Abstract

Teaching modules are learning tools in the merdeka curriculum. The aim of this research is to analyze the merdeka curriculum teaching modules used by educators in teaching chemistry. Quantitative descriptive methods were used in this research, and data collection techniques used measurement and documentation. The data collection tool is a learning tool review sheet that has been validated by two experts using the Gregory test. The object studied was the merdeka curriculum teaching module used by class X chemistry educators at SMAN 10 Pontianak in a total of six meetings. Data analysis was carried out based on scores on each component of the teaching module. Based on the data obtained from the analyzed teaching module components, it obtained a score of 88.3 and was included in the good category. Thus, it can be concluded that the components contained in the teaching module are in accordance with the merdeka curriculum learning and assessment guidelines, and the module is good for use in learning activities.

Abstract

Due to its low carbon content, mild steel is prone to corrosion. Therefore, corrosion inhibitors are needed to decrease the corrosive rate of mild steel. This research aims to investigate the influence of adding potassium iodide to miana leaves extract (Coleus scutellaroides (L.) Benth.) (MLE) on the corrosion rate of mild steel, identify the type of adsorption, synergistic effects and characterize the surface of mild steel both before and after the addition of potassium iodide. The weight loss method is employed to test the corrosion rate, and the type of adsorption is identified through thermodynamic calculations. Surface characterization is evaluated using Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR) and Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM). As potassium iodide is added, the weight loss findings show an increase in inhibitory efficiency. When potassium iodide concentration was 0.4 g/L and temperature was 30°C, the maximum inhibitory efficiency was attained, which was 92.784%. Characterization analysis indicates the interaction between potassium iodide and MLE with the surface of mild steel. This research has not been explored yet and is expected to provide information on the use of potassium iodide and MLE as environmentally friendly corrosion inhibitors.

Abstract

The current condition is still limited to analytical chemistry teaching materials that are integrated with research results, only using Analytical Chemistry textbooks as teaching materials or in the form of e-books. This is one of the causes of the lack of student interest in participating in the teaching and learning process. The purpose of this research is to produce innovative teaching materials in analytical chemistry based on research results, aiming to enhance students' interest in learning. This research is the initial stage as a basis for developing analytical chemistry e-modules integrated with research results. The development model used is ADDIE which consists of five stages, namely Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation and Evaluation. This research is limited to the needs analysis stage which includes RPS analysis, analysis of problems and needs of lecturers and problems and needs of students. Data collection instruments used interviews and questionnaires. The subjects of this study consisted of 6 Analytical Chemistry lecturers and 59 students from Riau Province, Riau Islands, North Sumatra, and West Java. The research results of this preliminary analysis include RPS analysis where there are 10 topics of study material and based on the needs questionnaire the topic of quantitative analysis is the topic with the highest percentage to be developed into an e-module. Then also obtained the results that there are still some shortcomings with the teaching materials used today, so that 98% of lecturers and students stated that they need the development of teaching materials, especially those that are digital-based and can be integrated with research results which are evidence of the implementation of analytical chemistry learning theory.

Abstract

This study aims to develop a video tutorial for simple distillation equipment for making essential oils that is suitable for use in junior high school chemistry courses. The research is a development research using the Design Thinking approach. The Design Thinking approach includes five steps, namely: empathic, definition, idea, prototype, and test. The instruments used in this study are student response questionnaires and validity on video tutorials for simple distillation equipment for making essential oils. The results of validation and student response to the video were analyzed using a Guttman scale and obtained a percentage of validation of the feasibility of media design 100% with a very valid category, articulation and intonation 100% with a very valid category, operation 100% with a very valid category, and suitability of material with sub-CPMK 100% with a very valid category. The percentage in the response test, namely the media display indicator 96.8% with a very good category, 100% operation with a very good category, and 98.95% usefulness with a very good category. Thus it can be concluded that the results of the analysis of video tutorial development are worth testing in the learning process.

Abstract

The objective of this study is to conduct a bibliometric analysis using VOSviewer on the research progress of the conducting polymer for wearable sensors topic. Data was extracted from the Dimensions database from 2014 to August 2023. 268 Dimensions articles were relevant to the keywords. The title and abstract from the metadata were employed to be analyzed for co-occurrence using VOSviewer. As a result, 9544 terms were obtained through the search method, but only 184 met the threshold of 10 minimum occurrences in all retrieved articles and were selected for further analysis. There was a consistent upward trend in publication numbers between 2014 to August 2023. Based on the network visualization of keyword co-occurrence, it evidenced six clusters that group all specific keywords based on the common themes. The most recent keywords (occurred between 2021 and 2022) included conductive hydrogel, polymer hydrogel, flexible sensor, MXene, strain sensor, and stretchable strain sensor. Based on this study, it is suggested to discover more about conducting and flexible hydrogel materials and the possibilities to enhance the electrical and mechanical properties of conducting polymers by introducing MXene. The materials are viewed for applications such as flexible strain sensors and other wearable sensors.

Abstract

Charcoal is an important component in the effort to provide clean water. One of the water qualities that need to be considered is the level of hardness. Reducing the level of hardness can be done with activated charcoal. The production of activated charcoal uses many synthetic materials. Therefore, aim of research is to produce, test the performance, and characterization of activated charcoal made with natural acids. The stages of this research are charcoal preparation and natural acid activator, carbonization, activation with natural acids (Averrhoa bilimbi L. and Citrus aurantifolia S.), and characterization. The production results were tested for adsorbing ability and characterization using FTIR, SEM, and XRD to determine the functional groups, structure, and components. The results showed that activated charcoal produced using natural acids had better performance in adsorbing. Characterization with FTIR showed the absorption of C-H functional groups shown at 785 cm-1, 1100 cm-1 for C-O functional groups, 3368 cm-1 for O-H stretching vibration groups. Typical active charcoal groups were also detected at wave numbers 1704 cm-1for C=O functional groups and 1575 cm-1 for C=C groups. Characterization with XRD showed the same pattern between charcoal produced with natural acids and the control. SEM images showed clear pores on the surface of the activated charcoal. Thus, natural acids can really be a candidate for activator replacement in the production of activated charcoal that applies the principles of green chemistry.

Abstract

It is important for students to learn scientific literacy because it’s related to how students understand the environment and face issues in modern society. Students with excellent scientific literacy skills are able to apply the concepts and facts learned at school in everyday situations. The purpose of this research is to provide an overview of students’ scientific literacy at SMA Negeri 11 Pontianak. The research method used is descriptive research with a quantitative approach. The population under study consists of grade XI science students, including XI IPA 1, XI IPA 2, and XI IPA 3. Sample selection employs purposive sampling technique, considering specific factors such as students who have received instruction from teachers in the subject of electrolyte solutions and possess a good academic abilities. A total of 37 students from class XI IPA 2 are chosen as research samples. Data collection technique involves measurement and communications, utilizing instruments in the form of five essay questions that have been tested for validity. Based on the research data, it is known that aspect of explaining scientific phenomena reached 60,47%, while in determine the properties and samples of solutions from electrical conductivity experimental data, percentage is 75%. To provide conclusions and opnions on electrolyte test results from everyday life phenomena reached 61,93%. If averaged, overall, students’ scientific literacy skills are in the moderate category, with an average score of  65,251%.
