Abstract

This paper examines the transformation of classical Islamic theology so that it has relevance to the situation and condition of mankind, especially Muslims today. The research method used in this research is descriptive exploratory method, descriptive research is research that aims to describe or describe clearly the problems studied. While exploratory is a method that serves to deepen intellectual treasures or to get new ideas in a research. One of the transformations in theology was carried out by Hassan Hanafi. Hassan Hanafi is an Egyptian Muslim leader. In the view initiated by Hassan Hanafi, he said it was time for theology to have a new direction that was more appropriate and in line with the times. The new direction is to change a more metaphysical (theocentric) theology to a more anthropocentric theology. According to Hassan Hanafi, anthropocentric theology can have an influence or contribution to the progress of Muslims, because Muslims are forced to be able to see and analyze human problems from a theological persepective

Abstract

The talk of cosmology is a very interesting matter. Because studied by scientists, theologians and also Sufis. Cosmology according to Annaemarie Schimmel is categorized as Islamic mysticism. Jalaluddin Rumi is a Sufi figure who studies cosmology. Jalaluddin Rumi is able to explain or interpret the secrets of God and His creation by using poetry (in the form of imagery) with high love. The purpose of this research is to study or analyze Jalaluddin Rumi's concept of cosmology and its implications for how to treat the universe. This research is a research library (library research), using the description method. Then the analysis uses the historical continuity method. And continued with the internal communication method, with this method the works of Jalaluddin Rumi were analyzed. The result of this research is cosmology according to Jalaluddin Rumi that Allah SWT created this universe as a mirror of Himself, because all of this creation is none other than His tajalli. Allah, who was previously a hidden treasure, then manifests, appears and appears in His creation. Then Rumi also said that the motive for the creation of nature by God is love. It is love that prompted God to create nature. The implication of how to treat the universe is that humans must protect nature such as taking care of themselves, communicating well with nature, and not destroying the existing order of life.

Abstract

AbstractHumans are essentially God's creatures who are not free from mistakes. Therefore, to return to the right path, it is required to always do repentance. Repentance here means to return with the meaning of returning to the right path or staying away from the wrong path. Repentance is essentially regretting that the act was wrong and not repeating the same act again or leaving explicitly or seriously the act that led to evil. Sincere intentions are needed to get closer to Allah. If you don't have the intention, the act will be in vain and you will repeat the same action again. Al-Qusyairi as one of the Sufis of Islam assesses repentance is the first stage that a Sufi goes through to get closer to Allah. Repentance here is divided into three conditions, namely regretting the offense that has been committed, leaving the deviation directly and firmly deciding not to return to the same disobedience. This research is a library research using primary sources from the work of Abu Al-Qasim Al-Qusyairi and also using secondary sources as a supporter of this research.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the discourse of Islamization of science and technology which was initiated by Abdus Salam and Ahmad Baiquni. This research is qualitative by using exploratory method and content analysis. The results of the research found that the discourse of Islamization initiated by Abdus Salam is trying to develop and conquer technology with the basic principle of monotheism, that all knowledge originates from one substance. Meanwhile, according to Ahmad Baiquni, the Islamization of science is an attempt to refer back to the Qur'an as the source of everything, such as a source for science and technology. The moral message that can be gleaned from the discourse on the Islamization of science developed by Abdus Salam is that the source of knowledge is the One and Only One, namely Allah SWT. The more we dive into the knowledge, the deeper our belief in the Creator should be. Meanwhile, from the discourse of Islamization of knowledge and technology, Ahmad Baiquni can realize that in order to know and develop science and technology, the thing that humans can do is approach the Koran. Because the Koran is the source of knowledge it self.

Abstract

This article describes Sufism as a moral that can be applied in the 21st century. It is analyzed using a qualitative approach with exploratory and analytical methods. The results of this study are that Sufism as morality is a method/way to carry out the practice of Sufism in everyday life. Unlike tasawuf as a maqam, which must be organized or in order to live it, 21st century humans must follow a tarekat or require step by step in practice, tasawuf as morals does not have to be like that. In the 21st century, it is enough for humans to make the existing conceptions of Sufism as an attitude, behavior and actions, or to present the values of Sufism in the reality of their life. Also, you can choose any tasawuf conception that you want to contextualize according to the situation and conditions, without having to be systematized.

Abstract

Man is a creature of God who was made as caliph of God on this earth. In order to become a caliph or messenger of God on this earth, people must always strive to purify themselves or their souls must be clean from all reprehensible actions. Thus, a soul that has been dirty and far from praiseworthy deeds will not reach union with the Creator. The term for the purification of the soul in the study of Sufism is Tazkiyah An-Nafs. To get closer to God, people must first purify their souls. This type of research is literature research using primary data sources and secondary data. The results of this research explain that in order to get closer to God, humans must first purify their souls through three steps, namely takhalli, tahalli and tajalli. By carrying out the three processes above, humans will achieve soul purification and unite with the Creator. Furthermore, this Tazkiyah An-Nafs can also be used as a therapy in all problems that occur in modern society. This can be seen in acts of patience, repentance, contentment and so on.

