Aksara merupakan jurnal yang diterbitkan oleh Program Studi Pendidikan Bahasa dan Sastra Indonesia, Fakultas Keguruan dan Ilmu Pendidikan, Universitas Batanghari dan Lembaga Penelitian dan Pengabdian Masyarakat Universitas Batanghari. Jurnal ini merupakan jurnal penelitian yang mempublikasikan artikel hasil penelitian asli, studi kepustakaan, dan tulisan terkait dengan fokus pada kajian Pendidikan Bahasa dan Sastra Indonesia, kajian bahasa dan kajian sastra. Semua artikel ditinjau oleh 4 orang reviewer, 2 orang reviewer internal dan 2 orang reviewer eksternal. Jurnal ini diterbitkan dua kali dalam satu tahun setiap bulan April dan bulan September, jurnal aksara ini dapat diakses pembaca, jurnal aksara ini berisi hasil penelitian pustaka maupun hasil penelitian lapangan. Jurnal ini meliputi beberapa ranah Ilmu sebagai berikut: 1. Kajian Pendidikan Bahasa dan Sastra Indonesia meliputi bidang pembelajaran keterampilan berbahasa, pembelajaran linguistik, pembelajaran semantik, pembelajaran pragmatik, pembelajaran wacana, pembelajaran sosiolinguistik, pembelajaran psikolinguistik serta pembelajaran puisi, pembelajaran prosa, pembelajaran fiksi, pembelajaran drama. 2. Kajian Bahasa Indonesia meliputi: fonologi, morfologi, sintaksis, analisis wacana, semantik, pragmatik, sosiolinguistik, psikolinguistik, bahasa dan budaya, dialektologi, dokumentasi bahasa, serta bidang keilmuan lain yang berkaitan dengan kajian kebahasaan. 3. Kajian Sastra Indonesia meliputi: sastra lisan dan sastra modern berupa kajian puisi, prosa fiksi dan drama.

Abstract

The diversity of cultures, especially regional languages, in the course of time can influence the modernization of cultural traditions. One such event is depicted in the story or synopsis of the film Rocker Balik Kampung by Uli Rahman, which is used as a case study to observe how visual media plays a role in shaping the perception and cultural identity of society. As an audio-visual medium, film has the ability to capture social and cultural realities and convey messages through visual representation. Based on Charles Sanders Peirce's semiotic theory, this research analyzes the signs in the film that form cultural narratives and their interpretations by the audience. The purpose of this research is to analyze the representation of Sundanese male culture and examine the meanings and values in Uli Rahman's film Rocker Balik Kampung. This research uses descriptive analysis methods and data collection techniques through observation and note-taking. The instrument used is data cards. The research results on the representation of Sundanese male culture include 28 scenes categorized into signs, objects, and interpretants; 20 scenes are categorized into meanings and values according to Stuart Hall's representation theory, depicting the main character, Juhana, bringing modernization to the traditional village of Sinar Asih, which is deeply rooted in ancestral traditions. Using Charles Sanders Peirce's semiotic theory and Stuart Hall's perspectives, this film explores the representation of males in Sundanese culture and the dynamics between tradition and modern change. This representation reflects how traditional identities and values can adapt to modern elements within social and cultural contexts.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze students' abilities in using standard and non-standard language according to Enhanced Spelling (EYD). In the current era of globalization, good and correct use of Indonesian is very important to maintain cultural richness and national identity. The research population involved all class VIII students at SMP Negeri 5 Botomuzei, namely 32 people, based on sample criteria (stratified random sampling) there were 25 people. The research method used is descriptive quantitative with data collection through written tests and interviews. The independent variable is students' understanding of EYD while the dependent variable is the ability to use standard and non-standard language. EYD as an official spelling guide, plays a very vital role in maintaining the consistency and quality of the Indonesian language, as well as supporting efforts to preserve and develop the language as a national identity. The research results show that the majority of students have a fairly good understanding of the EYD rules, but still often make mistakes in the application of standard and non-standard language in written and spoken contexts. Factors that influence students' abilities include the social environment, mass media, and daily language habits. This research concludes that there is a need to increase awareness and more intensive learning regarding the use of standard and non-standard language according to EYD among students. The recommendations given are improving the quality of Indonesian language teaching in schools as well as providing learning materials that are more interactive and relevant to current developments. As well as increasing awareness of the importance of using standard words.

Abstract

Commissive speech acts demand trustworthiness and seriousness from speakers in carrying out what they have said. This commissive speech act is not only found in everyday life, but can also be found in debate dialog. The purpose of this study is to identify and describe the form and function of commissive speech acts in the first debate of 2024 presidential candidates. This research is a descriptive qualitative type with data collection techniques using listening and note-taking techniques. At the data analysis stage, the researcher tries to compare, classify, and describe the data that has been found. Based on the analysis, the results obtained 24 data of commissive speech acts from the speech at the first debate of the 2024 Presidential Candidates, namely commissive illocutionary speech acts swearing there is 1 data, commissive illocutionary speech acts threatening obtained 0 data, commissive illocutionary speech acts expressing ability there is 1 data, commissive illocutionary speech acts vowed (vowed) obtained 6 data, and commissive illocutionary speech acts offering there is 1 data. The data found can be applied in Indonesian language learning in SMA Class XI, on argumentation text material as an example of text in fact and opinion sentences.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the perspective of existentialism, particularly the concepts of authenticity and solidarity, in relation to woke culture within the context of character education. By understanding the relationship between these two schools of thought, this research seeks to explore how existentialism can provide valuable insights in shaping students' character in the modern era. The method used in this study is library research, which involves the analysis of literature related to existentialism, woke culture, and character education. The findings of this research are expected to offer insights for educators and policymakers in formulating more effective educational strategies, as well as helping students find a balance between individual authenticity and social solidarity.

