Abstract

The wheat flour processing industry is a food industry in the form of production of wheat flour needs which has the main raw material in the form of wheat. The increasing demand and increasing competition in the wheat flour industry require the company to maintain its effectiveness level, one of which is machine effectiveness. One example of a machine at a wheat flour processing industry is the BG-04 packer machine. This study aims to analyze the causes of the non-achievement of the effectiveness of the BG-04 Packer machine which is indicated by the Overall Equipment Effectiveness value standard of 85% and the calculation of its constituent elements, namely Availability, Performance, and Quality. The results showed that the Overall Equipment Effectiveness value of the BG-04 Packer Machine was 60%, meaning that it is still far from effective. From the results of the analysis of six big losses and pareto diagrams show the cause of the low ineffectiveness iddling and minor stopages losses caused by machine stops in a short duration but often occurs. Therefore, it is necessary to make improvements through the results of the 5W+1H analysis, namely conducting training on understanding the machine and how to fix it, making the ergonomic chair of the packer operator, making a rubber backer replacement schedule outside production hours, making and applying SOP, processing distribution scheduling with the most optimal method of cleaning the machine before use.

Abstract

The coal mining industry is one of the largest contributors to Indonesia’s economy and greenhouse gas emissions at the same time. Indonesian coal mining companies will inevitably expand their business to meet the demand and targets. But Indonesia already set its ambition to become a net-zero country by 2060 or earlier. Without a robust decarbonization strategy at the company level, Indonesia will face difficulties meeting the net-zero target. This study proposes to use one of the Multi-Criteria Decision Analysis, Technique for Order of Preference by Similarity to Ideal, Solution method within the Political, Economic, Social, Technology, Environmental, and Legal criteria to assess five prioritized decarbonization strategies, which are renewable energy, equipment electrification, business shifting, process efficiency, carbon offset. The analysis will evaluate essential sub-criteria such as regulation compliance, investment, social acceptance, technological readiness, and emissions reduction. The data was acquired from a survey of coal mining stakeholders, other journal reviews, and company disclosures. The final results show that process efficiency scores highest on the selected criteria due to high economic and technological value. Meanwhile, other criteria like carbon offset, renewable energy use, and equipment electrification receive lower scores.

Abstract

One of the companies in East Bekasi is a company engaged in the bread industry, with the product being sandwiches. The purpose of this research is to perform raw material efficiency and cost savings of raw material inventory. In this study, identified the bread production process for 1 period (3 months). It is known that this company ordered raw materials, namely 2100 kg of flour and 480 kg of granulated sugar. However, in reality, only 1537 kg of wheat flour was used and 379 kg of granulated sugar. There is a difference between ordering raw materials and using raw materials so that the costs incurred in carrying out raw material inventory exceed the limits of the costs that have been determined by the company. The method used is the Economic Order Quantity (EOQ) method. The goal is to control the number of raw material orders made by this company and indirectly to save raw material inventory costs. The findings are comparing calculations by companies using EOQ, the efficiency of raw materials after using the EOQ method for wheat flour is 542 kg and granulated sugar is 93 kg and savings in raw material inventory costs for wheat flour is Rp. 156,437 and granulated sugar is Rp. 212,092

Abstract

Family Farma Pharmacy is a pharmacy that provides pharmaceutical services in Bekasi Regency. There are 50 types of medicines provided in this pharmacy, but there is no medicine grouping yet. Medicine inventory control is still done manually or by monitoring medicine stocks one by one. So there is no precise and effective calculation to determine total reorders. Therefore, the aim of this research is to grouping medicines, control medicine supplies and reorder it. The methods used are Always Better Control (ABC), Economic Order Quantity (EOQ), and Reorder Point (ROP). The findings obtained were by grouping 50 types of medicines to obtain 10 types of medicines belonging to group A, 10 types of medicines in Group B, and 30 types of medicines in Group C based on the results of the ABC method. Then the EOQ results showed that the optimal order for Cataflam 50 Mg was made for 158 strips. By reordering the Cataflam 50 Mg medicine when the medicine stock reaches 15 strips in each product inventory which still has 23 strips remaining based on the ROP results.

Abstract

One of the pivotal aspects of a company lies in its supply chain. The company must effectively and efficiently manage their supply chains to support production quality, achieve organizational goals, and ensure customer satisfaction. This research aims to determine the key performance indicators (KPIs) for the crumb rubber processing industry and provide suggestions for improving its supply chain performance. Supply chain performance measurement was conducted using the Supply Chain Operations Reference (SCOR) model in conjunction with the Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) method to determine the weights of the KPIs. The research found that the overall supply chain performance score for the crumb rubber company was 84.92, categorizing it as "Good." However, among the 26 Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) identified, three indicators (i.e. production of defective products, consumer complaints, and returns of defective products) fell into the "Poor" category. Hence, it is crucial for crumb rubber industry stakeholders to address these three criteria to enhance supply chain performance.

