Abstract

Abstract

The quality of health services is still not optimal, especially in terms of patient dissatisfaction with drug services at pharmacies. A more efficient system can be built only if the waiting time evaluation has been carried out at pharmacies that provide drug prescriptions for patients. This study aims to evaluate the waiting time for prescription services at pharmacies to achieve patient satisfaction with drug services at pharmacies. In this study, Angkasa Farma's pharmacy became the subject of evaluation. The study was conducted with an observational design using descriptive analysis. The waiting time data obtained were then analyzed descriptively and compared with the minimum service standard of waiting time, this is for two types of drugs (prepared drugs and compound drugs). The results of the study based on a sample of 100 recipes and 100 non-concoction recipes are the number of recipes that meet the standards for prescription recipes as many as 37 recipes and for non-concoction recipes as many as 95 recipes. The average waiting time for concoction recipe services is 41.47 minutes and the average waiting time for non-concoction prescription services is 21.29 minutes. The average waiting time for non-concoction prescription services has met the standard, while the waiting time for blended prescription services has not met the standards according to the Regulation of the Minister of Health of the Republic of Indonesia.

Abstract

The implementation of the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model for medical students has long been initiated to be integrated into the learning system and curriculum, however, empirical support for the application of the PBL model to medical students is still weak, becoming an obstacle. On the one hand, the need for critical thinking development among medical students is increasingly urgent, this is related to their future assignments in a more complex health care system that requires critical thinking ability. Our current study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of the problem-based learning (PBL) model on improving the critical thinking ability of medical students in terms of cognitive style. This study is an experimental study (one group pretest-posttest design) involving 21 medical students (medical students') in phytochemistry courses at one of the universities providing medical and nursing science programs in Indonesia. The study started by giving a cognitive style test using the GEFT (Group Embedded Figure Test) instrument to classify students into FD and FI cognitive styles, pretest, learning implementation using the PBL model (carried out for five meetings), and posttest. The pretest and posttest used a critical thinking ability test instrument in the form of an essay test. Descriptive and statistical analyzes were performed to evaluate the effectiveness of the PBL model. The results of the study show that the PBL model has been convincingly effective in improving students' critical thinking ability in phytochemistry courses for both FD/FI cognitive style modes. Based on these findings, we recommend the use of the PBL model in extensive and intensive learning to develop the critical thinking ability of medical students

Abstract

One of the most famous spice species that lives in the tropics is black pepper (Piper nigrum L.). The study of piperine paved the way for its development as a bioactive compound in the treatment of various diseases, this is based on the ancient healing tradition of using black pepper. Our current study aims to isolate and characterize the bioactive compound piperine in Piper nigrum L. Black pepper was extracted with ethanol using the basic soxhletation and percolation methods. The results in the study showed that the extract from the Sokhlet process was yellowish moss green, and the piperine crystal color was yellow and shaped like a needle. Thin layer chromatography (TLC) results were observed using a UV-Vis spectrophotometer with different eluents and different Rf values were obtained. In addition, observations on the IR spectrum show that the piperine structure has been formed. This study provides an opportunity for a more in-depth exploration of the structure of piperine and future studies are very important to identify the potential utilization of piperine, especially as a basic material in the treatment of various diseases.
