Abstract

This article aims to determine how product selling prices were determined at MSMEs Karak Kaliang Talua RF. Data collection used the observation method by conducting interviews with the owner, asking several questions related to his business, and documenting the results of the observation visit. Based on the visit results, this business had a reasonably small target market by marketing only entrusting products to traders in traditional markets. The owner expects a profit of IDR 5,000/0.25kg for each product, namely Karak Kaliang Talua and Roti Kariang. The owner of Karak Kaliang Talua RF sets prices based only on estimated cost prices and profit expectations. After processing the data from the interview results, it was found that there was a discrepancy between the selling price set by the owner and the profit expectations.

Abstract

The availability of clean water is a significant factor in ensuring human survival. When there is insufficient water to supply a population adequately, we say there is a water shortage. The water issue is impacting several metropolitan regions worldwide, including Indonesia. In Padang, 22 sub-districts are included in the list of slum sub-districts, including Pasar Ambacang. The current condition requires more community preparedness to face the water crisis. People must be adequately prepared for water crises or be taught how to use available water supplies efficiently. Increasing knowledge about community preparedness in facing the water crisis is essential because increasing public knowledge will increase community preparedness in facing the water crisis. The effort was carried out by distributing leaflets and giving lectures door to door. This exercise increased the percentage of the community prepared to deal with the water situation before and after receiving instruction. It can lessen the number of potential dangers and casualties during a disaster. If the community is prepared, it will be easier to carry out rescue actions when a disaster occurs.

Abstract

The research conducted by UNICEF in Indonesia in 2020 revealed that one in five girls is unaware of menstrual hygiene management. Taboos and stigma also limit the activities of female students during menstruation. Menstrual Hygiene Management (MHM) is the method of maintaining cleanliness and health for women during their menstrual cycle. The Ministry of Health is improving menstrual hygiene by implementing three aspects in the School Health Effort (Trias UKS), including health education, health services, and a healthy school environment. Community service activities were conducted at the Elementary School of SDN 47 Korong Gadang, Padang City, on 3 June 2022. The number of participants was 30 students from the 4th and 5th grades. Education was delivered through lectures and discussions, supported by visual aids such as slides and leaflets. The evaluation used pretests and post-tests to determine whether there was an improvement in students' knowledge. After the education session, it was found that 60% of the students had acquired a high level of knowledge regarding menstrual hygiene management. The results of this community service can serve as a lesson that education related to personal hygiene during menstruation is crucial. It is because some female students, while menstruating, experience bullying from male students and encounter obstacles in practicing menstrual hygiene at school.

Abstract

The Lecturer Team from Economics and Business, Siliwangi University, conducted Community Service Activities (PPM) for the youth and PKK groups in Putrapinggan Village, Pangandaran Regency, in May 2023. The engagement service had the theme of applying science and technology, which aims to transfer knowledge and technology from experts in household waste management in organic and inorganic waste based on bioconversion and a circular economy. Problems encountered after discussions with partners can be identified, such as partner problems in handling household waste that need to be correctly optimized. This PPM was carried out using training methods and mini-workshops, mentoring, strengthening, and collaboration, which were carried out continuously. Organic waste management utilized bioconversion technology from Black Soldier Fly (BSF) maggots. Meanwhile, socializing the application of circular economy principles in the form of the principles of reduction, reuse, recycling, recovery, and repair was an effort that the team can make to the community to support government programs in efforts to handle sustainable inorganic waste. The implementation of this service has had a direct impact in the form of increasing residents' insight regarding waste handling literacy, increasing awareness and concern regarding household waste management, and indirect impacts, namely improving health levels and increasing residents' economic capacity.

Abstract

Bhakti Kencana University (BKU) community service activities were conducted in Girimekar Village, Bandung Regency. This activity involved BKU lecturers from various disciplines, such as Midwifery, Nursing, Public Health, and Pharmacy. This activity was carried out by forming a medical team, which was an effort to empower the community, especially the youth of the local group. This activity aims to socialize emergency treatment measures that must be carried out as soon as possible before residents are taken to the community health center or hospital. This will help the community care more about their health. Girimekar Village has topography and land contours in the form of highlands and lowlands at an altitude of between 400 meters above sea level and 600 meters above sea level, with an average temperature ranging from 19°C to 37°C. Girimekar Village consists of 5 hamlets, 22 RWs, and 79 RTs. Based on the topography, most areas outside the forest area are slopes or peaks with varying heights. Most RWs are located outside forest areas. Conditions like this are the background for the formation of this medical team. The method for forming a medical team was carried out by identifying the number of young people in the area and then carrying out preliminary outreach by educating them about the importance of emergency treatment before residents are taken to the hospital. After the socialization, the medical team was given training on first aid in the form of basic life support. Abstract

So far, the learning strategy implemented in schools is still widespread, providing all students with the same educational treatment and services. These students have different levels of skills, intelligence, interests, and talents. Therefore, early identification is needed to detect children's learning potential and problems. The results of the identification can later be used by teachers in implementing learning processes that suit the characteristics of students. The method used in identification is an intelligence test using the Stanford-Binet Intelligence Scale and Culture Fair Intelligence Scale instruments. In contrast, the method used in conveying examination results is lectures and discussions with parents and teachers regarding the characteristics of children with special needs and appropriate services and education. The identification results found that one student (1.56%) was in the immobile category, seven students (10.94%) were in the debilitated category, 13 students (20.31%) were in the borderline category, 15 students (23.44%) were in the low average category, 22 students (34.38%) were in the average category, and six students (9.38%) were in the high average category. This activity had been carried out well. Through discussions and counseling, parents and teachers gained an understanding of treatment and educational services that suit the characteristics of each child. In the future, follow-up activities will likely be related to evaluating learning strategies and student abilities.
