Abstract

Senggani fruit (Melastoma malabathricum L.) is one of the wild plants whose leaves are usually used by the community as a medicine for wounds and cancer sores. Senggani fruit contains high anthocyanins and antioxidants, which are very good for preventing cancer in the body. The purpose of this research is to make syrup of Senggani fruit juice. The formulation of Senggani fruit juice syrup was made by heating method at 54°C with various concentrations of F0, F1 (5%), F2 (6%) and F3 (8%). Then, the physical properties were tested, namely organoleptic, viscosity test, pH test, homogenity test, hedonic test and descriptive test. From testing the physical properties of the syrup formulation of Senggani fruit, it was found that the organoleptic test of F2 and F3 showed a change in consistency; for the pH test results the four formulas ranged from 3.98 to 7.07; the homogeneity test on F2 and F3 was not homogeneous, there were black grains at the 3rd week; then the viscosity test of syrup preparations F2 and F3 obtained an average result of 30 - 51.33 cPs; as well as hedonic and descriptive tests with the criteria of somewhat like - like the most preferred is F3.

Abstract

Jamblang leaf (Syzygium cumini L.) contains several antimicrobial compounds. The content of chemical compounds in a plant is influenced by environmental factors. The Geothermal area of Ie Seum Aceh Besar has a different temperature and pH of the soil. This research was conducted to determine the antimicrobial activity of jamblang leaf ethanol extract which grew inside and outside the geothermal area. This research is experimental laboratories using a complete randomized design (RAL). The study consisted of 3 treatments, namely distilled water, jamblang leaf extract which grew in the Geothermal area of Ie Seum (EDJDKG) and jamblang leaf extract that grew outside the Geothermal area of Ie Seum (EDJLKG) and each 5 replications. The results showed that jamblang leaf ethanol extract that grew inside and outside the geothermal area of Ie Seum was very influential (p = 0,000) in inhibiting the growth of Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli and Candida albican. Duncan's further test results showed that the largest average inhibitory diameter was produced by EDJDKG (19.20 mm) and was not significantly different from EDJLKG (18.00 mm) in inhibiting the growth of S. aureus. As for E. coli EDJDKG of 20.70 mm and significantly different from EDJLKG (18.70 mm).

Abstract

Coronavirus 19, Knowing as COVID-19, is a disease caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2). COVID-19 treatment is still limited to supportive and oxygen therapy. The use of drugs is on the complaints felt by patients and comorbidities. This study aims to look at drug use profiles in COVID-19 patients. This research was included in descriptive research with a retrospective cross-sectional design. This research data was the entire prescription sheet and medical records of COVID-19 patients for March-August 2020 that meet the inclusion criteria. The result from collecting COVID-19 patient data for March-August 2020 obtained 114 medical records that met the criteria for research inclusion. Research Result: Characteristics of study subjects of the male sex are more infected with COVID-19. The age range with the highest number of COVID-19 patients was 46-55 years. Treatment profiles often used in COVID-19 patients are Supplements and Vitamins for 6538 prescriptions and Antibiotics for 2813 prescriptions. The most prescribed supplements and vitamins are Vitamin C, Lakto B, Zinc, and Vitamin C. The most prescribed antibiotics are Azithromycin, Meropenem, and Levofloxacin. The conclusion obtained in this study is that Supplements and vitamins, and Antibiotics are the most prescribed drug class.

Abstract

Oranges contain compounds that are eficacious as antioxidants which are great for preventing and counteracting free radicals. The purpose of this research is to determine the value of antioxidant activity of infused water drinks of variety oranges (lemon, lime and calamansi oranges). This research was conducted by making an infused water drink by soaking oranges fruits in cooled water and left overnight in the refrigerator. The antioxidant activity was carried out using the DPPH (1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl) method. The data obtained then calculated the value of antioxidant activity and calculated the IC50 value. The results showed that infused water drinks from lemon, lime and calamansi oranges had very strong antioxidant activity seen from the IC50 values which was less than 50 ppm, where calamansi with antioxidant activity value of 28,92 ppm, then followed by lemon with antioxidant activity value of 27.46 ppm and finally lime with antioxidant activity value of 24,39 ppm.

Abstract

Individuals who survive a first ischemic stroke are at high risk for recurrent stroke. This study aims to analyze the relationship between antihypertensives on the incidence of ischemic stroke recurrence in ischemic stroke patients. Type of research is analytic observational with a retrospective cohort approach. The research sample was taken using purposive sampling technique. The research sample was patients who had an ischemic stroke at PKU Muhammadiyah Hospital Yogyakarta in 2018. There were 201 samples that met the inclusion criteria. Consisting of 135 treatment groups and 66 patients as the control group. In the treatment group, 110 patients did not have recurrent strokes and 25 patients had recurrent strokes. In the control group there were 58 patients who did not have recurrent strokes and 8 patients had recurrent strokes. Statistical analysis showed an RR value of 0.927 (95% CI: 0.822-1.046) and p-value of 0.344. The conclusion from the results of this study is that there is no relationship between the administration of antihypertensive therapy with the incidence of ischemic stroke recurrence in ischemic stroke patients at PKU Muhammadiyah Hospital Yogyakarta.

Abstract

Syrup is an oral liquid preparation containing sakarosa. The study aimed to test whether iler leaf extract (Coleus atropurpureus (L.) Benth) could be formulated as a syrup preparation then tested for physical properties and mucolytic activity. The experimental method used to test the mucolytic activity of iler leaf extract syrup in vitro is to measure the viscosity of duck egg whites added to the test solution every 15 minutes, namely at the 0th, 15th, 30th, 45th and 60th minutes. Testing of mucolytic activity was carried out on iler leaf extract syrup with concentrations of 3%, 4.5% and 6%, positive control of acetylcysteine 0.2% and negative control of aquades. The results showed that iler leaf extract syrup at concentrations of 3%, 4.5% and 6% can be formulated as syrup preparations and is able to significantly decrease the viscosity of duck egg whites compared to negative control.

Abstract

k, and yellow) while the rind is underutilized by the community. The purpose of the study is to prove that watermelon extract has chemical properties such as flavonoid and others, determining the parameters for the extract of the watermelon rind by established standards and proving the antioxidant compounds in the watermelon's rind. Watermelon extract is obtained by way of an extraction of the maceration method using ethanol 70%, resulting in a yield of 10,32%. Oilshaped extract with a distinctive odor and alkaloids, steroids, and flavonoids. The essence of ethanol soluble watermelon rind extract is 40%, whereas the water content is 60%. Distilled extract by 8,070%. The ash count was 19,5%. Based on the results of the study, it could be concluded that specific parameters (Identification, organoleptis, chemical testing, ethanol-soluble extract, and watersoluble extract) and non-specific parameters (determination of drying losses and the total ash content) on the watermelon rind extract meet the establishedstandards.