Abstract

West Sumatra Province has been designated by the Minister of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries as a Minapolitan area with seven regions in West Sumatra. Since the establishment of West Sumatra as a Minapolitan area, there has been no research examining the evaluation of suitability between planning and implementation of the Minapolitan fishing area development program in West Sumatra. The aim of this research is to determine a strategy for developing the Minapolitan area in West Sumatra which can improve the welfare of fishermen in the area. The data collection technique in this research is the primary data collection method in the form of field observations, interviews, FGDs and filling out questionnaires by respondents selected based on their knowledge of the Minapolitan area development program, such as representatives of the DKP, Port Service, business actors, and fishermen figures. The method used to determine strategic priorities for developing the Minapolitan area is using the Analytical Hierarchy Process approach. Based on the AHP calculation, the CR value <= 0.1 shows that respondents are consistent in making assessments and the resulting solutions are optimal. Likewise, for the CR value in the calculation for the assessment of each indicator, the CR value obtained is 0.0263 for the assessment of the supporting facility factor indicator, 0.0231 for the assessment of the supporting infrastructure factor indicator and 0.0061 for the assessment of the regional program factor indicator. The strategy obtained for developing the Minapolitan area is seen from the priority value between the highest factors, namely the supporting facilities and supporting infrastructure factors. The priority indicators that need to be immediately improved are the indicators for the availability of fishing ports, followed by the availability of fishing gear and the availability of clean water networks, the results obtained from the priority order of all the indicators assessed.

Abstract

Indonesia is listed as the second largest contributor to plastic waste in the world. The problem currently faced is the increasing amount of plastic waste which is one result of the business processes of companies using plastic packaging or plastic packaging manufacturers, one of the plastic packaging waste that comes from cooking oil packaging. The method to solve the problem of processing cooking oil packaging waste carried out in this study is to modify the existing system into a reverse logistics system. Currently, cooking oil companies have not implemented reverse logistics to reduce plastic packaging production. The reverse logistics system applied in this study is to modify cooking oil packages into packages that can be used repeatedly. The reverse logistics system that is applied is then modeled linerly to find out the minimal costs in implementing reverse logistics for the packaged cooking oil. Based on the development of the packaged cooking oil waste management model, it is known that the results of determining the model solution with the linear programming model are the minimal costs for reverse logistics of packaged cooking oil. The model is designed to do a sensitivity analysis by making changes to the reverse logistics cost parameters, changes in the reverse logistics cost parameters resulting in changes to the results that are directly proportional. The designed model is implemented using PT. XYZ which has a similarity with the designed system.

Abstract

In the batch process, the company uses the same process facilities to produce various types of products. This allows businesses to change production in response to changes in market demand. Batch processes are widely used in industry. In many cases, batch processes provide several benefits over continuous processes, especially when the industry wants to ensure and maintain the quality standards of its products. This paper proposes a behavioral model of a single-stage batch processing system, using the language of system dynamics. When run, the behavioral model will provide an overview of how the system behaves. The system dynamics language is a formulation of a system of ordinary differential equations that is extracted from the real system being studied, in the form of a stock and flow diagram. The computation of this diagram is further implemented using software. Because it is actually a calculus method, the system dynamics language provides output data much faster than discrete simulation modeling. In this paper, the system behavior modeled is mainly loading, processing and unloading activities. The verification results carried out by testing it on two different case examples show that the model can sufficiently describe the behavior of the conceptual system logically so that the model can enrich experimental tool options related to batch production processes in the future.

Abstract

PT. UMSurya Bina Bangsa is a company engaged in the production of Bottled Drinking Water (AMDK). The products produced by PT. UMSurya Bina Bangsa include Suli 5 in 120 ml and 240 ml sizes, as well as S-Five in 330 ml and 600 ml sizes. The issues faced by PT. UMSurya Bina Bangsa include Defects such as dented bottles and broken caps. The aim of this study is to improve the quality of bottled water products. The author of this study uses the integration of Six Sigma and Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA) methods to improve product quality. Based on the research results, the Root Cause Analysis (RCA) indicates that the majority of product Defects are caused by operator inaccuracy and the use of low-quality materials. Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA) results show that the highest RPN is caused by the bottle cap pressing process. From the Measure phase, sigma level calculations show a sigma value of 2.10 with a DPMO of 36,041. Improvement recommendations include creating racks for bottle caps to reduce Defects in broken caps, and adding dividers for bottles to prevent crushing while on the conveyor. From the estimated calculations, after implementing the improvement recommendations, the sigma level is expected to increase from 2.10 to 2.54.
