Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of technology, trust and risk, and Sharia compliance on the adoption of Sharia-based cashless payment systems among the people of Medan City. A quantitative approach was employed using a survey method through questionnaires distributed to respondents who were familiar with or had experience using Sharia-based cashless payment services. The data were analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling-Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS) with SmartPLS software. The results indicate that technology has a significant effect on the adoption of Sharia-based cashless payments, with a p-value of 0.027. Meanwhile, trust and risk (p-value = 0.462) and Sharia compliance (p-value = 0.166) do not have a significant effect on adoption. The R-Square value of 0.143 indicates that the independent variables explain 14.3% of the variance in Sharia-based cashless payment adoption, while the remaining variance is influenced by other factors outside the research model. These findings suggest that technology is the primary factor influencing users’ decisions to adopt Sharia-based digital payment services. The study provides practical insights for Islamic banks, digital payment providers, and regulators in developing a more effective, inclusive, and sustainable Islamic digital payment ecosystem.

Abstract

Poverty is a socioeconomic issue that remains a key focus of development in Indonesia. Poverty rates are influenced by various factors, including population size, unemployment rates, and minimum wage policies. This study aims to analyze the impact of population size, unemployment rates, and minimum wages on poverty rates in Indonesia. The research method employed is a quantitative approach using panel data analysis covering 33 provinces in Indonesia over the 2015–2023 period. The data used are secondary data obtained from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) and other relevant sources. The analysis techniques employed include the selection of panel data models (Common Effect Model, Fixed Effect Model, and Random Effect Model) as well as testing of classical assumptions. The results indicate that, simultaneously, population size, unemployment rates, and minimum wage policies have a significant impact on poverty rates in Indonesia. These findings indicate that population size, unemployment rates, and minimum wage policies are contributing factors to the high poverty rate in Indonesia. Therefore, the government is expected to formulate policies focused on controlling population growth, reducing unemployment rates, and improving workers’ welfare to sustainably reduce poverty levels.

Abstract

Dividend policy is one of the strategic decisions in financial management that determines the distribution of corporate profits to shareholders. In Islamic banking, dividend policy is not merely related to financial considerations but must also reflect the principles of justice and public welfare in accordance with the objectives of Maqasid al-Shariah. However, dividend policies in Islamic banking are still predominantly assessed from a shareholder value perspective, while the issue of equitable profit distribution among stakeholders has received limited attention. This study aims to analyze the orientation of dividend policy in Islamic banking, its implications for stakeholder welfare, and the relevance of Maqasid al-Shariah as a framework for evaluating the fairness of profit distribution. The research employs a qualitative approach using a library research method. Data were collected from various literature sources, including scholarly journal articles, academic books, industry reports, and relevant documents, and were analyzed using thematic analysis techniques. The findings indicate that dividend policy in Islamic banking remains predominantly oriented toward shareholder value, positioning shareholders as the primary beneficiaries of profit distribution. Meanwhile, stakeholder theory and the Maqasid al-Shariah perspective emphasize the importance of a more equitable distribution of benefits among all parties contributing to corporate value creation. The study finds that the principles of ?if? al-m?l (protection of wealth), al-‘adl (justice), and ma?la?ah (public welfare) can serve as evaluative instruments to assess the extent to which dividend policy creates a balance between shareholder interests, stakeholder welfare, and corporate sustainability. As a theoretical contribution, this research proposes a Maqasid-Based Dividend Policy Framework as a dividend policy model that integrates financial objectives with Shariah objectives in Islamic banking. The proposed framework also provides practical implications for Islamic banking institutions in designing dividend policies that are sustainable, equitable, and aligned with Shariah objectives as well as stakeholder welfare.

Abstract

This study aims to map the development of research on the management and development of cash waqf, identify the main themes, management approaches, development models, and prepare research gaps and future research agendas based on the synthesis of scientific literature. The research uses the Systematic Literature Review (SLR) approach with the stages of identification, screening, feasibility assessment, and literature synthesis following the PRISMA flow. Data was obtained from the Scopus database using keywords related to cash waqf management, cash waqf development, cash waqf innovation, Islamic philanthropy, and Islamic Social Finance. Based on the selection process, as many as 22 articles met the inclusion criteria and were analyzed thematically. The results of the study show that publications regarding cash waqf have increased significantly, especially since 2022. The research theme is dominated by governance, integration of Islamic Social Finance, institutional innovation, digitalization, sustainable development, financial inclusion, and economic empowerment. This study also identifies that the study of cash waqf is still dominated by case studies in certain countries, so a more comprehensive and cross-contextual research is needed. This research concludes that cash waqf has developed into a strategic instrument in the Islamic Social Finance ecosystem that requires professional, innovative, and sustainable governance. The research findings contribute in the form of mapping scientific developments, identifying research gaps, and preparing future research agendas that can be a reference for academics, regulators, and waqf management institutions in developing a more effective and sustainable waqf cash management system.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the development of studies on the phenomenon of flexing in the digital era and map the main topics that have become the focus of research over the past decade. The phenomenon of flexing, which refers to the behavior of showing off wealth, achievements, or lifestyle on social media, has become an important issue in digital social and economic studies because it is related to consumptive behavior, self-image, and the dynamics of interaction in virtual spaces. The method used in this study is bibliometric analysis, with publication data from the period 2015–2025 which produced 343 articles obtained from relevant scientific databases. The data were analyzed using VOSviewer software to visualize keyword networks, relationships between authors, and thematic clusters. Publication trend analysis was also conducted to observe the development of the number of researches each year. The results of the study showed a significant increase in the number of publications related to flexing, especially starting in 2020 and reaching its peak in 2022. Bibliometric visualization identified four main objectives, namely (1) flexing and consumer lifestyle, (2) personal branding and digital identity, (3) digital literacy and ethics, and (4) social psychology perspectives related to validation needs. The keyword network shows that the terms “ human ” and “ social media digitalization ” are the center of connection in the research. Overall, this study provides a comprehensive overview of the direction of flexing research development and opens up opportunities for further research on the psychological, social and ethical impacts of digital in the future.
