Abstract

Writing gives us unique opportunities to explore ideas andinformation. By writing, we care to subjects well and make them our own.In relation to using instructional media in learning writing, the use ofpictures series can be a choice as one of many alternative ways to helpstudents learn writing. Pictures and all of their form for instance pictures ofstory, There are a lot of language activities that can be done using picturesseries. This research used experimental research. The researcher used onegroup pretest posttest design which one of pre experimental research. Thesubject of the study is the eighth grade students of SMPN 1 Ngantru in theacademic year of 2014/2015. There were 33 students. The technique usedfor collecting data is pre-test and post-test and interview. Based on theresult of data, mean of pretest score is 73,03 and mean of Post Test score is84,5. It means that posttest score was higher than pretest. The result of thestudy was that the students’ progress during teaching and learning activityby using picture series in teaching writing narrative texts to effect writingskill was good. In the T-Test result, T-value = 6.424 2.0369 (T- table).The significance level 0,05. So, the Ho was rejected and Ha was accepted.KEY WORDS: Picture series and Narrative text

Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh pola pikir orang tua siswa yangberbeda- beda baik dari segi pekerjaan atau kesibukan, kondisi ekonomi danlain- lain memengaruhi juga macam perhatian yang diberikan kepada anak-anaknya. Faktor lain yang berpengaruh terhadap prestasi siswa adalah siswaitu memiliki perbedaan dalam hal kecerdasanintelektual yang terkadangsangat mencolok antara seorang siswa dengan siswa lainnya. Kemandirianbelajar adalah menumbuhkan siswa yang percaya diri dan mampu mengaturdiri. Jadi, dapat disimpulkan bahwa kemandirian belajar adalah kegiatanbelajar yang dilakukan dengan sadar tanpa paksaan orang lain dan disertaiadanya tanggung jawab untuk mencapai tujuan tertentu. Selain kesulitan-kesulitan dalam belajar, kemandirian belajar siswa juga sangat berpengaruhterhadap prestasi belajar siswa.Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa kelas VIII SMPJawaahirul Hikmah yaitu sebanyak 44 siswa. Karena jumlah populasi kurangdari 100 maka sampel yang digunakan adalah seluruh populasi yaitu 44 siswa.Metode pengumpulan data yang dipergunakan dalam penelitian ini adalahmetode angket dan tes. Angket dalam penelitian ini yang bertujuan untukmemperoleh informasi dari siswa mengenai perhatian orang tua (X 1 ) dankemandirian siswa dalam belajar mata pelajaran IPS (Y) . sedangkan tes IQbertujuan untuk memperoleh hasil berupa kecerdasan intelaktual (X 2 ) siswakelas VIII SMP Jawaahirul Hikmah tahun pelajaran 2015/2016. Untukmenentukan pengaruh diantara keduanya, peneliti menggunakan uji regresilinier berganda.Dari hasil analisis, diketahui nilai t hitung X 1 (Perhatian Orang Tua)sebesar 3,920 dan nilai t hitung X 2 (Kemampuan Intelektual) sebesar 12,460.Kesimpulannya yaitu: Nilai thitungX 1 (3,920)ttabel(2,019). Dengandemikian, Ho ditolak dan Ha diterima. Kesimpulannya, ada pengaruh yang100signifikan antara perhatian orang tua siswa terhadap kemandirian belajar siswa.Nilai t hitung X 2 (12,460) t tabel (2,019). Dengan demikian, Ho ditolak dan Haditerima. Kesimpulannya,ada pengaruh yang signifikan antara kemampuanintelektual siswa terhadap kemandirian belajar siswa. dengan demikian Hoditolak dan Ha diterima. Sehingga dapat disimpulkan bahwa ada pengaruh adapengaruh yang signifikan antara variabel bebas X 1 (Perhatian Orang Tua) danX 2 (Kemampuan Intelektual) secara bersamaan terhadap variabel terikat Y(Kemandirian Belajar).Hasil penelitian ini dapat digunakan sebagai masukan dan bahanpertimbangan bagi orang tua agar lebih memperhatikan anak-anaknya dalambidang pendidikan. Abstract

