Abstract

Tumpang Valley Tourism has the potential of a water source that has been developed into a royal conceptualized tourist spot with temple buildings and surrounded by ponds that make the tourist spot feel cool. But even though it has been conceptualized neatly, Tumpang Valley Tourism has a fairly small number of tourist visits. The purpose of this research is to identify attractions, accessibility and amenity which are then analyzed based on tourism area life cycle analysis used to analyze the development stage of Tumpang Valley Tourism so that it can be used in formulating tourism development strategies. The research method is to use a qualitative approach and case study research design, while collecting data through observation, interviews and documentation with a case study research design. In analyzing the data using Butler's TALC theory. The results showed that the attraction conditions were quite numerous and interesting, while the accessibility conditions were quite easy but there were several points of the road that were starting to break down. And for the condition of the amenity is quite complete and supports the needs of tourists. Then the development stage of Tumpang valley tourism based on TALC theory is at the development stage which is marked that the dominant tourism components lead to the characteristics of the development stage. Thus, stakeholders need to pay attention to tourism maintenance for the comfort and safety of visitors.

Abstract

Green tourism is an important approach in maintaining environmental sustainability in the midst of the rapid development of the tourism industry, including in East Java. This research aims to explore the potential application of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in supporting the development of green tourism in major ecotourism destinations in the province. Using a descriptive-qualitative method with a literature review approach, this study examines how AI can be used in water management, waste management, transportation efficiency, and environmental quality monitoring. The results of the study show that AI can help optimize water distribution, leak detection, and control water consumption in tourist areas. In the field of waste management, AI enables the monitoring of waste volume, automatic sorting, as well as improved efficiency of the recycling process. AI can also optimize travel routes to reduce vehicle emissions and monitor air quality in real-time through integration with IoT sensors. These findings indicate that AI has great potential to support resource efficiency and environmentally sound tourism practices. This research recommends multi-sector collaboration to strengthen the implementation of technology in realizing adaptive and sustainable green tourism.

Abstract

Religious tourism has become a growing phenomenon, with many communities making it a regular activity on a weekly, monthly, or annual basis. One prominent religious destination is Astana Giribangun in Karanganyar, the burial site of Indonesia's second president, Soeharto. This study employs a quantitative method using purposive sampling and Slovin's formula, resulting in 102 respondents. Data were collected through questionnaires. The results reveal that (1) tourist perception significantly and positively influences revisit intention, (2) travel motivation also has a significant and positive effect on revisit intention, and (3) both variables together account for 75.8% of the variance in revisit intention, with the remaining 24.2% influenced by other factors.

Abstract

Revitalization of entertainment and cultural tourism venues in Surabaya City is a strategic step to restore the cultural spirit that is the identity of this city. This study uses a qualitative approach with a phenomenological method to understand the community's experience of various tourist locations, including Kota Tua, Kya-Kya, Alun-Alun Surabaya, Jalan Tunjungan, and Gedung Cak Durasim. The discussion in the article links relevant theories in the role of government and society in utilizing culture in the form of tourism, and community interactions based on cultural symbols. Through in-depth observations and interviews, this study reveals the social dynamics and interactions between local communities and tourists. The results of the analysis show that revitalization is not only aimed at attracting visitors but also strengthening a sense of ownership of cultural heritage. For example, the arrangement of Kota Tua is expected to revive the atmosphere of the past. With these revitalization steps, it is hoped that these places will not only become tourist attractions but also a means of preserving culture and historical education for future generations. This study makes a significant contribution to understanding the importance of revitalizing cultural tourism venues in efforts to preserve cultural heritage in Surabaya City.

Abstract

This study analyzes the transformation of tourism management in Central Java by highlighting the institutional differences between Disporapar (Youth, Sports, and Tourism Office) and Disbudpar (Culture and Tourism Office), projecting the development of the tourism sector if placed under Disbudpar, and identifying the weaknesses of Central Java tourism sector in terms of policy and occupational safety and health (K3). A mixed-method approach was applied, with qualitative analysis for policy and K3, and quantitative analysis of tourist visits data from 2019–2024 (before and after COVID-19). The findings reveal that placing tourism under Disporapar reduces institutional focus, while integration with culture under Disbudpar has the potential to strengthen cultural-tourism synergy. Weaknesses of Central Java's tourism sector include limited institutional coordination, uneven safety infrastructure, and weak occupational safety regulations. Policy recommendations include institutional repositioning, strengthening international-based tourism safety standards, and improving human resources capacity. Abstract

The optimization of Social Capital in Indonesia’s sustainable rural tourism development is frequently constrained by inconsistent community participation. Previous research has demonstrated that a structured intervention, termed Social Engineering (SE), successfully optimizes Social Capital and triggers holistic village development. This study aims to test the universality and local contingency of that specific SE framework. Using the case study of Bukit Lawang village, we replicate the model's examination outside its original socio-cultural context in Sumatra (e.g., Java and Bali). The research posits that the success of this replication is fundamentally dependent on identifying socio-cultural contingency variables that necessitate adaptive implementation. The anticipated outcome is the formulation of an Adaptation Matrix for policy guidance, offering a tested implementation model to achieve inclusive, quantifiable (based on the Village Development Index/IPD), and sustainable growth across diverse cultural landscapes in Indonesia

Abstract

This study examined how inclusive hospitality employment was enacted and experienced within a local community-based enterprise in Bali and how such practices contributed to advancing the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG 8 on Decent Work and Economic Growth and SDG 10 on Reduced Inequalities. Grounded in an interpretivist qualitative approach, the research was conducted at Piduh Café, a locally embedded hospitality enterprise employing persons with disabilities. Data were generated through participatory observation, informal in-depth interviews with nine employees with disabilities and two organisational informants, and documentation review. The findings showed that inclusive employment extended beyond technical skill acquisition to encompass the development of work identity, self-confidence, social interaction, and economic participation. Meaningful job matching, experiential learning, adaptive supervision, and fair remuneration enabled employees to perceive themselves as capable workers and valued contributors. At the organisational and community levels, inclusive employment fostered workplace cohesion, household economic support, and gradual shifts in local attitudes toward disability. The study concluded that inclusive hospitality employment functioned as a relational and context-specific process through which global development agendas were locally interpreted and embedded in everyday practice. Rather than scale, the depth and consistency of inclusive practices emerged as the key contribution of community-based enterprises to sustainable and inclusive tourism development

Abstract

This study examines the effect of service quality, price perception, and destination image on tourists’ visiting decisions at Krisna Watersport Temukus. This research is motivated by the increasing competition among water-based tourism destinations in North Bali and the challenges faced by Krisna Watersport in maintaining visitor numbers, especially among domestic tourists. A quantitative approach with a causal research design was used. Primary data were collected through questionnaires distributed to 160 respondents who had previously visited Krisna Watersport Temukus using a purposive sampling technique. The data were analyzed using multiple linear regression, supported by classical assumption tests, F-tests, and t-tests. The results show that service quality, price perception, and destination image each have a positive and significant effect on tourists’ visiting decisions. In addition, these three variables simultaneously have a significant influence on visiting decisions. These findings indicate that improving service quality, offering competitive prices, and strengthening destination image are important strategies to increase tourists’ visiting decisions at Krisna Watersport Temukus
