Abstract

The aims of this study was to describe the development of basic skills students in achemistry laboratory carrying out the work. This study was conducted using a qualitative approachwith the subject of the research is 603 students consisting of 8 classes of X grade, 7 classes of XIgrade and 7 classes of XII grade. Data were collected with observation papers. The results showedonly 8 out of 10 aspects of the basic skills of laboratory work were observed. Five aspects of skillsclassified into very well categories and three categories of skills aspect quite well.

Abstract

Soap is a necessity for daily life, such as for bathing, washing, and cleaning other necessities. Normally various kinds of bacteria and fungi can live permanently on the skin, for example, such as thebacteria Staphyloccocus aureus. Antibacterial soap is used as a solution to this bacterial problem. Sumbawa oil is a natural ingredient that has the potential to be antibacterial in body wash. Sumbawa oil contains geraniol and citronellal, flavonoids, polyphenols and also contains saponins and tannins. The research objective was to find out what volume of Sumbawa oil is used to obtain the quality of liquid bath soap which has antibacterial content and meets SNI standards. This research is an experimental research in a laboratory by varying the volume of Sumbawa oil. The parameters measured in this study were the effect of variations in the volume of Sumbawa oil on antibacterial properties and pH of liquid bath soap. The findings in this study that the best antibacterial properties were found in the addition of 15 ml volume of Sumbawa oil with an average inhibition zone of 19.5-22.3 mm and a pH of 5 ml of Sumbawa oil volume with an average pH of 6.1. Based on the above findings, it can be concluded that the addition of Sumbawa oil has an effect on the antibacterial properties and pH of liquid bath soap.

Abstract

The influence of cooperative learning type TAI based on chemoentrepreneurship to entrepreneurship motivation and conceptual understanding of students on colloidal system concept. Colloidal system concept was a concept that requires highly analysis with mastery of concepts that must be understood and require students practice in daily life. Learning will be more meaningful and provide a deep understanding of the learners when learning adapted to the characteristics of the subject matter. One effective solution was implement the cooperative learning type TAI based on chemoentrepreneurship. This study aimed to determine the influence of cooperative learning type TAI based on chemoentrepreneurship to entrepreneurship motivation and conceptual understanding of students. The study design used was pretest-posttest control group design, the sampling technique used cluster random sampling. The population in this study were all students of grade XII IPA SMA AL-Hamzar, Thatwas 50 students were divided into an experimental group of 26 students and a control group of 24 students. Entrepreneurship motivation analysis technique using multivariate test obtained scores of experimental group 63%, 74% and score of control group 66%, 68%. While conceptual understanding data using multivariate test with SPSS 16.0 for windows which scores obtained from initial test and final test on the conceptual understanding was no difference between the experimental group and control group that why used T test. Results obtained there was significant influences of cooperative learning type TAI based on chemoentrepreneurship to entrepreneurship motivation and it had no influence on students' conceptual understanding with sig = 0.304 > 0.05. So it can be concluded that there was no influence of cooperative learning type TAI based on chemoentrepreneurship to conceptual understanding of students.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk melihat respon dan aktivitas siswa dan guru pada penerapan perangkat pembelajaran asam basa dengan berdasarkan pendekatan Somatis Auditori Visual Intelektual (SAVI) dalam kegiatan pembelajaran di kelas. Metode penelitian yang digunakan ialah pre-experimental design, dan desain penelitian yang digunakan ialah one-shot case study. Instrumen yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini ialah : (1) angket respon siswa; (2) lembar observasi kegiatan guru; (3) lembar observasi kegiatan siswa. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa: (1) respon siswa terhadap penerapan perangkat pembelajaran asam basa dengan pendekatan SAVI  baik, begitu juga dengan respon guru; (2) aktivitas siswa dan guru pada setiap pertemuan dalam penerapan perangkat pembelajaran asam basa dengan pendekatan Somatis Auditori Visual Intelektual (SAVI)  sangat baik. Berdasarkan hasil tersebut respon guru dan siswa terhadap penerapan perangkat pembelajaran asam basa dengan pendekatan SAVI dalam kelas baik.

Abstract

Teh (Camellia sinensis L) berpotensi besar sebagai obat dan pengawet bahan pangan karena mengandung zat antioksidan yaitu katekin dan tannin. Kedua senyawa ini merupakan derivat dari flavonoid serta telah dikenal sebagai fenol. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui ada tidaknya fenol dalam produk komersial teh hijau serta mengukur kadar fenol totalnya menggunakan spektofotometer UV-Vis. Sampel yang digunakan adalah 5 macam produk komersial teh hijau yakni (1) Sampel A ; (2) Sampel B ; (3) Sampel C ; (4) Sampel D ; dan (5) Sampel E. Sampel ini diambil secara acak (random) dari berbagai jenis teh hijau produk komersial yang ada di kota Mataram. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, rata-rata kadar fenol total dari kelima jenis produk teh hijau berturut-turut adalah 4,618 gr/kg; 4,600 gr/kg; 5,012; 4,906; 4,408. Hasil uji statistik dengan ANAVA satu arah menunjukkan bahwa kadar fenol total dari kelima jenis produk teh tersebut tidak berbeda nyata pada α = 5%, yang ditunjukkan oleh Fhitung = 2,943 yang lebih kecil dari Ftabel (5%) = 3,48. Hal ini disebabkan oleh proses pengolahan teh hijau secara umum relatif sama di setiap perusahaan dan varietas teh yang digunakan sebagai produk juga sama yaitu varietas Assamica.