This thesis is aimed at describing forms and meanings ofutterances based on Vanderveken’s theory by using descriptive method.Yule (1996 : 54) said that “directives are those kinds of speech act thatspeaker use to get someone else to do something. They express what thespeaker wants. They are commands, orders, request, suggestion”.Incollecting the data, the researcher follows three stages. Those are dataselection, data collection, and data classification. The selection stage wasdone by searching the movie script as the data source, the data collectioncovers collecting the data from utterance in the movie script, and the dataclassification includes gathering utterances which contain DirectiveIllocutionary Act. In analyzing the data, researcher follows several stages.They are: founding categorizing, describing, and qualifying theutterances found in the data.From all of the utterances, there are seventypes of Directive Illocutionary Acts found in utterances, those are:Asking, Commanding, Requesting, Suggesting, and Begging. From thoseforms of Directive Illocutionary Act, Suggesting has the highestfrequency of use among others, that is twelve times, the Begging has thelowest frequency of use among others, that is one times.To describe themeaning of the analysis the researcher used six component ofVanderveken and the meaning of the utterances is mostly suggesting.Based on the meanings of the Illocutionary Act in utterances, most of thepoint of Illocution is that the speaker ask to the hearer to do something;most of the mode of achievement is that the hearer can give the answer orexplanation from the speaker question or command; the propositionalcontent of the utterances is mostly showing that the speaker ask to thehearer to answer or to doing what the speaker want; most of thepreparatory condition of the utterances is that the speaker believes thatthe hearer can achieve what the speaker wants; most of the sincerity ofcondition of the utterances is that the speaker really hopes to the hearerto conduct his will; and the degree of strength of the utterances is mostlyshowing that the speaker seriousness to get respond from the hearer.Key Words : Directive Illocutionary Acts, Divergent Movie 2014

Abstract

Prestasi belajar dipengaruhi oleh faktor eksternal dan internal.Kepercayaan diri dan disiplin belajar merupakan faktor internal yang penting.Dengan percaya diri siswa akan mampu mengembangkan kemampuannya.Sejalan dengan itu, dengan disiplin belajar kegiatan belajar mengajar akanberjalan lancar, dan siswa akan lebih meningkatkan belajarnya gunamemperoleh prestasi yang diinginkan. Berdasarkan analisis data diperoleh (1)terdapat pengaruh yang signifikan antara kepercayaan diri terhadap prestasibelajar matematika siswa kelas VII SMP Negeri 1 Pogalan tahun pelajaran2015/2016, dengan besar F hitung sebesar 23,268 F tabel pada N = 60 dengan tarafsignifikansi 5% diperoleh sebesar 4,01 berarti H 0 ditolak dan H a1 diterima. (2)terdapat penagaruh yang signifikan antaran disiplin belajar terhadap prestasibelajar matematika siswa kelas VII SMP Negeri 1 Pogalan tahun pelajaran2015/2016, dengan besar F hitung sebesar 13,705 F tabel pada N = 60 dengan tarafsignifikansi 5% diperoleh sebesar 4,01 berarti H 0 ditolak dan H a2 diterima. (3)terdapat penagaruh yang signifikan antara kepercayaan diri dan disiplin belajarterhadap prestasi belajar matematika siswa kelas VII SMP Negeri 1 Pogalantahun pelajaran 2015/2016, dengan F hitung sebesar 3,49 F tabel pada N = 60dengan taraf signifikansi 5% diperoleh sebesar 3,16 berarti H 0 ditolak dan H a3diterima. Dengan demikian hasil penelitian ini dapat disimpulkan bahwa “Adapengaruh yang signifikan antara kepercayaan diri dan disiplin belajarmatematika siswa kelas VII SMP Negeri 1Pogalan tahun pelajaran 2015/2016.Kata Kunci: Disiplin belajar, Kepercayaan diri, Prestasi belajar

Abstract

Matematika merupakan mata pelajaran yang penting bagisiswa, akan tetapi rata-rata hasil belajar matematika siswa masih dibawah KKM. Fokus dari penelitian ini yaitu (1) bagaimana kesalahan-kesalahan yang dilakukan oleh siswa dalam menyelesaikan soal, (2) apapenyebab terjadinya kesalahan-kesalahan yang dilakukan oleh siswa,dan (3) upaya apa yang harus dilakukan oleh pendidik agar kesalahan-kesalahan yang terjadi tidak terulang di kemudian hari. Subjek daripenelitian ini adalah siswa kelas VIII di SMP Negeri 1 Pogalan tahunpelajaran 2015/2016. Hasil dari penelitian ini yaitu 1) siswa dengangaya kognitif Field Independent cenderung melakukan kesalahan fakta,konsep dan prinsip, sedangkan siswa yang memiliki gaya kognitif FieldDependent cenderung melakukan kesalahan fakta, konsep, operasi danprinsip.KATA KUNCI: Analisis Kesalahan, Gaya Kognitif

Abstract

From the research findings, it can be concluded thatcrossword puzzle has improved the students’ vocabulary mastery. The result ofthis study, from preliminary study showed that the students’vocabuary masterywas poor. The result of the cycle II indicated that students who passed thestudents who passed the test increased from 9 students or 45% in cycle I to 16student or 80% in cycle II. Therefore the researcher concludes that teachingvocabulary using crossword puzzle to the tenth grade students of SMK PGRI 3TULUNGAGUNG is effective to improve the students’vocabulary mastery, Andquestionnaires given to the students showed that the students enjoyed andincreased their vocabulary mastery by using crossword puzzle game.Key Term : Crossword Puzzle, Vocabulary Mastery