Abstract

The film Humba Dreams directed by Riri Riza in 2019 is a drama genre with a duration of 75 minutes raising cultural wealth, natural beauty, and social conflicts found in Sumba society. The film shows the cultural instability caused by Martin returning from the city and the social problems faced by Sumbanese people regarding human trafficking. The existence of cultural instability shows the dynamics of cultural hegemony. This study aims to reveal the level of integral, degenerate, and minimum cultural hegemony contained in the film Humba Dreams (2019). By using qualitative methods to reveal cinematographic elements as signs that indicate the dynamics of cultural hegemony with Pierce's semiotic theory. The researcher divided the sequence of events of the film into 63 sequences to assist in analyzing the data which was then calcified based on the level of hegemony of Gramsci, with the following results: ideal hegemony in Waingapu society, Sumba there were 9 sequences, degenerate hegemony which showed social criticism there were 5 sequences, and Martin character's awareness of ideal hegemony there were 2 sequences. The practice of cultural hegemony contained in Riri Riza's Humba Dreams (2019) is shown in the form of power that applies values and customs based on ancestral heritage, so that it can be interpreted as signs and symbols. Abstract

This research aims to analyze the collective memory of the conflict in Aceh and the formation of collective memory in the novel Kawi Matin di Negeri Anjing by Arafat Nur. This research uses Maurice Halbwachs' collective memory theory approach. This study employs a descriptive qualitative research method, which aims to address the research focus by providing detailed descriptions of the data. The research results show a collective memory of the conflict events in Aceh in the novel. The novel shapes collective memory through the portrayal of characters, the impact of the social environment, and the reconstruction of history. The findings show that literary works, especially novels, function as a medium that can reflect and preserve collective memory. Novels not only describe an event but also serve as a tool to build a group's identity and collective memory.

Abstract

This research will analyze the classification of emotions experienced by the main character, Irham in the novel Proelium by Febrialdi R. The theory used in this research is David Kreech's theory of emotional classification. Then the method used is descriptive qualitative, which produces data in the form of written words in the novel. This research examines four forms of emotion: Basic emotions, emotions related to sensory stimulation, emotions related to self-evaluation, and emotions related to other people. The results of this research show that the main character Irham experiences various emotions such as happiness, anger, fear, sadness, disgust, enjoyment, success, failure, sadness, shame, guilt, regret, love and hate. This research will enrich our understanding of the complexity of human emotions expressed through literary works, especially in the novel Proelium by Febrialdi R.

Abstract

This study examines humor construction in Jatuh Cinta Seperti di Film-Film from a pragmatic perspective, focusing on the fallacy of presumption. It aims to describe how humor arises from differences in assumptions between characters in dialogues and interactions. The subject is Falling in Love Like in the Movies, an award-winning romantic comedy. Using a descriptive qualitative approach, this study finds that the fallacy of presumption plays a crucial role in creating subtle yet effective humor without relying on slapstick or verbal insults. Misunderstandings between characters generate sharp, context-driven comedy. The study further demonstrates that humor can emerge from exploring meaning and irony in conversation rather than merely visual or situational elements. By contributing to pragmatic linguistics, this research introduces a new perspective on ethical and intellectual humor in film. It also proves that humor based on presumption fallacies can be both entertaining and educational, offering a more respectful and relevant model for society.

Abstract

This research aims to describe and document forms of consultative Indonesian language forms in oral communication between PPL students and teachers at SMA Negeri 11 Jambi City. The study used in this research is sociolinguistic study. This research is a type of qualitative research using qualitative descriptive methods. These forms include three forms, including consultative forms of question sentences, consultative forms of explanatory sentences and consultative forms of greeting sentences. The main data in this research is oral communication containing a consultative variety of Indonesian which is used to be analyzed as research data. The data source was taken through recordings with different people using tapping data collection techniques at the school as the research site. Meanwhile, data analysis techniques were carried out using sociolinguistic theory. The results of this research are a description of the form of the consultative variety in Indonesian in the form of: (1) the form of a consultative variety of interrogative sentences which contains questions during communication, (2) the form of explanatory sentences of the consultative variety which contains the form of statements or explanations of questions when communicating, (3) the form of greeting sentences to start consultation or communication between tutor teachers and PPL students using a consultative variety that is not too standard and not too relaxed, prioritizing the results of oral communication between PPL students and teachers at SMA Negeri 11 Jambi city.

Abstract

The research entitled "Literary Sociology Approach in Examining Conflict and Resolution in the Drama Script 'Jerit Malam di Kampung Kalong'" aims to find out the causes of conflict and how effective conflict resolution is to overcome the conflict that occurs in the drama script. This research uses qualitative methods to describe the problems and research focus. Qualitative methods are research steps to obtain descriptive data in the form of words from the drama script being studied. The results found that there were 2 factors causing conflict in the drama script and there were 3 effective methods for resolving conflict according to the author. The author hopes that with this research all conflicts that occur in society can be resolved peacefully without violence.