Abstract

Pumpkin (Cucurbita moschata Durch) is one of the vegetable plants that are generally consumed as food. Pumpkin skin is a waste that has potential as a raw material for making bioplastics because it has pectin content. The characteristics of pectin that are gel become a reference in making bioplastics. Bioplastic synthesis consists of four steps, namely the making of pumpkin peel flour, pectin extraction, bioplastic synthesis, and bioplastic characterization. The experimental results show that pumpkin skin waste can be extracted with HCl solution and produce pectin in a ratio of0.1:10 grams (w/w). The results of FTIR spectra characterization showed that bioplastics included pectin which produced absorption of C = O carbonyl groups in 1645 - 1625 cm-1 and C-O stretch groups at 1101 - 1104 cm-1. Bioplastics produced have yellow characteristic. Pumpkin skin waste bioplastics are expected to be an alternative solution to the utilization of waste into products.

Abstract

Acid-base material and the salt is a chemical material first in the junior and considered difficult by students. In addition, students are less able to associate the material with any problems or phenomena in everyday life. The solution of this problem is to develop a learning device-oriented models based Active Inquiry (ABI). This study aimed to develop a learning device in the form of student activity sheet (LKS) oriented learning model based Active Inquiry (ABI) to improve scientific literacy in acid material bases and salts. This research was the development of the ADDIE model design consisting of five phases: (1) Analyze phase, (2) the define phase, (3) develop phase, (4) the stage of implementation, and (5) evaluation stage. Results of development validator validated by three experts, one validator practitioners, and using the instrument validation of a questionnaire, as well as small group trial to 10 students of class VIII SMPN 4 BatukliangNorth. Quantitative data validation results were analyzed by percentage formula. Qualitative data in the form of comments and suggestions for improvement of the validator was used as consideration to revise the learning device developed. Based on a questionnaire validated by expert appraisal to the learning device development results obtained by the average percentage of expert lecturers, teachers, practitioners, and testing a limited group * 83%, 94,28% and 96.46%. Test the effectiveness of products to increase scientific literacy using the formula N-gain obtained an average of 0.5 where improvement is average. Based on the results obtained, the learning device developed very decent tested in larger groups, and these devices can improve the scientific literacy of students.

Abstract

The Effect of Problem Based Learning Model Orientation Chemo Entrepreneurship toward Students Chemistry Learning Result. (Supervised by Suryati and Devi Qurniati) This research is quasi experimental research. The population of this research is consisting of two classes with 65 students. The technic of collecting data is nonprobability sampling. The gambling  technic  is  used  to  decide  the  experimental  class  and  control  class.  By  using gambling technic are decided XI IPA 1 as control class using conventional approach and XI IPA 2 as experimental  class using PBL model orientation CEP. From instruments  25 test items is valid with reliability result is 0,887. The result of the study is (1) the learning process in class using PBL orientation CEP and conventional approach are going well. That is based on the average result of experimental class is 74% and the average result of control class is 71, 35%.  (2) The application  of PBL  orientation  CEP  in colloid  system  has good  effect toward student learning result. That is based on t-count 2,593 > t-table 1, 669 with average cognitive result of experimental class is 76,95 and control class is 69,33. While for affective experimental class is 74,59 and control class 67,29.

Abstract

Pembelajaran IPA banyak menyajikan masalah-masalah yang ada dikehidupan sehari-hari misalkan peristiwa pencemaran lingkungan. Setiap orang membutuhkan keterampilan berpikir tingkat tinggi untuk menghadapi setiap masalah dengan baik. Salah satu bentuk keterampilan berpikir tingkat tinggi adalah keterampilan berpikir kritis. Model yang dapat melatih keterampilan berpikir kritis adalah model discovery learning. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui pengaruh model discovery learning terhadap keterampilan berpikir kritis siswa SMP pada materi pencemaran lingkungan. Jenis penelitian ini adalah quasi experimental dengan desain Posttest-only Nonequivalent Control Group Design. Populasi penelitian ini adalah semua kelas VII SMPN 4 Praya Tengah Tahun Pelajaran 2014/2015 yang terdiri atas 2 kelas. Sampel diambil dengan tekhnik sampling jenuh sehingga semua populasi dijadikan sampel. Data hasil penelitian dianalisis menggunakan uji-t pada taraf signifikansi 5 % dengan bantuan SPSS 16.0 For Windows. Hasil analisis diperoleh nilai signifikan data keterampilan berpikir kritis sebesar 0,034. Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa ada pengaruh model discovery learning terhadap keterampilan berpikir kritis siswa pada materi pencemaran lingkungan.

Abstract

Acid-base material is one subject that is considered difficult by students. In addition, students are less able to associate material with a problem or phenomenon in everyday life. The development of a teaching material in the form of modules can be seen as a solution to this problem. This study aims to develop a prototype in the form of developing contextual-based chemical modules to build students' conceptual understanding of acid-base material. This research is a development research with ADDIE model design (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation). The results of the development were validated by two expert validators, one practitioner validator and ten MA Al-Mansyurati NW Aik Bukak students as students' limited test validators. Quantitative data from the results of feasibility validation were analyzed by percentage formula. Qualitative data in the form of responses and suggestions for improvement from the validator are used as considerations to make revisions to the modules developed. In general, the validator's assessment of the results of the development obtained an average percentage of material expert validators 88.8%, product design expert validators 95%, practitioner validators 92%, and limited trials of students 85.28%. This shows that the developed module is very feasible to proceed to the effectiveness test phase. Thus it can be concluded that the contextually based modules are declared to be feasible with very good quality.