Abstract

Reading legend story as a kind of narrative text can be an activity in reading.Narrative is one of important text to learn. Basically using legend story will makestudent more effective to make narrative text, whereas narrative text consists offolktale. The legend is a narrative produced and transmitted orally or in writing, abouta single, extraordinary, supernatural, or marvelous, true or fictitious, believed orslighted, often dated/localized event (experience), brought up with didactic orentertaining intent; it serves to confirm, or expand the experiential horizon of therecipient and confirm or question a momentarily valid conception of the world.Legend story is kind of narrative text. The purpose of the study is to know whether ornot there is any correlation between Reading Legend Stories and Writing NarrativeText at Ninth Grade Students.The method of this study an experimental inquiry is seen as the mostappropriate approach in determining whether co-operative learning positively affectsthe test results of the Ninth Grade Students of SMPN 1 Gondang Tulungagung.Because r counts more than r product moment tables (0.462 0,206). Based on thecalculations can be concluded that test is valid. Based on the calculations can beconcluded that test is reliable because the reliability score bigger than alpha target or0.630 0, 6. Because r counts more than r product moment tables (0 630 0,6).After all of the data were analyzed accurately based on the research, now theresearcher can draw some conclusion. The r table n= 34 with α = 5% is 0.462. Basedon the calculations can be concluded that test is valid. Because r counts more than rproduct moment tables (0.462 0,206).Based on the research analysis as explained above, the researcher concludedthat there is any correlation between Reading Legend Stories and Writing NarrativeText at Ninth Grade Students of SMPN 1 Gondang Tulungagung Result of thisresearch will be useful for the English students, English teachers and otherresearchers: For the Students, Based on the result the researcher hope students willable to use reading legend story to make writing narrative text more interesting whilestudent ability of reading legend stories increase writing narrative text. Abstract

Speaking is one of the four language skills (listening, speaking,reading, and writing). It means through which learners can communicate withothers to achieve certain goals or to express their opinions, intentions, hopes andviewpoints. In addition, people who know a language are referred to as ‘speakers’of that language. There are many kinds of method for teaching speaking, one ofthem is communicative language teaching method. The reseacrh problem is thereany significant effect of communicative Language Teaching in teaching speakingto the eighth grade students of SMPN 1 Karangrejo in academic year 2015/2016.The objectives of the study is to find out significant effect of communicativelanguage teaching in teaching speaking to the eighth grade students of SMPN 1Karangrejo in academic year 2015/2016.In research the researcher used a quantitative research. The population ofthis research was the eighth garde students at SMPN 1 Karangrejo. It consisted of350 students. The researcher used a purposive sampling. There were 64 studentsas sample of this research. There were 32 students as experimental group and 32students as control group The instrument used in this research is a test. The test isspeaking test especially in descriptive text. The study used technique of t-testbased on Winarsunu to analyze the data. Then the data is analyzed by usingquantitative analysis with the Paired Sample T-Test stated by SPSS 21.0.The finding of effectiveness coefficient of communicative languageteaching in teaching speaking, mean score and standard deviation of experimentalgroup were 73.47 and 5.704, while the mean score of control group was 58.40and the standard deviation was 6.936 There was a significant effect in teachingspeaking by using communicative language teaching to the eighth grade studentsof SMPN 1 Karangrejo in academic year 2015/2016.Finally, it could be concluded that there was significant correlationbetween the students’ mastery of generic structure and their achievement ofreading narrative text. The category of the correlation was enough. The researcherhopes that the result of this research will give advantages, and the student will beable to arrange the narrative text to the right order, and get much information.Key Words: Effectiveness, Communicative Language Teaching Method,Teaching Speaking

Abstract

This article was a complete report of investigation on theeffectiveness of blind fold game in teaching speaking. Speaking is one of the basicskill that requires the process of communicative competence, pronunciation(intonation, stress, and pitch), grammar, fluency, vocabulary and comprehensionin order to build a good communication. English teacher must apply a techniquethat is more interesting and enjoyable in teaching and learning process especiallyin teaching speaking skill. One of the most important reasons for using game issimply that they are immensely enjoyable for both teacher and student. Thisresearch used pre-experimental design. The researcher took one class whichconsists of 23 students as the data of this research. Pre-test and Post-test weregiven to take the score of student’s. All of the data are analyze statistically byusing SPSS. 21.0. The statistical analysis showed that from the table of pairedsample t-test showed that significance is 0.000. So that 0.000 0,05, and t table intable t test t table. 26,785 0,5%.
