Abstract

Oranges contain compounds that are eficacious as antioxidants which are great for preventing and counteracting free radicals. The purpose of this research is to determine the value of antioxidant activity of infused water drinks of variety oranges (lemon, lime and calamansi oranges). This research was conducted by making an infused water drink by soaking oranges fruits in cooled water and left overnight in the refrigerator. The antioxidant activity was carried out using the DPPH (1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl) method. The data obtained then calculated the value of antioxidant activity and calculated the IC50 value. The results showed that infused water drinks from lemon, lime and calamansi oranges had very strong antioxidant activity seen from the IC50 values which was less than 50 ppm, where calamansi with antioxidant activity value of 28,92 ppm, then followed by lemon with antioxidant activity value of 27.46 ppm and finally lime with antioxidant activity value of 24,39 ppm.

Abstract

Syrup is an oral liquid preparation containing sakarosa. The study aimed to test whether iler leaf extract (Coleus atropurpureus (L.) Benth) could be formulated as a syrup preparation then tested for physical properties and mucolytic activity. The experimental method used to test the mucolytic activity of iler leaf extract syrup in vitro is to measure the viscosity of duck egg whites added to the test solution every 15 minutes, namely at the 0th, 15th, 30th, 45th and 60th minutes. Testing of mucolytic activity was carried out on iler leaf extract syrup with concentrations of 3%, 4.5% and 6%, positive control of acetylcysteine 0.2% and negative control of aquades. The results showed that iler leaf extract syrup at concentrations of 3%, 4.5% and 6% can be formulated as syrup preparations and is able to significantly decrease the viscosity of duck egg whites compared to negative control.

Abstract

Beluntas leaf (Pluchea indica L. Less) and red ginger rhizome (Zingiber officinale Roscoe) is a plan have activity as antibacterial causes acne. Beluntas leaf contain antibacterial compounds from alkaloid, flavonoid free type flavonol, steroid and tannin. Red ginger rhizome extract compounds flavonoid, essential oil, polifenol, and saponin. This study aim to develop gel product extract combination from beluntas extract and red ginger rhizome at concentration 1: 1; 1: 2 and 3:2 formulated in gel, then tested the physical characteristic and gel microbiology tested on P. acne and S. epidermidis. Beluntas leaf and red ginger rhizome extracted by maceration in ethanol 96%, and carbopol 934 as gel base. Physical characteristic test comprise homogeneity, organoleptic, pH, dispersion gel and viscosity. Microbiology tested use method diameter of inhibition zone with Medi-Klin Gel® as positive control. The result show homogeneous gel preparation, with brownish green color, ginger smell, pH 5,83-6,07, spreadability 5,1-5,7 cm, viscosity 690000 cp-1460800 cp. effect of adding extract beluntas leaf and red ginger rhizome to gel preparation, in both single and combination extracts. Antibacterial evaluation showed that formula 3 give the best effectiveness with 5,92 mm zone of inhibition against P. acnes and 4,15 mm against S. epidermidis.

Abstract

Research of amlodipine drug therapy time against a decrease in blood pressure showed different results, it had a significant and insignificant effect. Research aimed to identify differences blood pressure reduction hypertension patients who give amlodipine drug therapy in the morning with night at the Puskesmas Bayanan Hulu Sungai Selatan Regency. This research method is obsevasional descriptive with Pre and post test design. There are two groups in this design, namely hypertension patients who give amlodipine drug therapy in the morning and night, blood pressure measured before and after 10 days observation, then compared between the difference in the decrease blood pressure of patients given amlodipine drug therapy in the morning and night. Results of respondents who give amlodipine drug therapy in the morning experienced average decrease in blood for systole -13.67 mmHg and diastole -6.33 mmHg. Amlodipine therapy at night experienced an average decrease in blood for cystole -19 mmHg and diastole -10.33 mmHg. Wilcoxon sigh test results for pressure systole values Asymp.sig. 0.007 and diastole pressure values Asymp.sig. 0.003 or <0.05 which states hypothesis is accepted, or there is a difference between a decrease blood pressure of hypertension patients give amlodipine drug therapy in the morning and night.