Abstract

This paper examines Islamic thought and Arkoun's critique of the construction of Islamic thought by actualizing existing realities. The research method in this paper is exploratory descriptive research, this study aims to describe or describe the problem under study. While the exploratory method serves to deepen the study in a problem that is being studied. Arkoun as one of the Islamic thinkers who originated from al Jazair but was strongly influenced by French thought, by collaborating with new ideas in unraveling logocentrism in Islamic thought, especially in the stagnation and stagnation of Islamic thought and epistemology which is considered final. By looking at Arkoun's various criticisms of logocentrism and epistemology. Arkoun considered that there are many layers that have covered Islamic thought so that it does not see the development of science that occurs and Islamic thought which only focuses on some studies such as theology, Sufism and fiqh, does not see the development of reality. Therefore, it is necessary to re-examine or transform thinking by looking at reality and the development of epistemology by looking at relity.

Abstract

The development of LGBT in Indonesia is getting more and more prominent. LGBT people began to dare to use various ways to show the existence of their group by continuing to exist by organizing various activities, one of which was through organizing a very lively beauty contest specifically for transgender people (waria) both at national and international levels under the name Miss queen. The existence of positive appreciation and praise for the implementation of the contest shows that Indonesian citizens, who are majority adherents of Ahlus Sunnah Wal Jama'ah Islam, are starting to accept this deviant phenomenon. Through a sociological approach, the researcher tries to reveal how Miss queen is from the theological view of Ahlus Sunnah wal Jama'ah. The researcher found that in the theology of Ahlus Sunnah wal Jamaah, it is firmly stated that LGBT is categorized as a despicable act and it is forbidden for its adherents to promote, support, and campaign for LGBT activities, including Miss queen.

Abstract

Among the figures of modernism in Islam are Muhammad Abduh (1849–1905) and Rasyid Rida (1865–1935). These two modernist figures are teachers and students. This study analyzes the views of modernism from the two figures. Where this research is a qualitative research using exploratory methods and data analysis. The results obtained from this study are: the thoughts of modernism by Muhammad Abduh, which are related to reason and revelation that the teachings of the Koran and Hadith regarding social issues are only principles and basics. The principle is general without details, all of which can be adapted to the demands of the times. In order to adapt it to these demands in a modern way, it is necessary to have a new interpretation and for that it is necessary to open the door to ijtihad. Meanwhile, according to Rasyid Rida, one of the causes of the ummah to retreat is due to fatalism, therefore a work ethic is needed to advance Muslims. The work ethic is that Muslims must be active, try hard, and be willing to sacrifice their wealth and soul, in order to achieve the ideals of struggle. As for education for Rasyid Rida, general education reform needs to be carried out for traditional schools which so far only discuss religious issues. Abstrak Di antara tokoh modernisme dalam Islam yaitu Muhammad Abduh (1849–1905) dan Rasyid Ridha (1865–1935). Kedua tokoh modernisme ini merupakan guru dan murid. Penelitian ini menganalisis tentang pandangan modernisme dari kedua tokoh tersebut. Dimana penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kualitatif dengan menggunakan metode eksploratif dan analisis data. Adapun hasil yang didapatkan dari penelitian ini yaitu: pemikiran modernisme yang dilakukan Muhammad Abduh yaitu berkaitan dengan akal dan wahyu bahwa ajaran-ajaran al-Quran dan Hadis mengenai soal-soal kemasyarakatan hanya merupakan prinsip dan dasar saja. Prinsip itu bersifat umum tanpa perincian yang kesemuanya itu dapat disesuaikan dengan tuntutan zaman. Untuk menyesuaikannya dengan tuntutan itu dengan modern, perlu diadakan interpretasi baru dan untuk itu perlu pintu ijtihad dibuka. Sementara menurut Rasyid Ridha salah satu penyebab umat mundur adalah karena fatalisme oleh karenanya perlu etos kerja untuk memajukan umat Islam. Etos kerja yaitu umat Islam harus bersikap aktif, berusaha keras, dan rela memberi pengorbanan harta dan juga jiwa, demi mencapai cita-cita perjuangan. Adapun mengenai pendidikan bagi Rasyid Ridha pembaharuan pendidikan umum perlu dilakukan untuk sekolah-sekolah tradisional yang selama ini hanya membahas masalah keagaamaan saja.

Abstract

The wish of Muhammad Natsir  is just how to realize Indonesia as independent, peaceful, prosperous, and just state. So, its logic if he given a nickname as leader of freedom who integrates with the other, Soekarno, in exterminating colonizer – Dutch colonization. Although they are in difference of opinion, but still in building communication each other openly.Muhammad Natsir rejects secularism against state as implemented by movement of Kamal Attaturk in Turkish. He said that Islam is not only merely a religion but also a philosophy of life which covers political aspects, economy, social and culture. Islam doesn’t separate between religion and state, but its primary one. ( D.P. Sati Alimin, 1957: h. IX ) Lesson  of  the  story  can  become  evidence  of  reflection  and  understood  that  in political field the different opinon doesn’t bring enmity, but its mercy and as development of democracy dynamics. Muhammad Natsir consistently refuses all thoughts  that weaken existence of Islam in state such as he opposes Soekarno’s nationalism ideas. This reality is indicated that Muhammad Natsir is a prominent leader of Islam nationalist since the age of Dutch colonization. He is also one of speakers and mediators of his group in verious cases that relate Islam and mankind, namely the correlation between religion and state. Beside that, Natsir’s ability   integrates  His view with his nationalism paradigm, and how then it becomes important one to be studied and thought of its struggle values for next Moslem generation. Actually,  the  above  matter  still  becomes  roof  nowdays.  It  can  be  proven  and indicated by appearing Moslem thinkers and secular thinkers whom they raise voice to fight for their each idea. Even though, deliberation about the correlation of religion and state still can’t be solved untill now. For that reason, this writing is expected as necessary one to be committed.
