Abstract

The aim of this study is to analyze the many aspects of learning challenges that elementary school students encounter when learning science. The method of research was descriptive with a qualitative focus. All the students in classes IV, V, and VI were employed as research subjects. The researcher served as the instrument in this study, supplemented by interview, observation, and documentation criteria, while data analysis was accomplished through data reduction, presentation, and conclusion. As a result of the research, the largest degree of difficulty encountered by the students was with school facilities and infrastructure, at 96.73%, while the second highest level was with the learning media used by the teachers, at 82.45%. The next highest level was the indication of student interest in science lessons, which had a percentage value of 75%. This was because some students still did not comprehend how science was taught, as indicated by the lowest score of 73.90%. The existence of the challenges in science learning had a significant impact on student interest in learning and understanding level, resulting in a less effective teaching and learning process in the classroom. The solution to the above problems is for the teacher to obtain a better understanding of the students' needs while they are studying, for the teacher to employ a variety of learning media that entice students to learn, and for the principal to provide comprehensive facilities that support positive learning outcomes.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effectiveness of Moodle gamification on students' learning motivation related to online learning interest. The research subjects were selected with a purposive sampling technique, namely the class of 2018 (n=112), class of 2019 (n=98), and class of 2020 (n=60). This study uses mixed methods. Quantitative data processing, using two-way Anova to see the main effect, interaction effect, and t-test to see a simple effect. The study finds that Moodle gamification is considered quite effective in motivating students regarding online learning interest. This result draws on survey data for 2018 2019 and 2020 students showing a “yes” answer to the question “Did gamification (e.g., level up, activity completion, and activity restriction) in Moodle motivate you during your major?” is 78.40%; 83.30%; and 90.91%. These results provide information that gamification increases student motivation. The implication of this study is that when the motivation of students is formed through gamification it will develop students' abilities.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to analyze the reading interest index, inhibiting factors and efforts to increase reading interest in high school students equivalent in West Sumbawa Regency. The research approach used exploratory descriptive and Field Research with survey methods. The population of this study consisted of 1,754 students spread over 21 schools, with the purposive sampling technique and the numbers were calculated using the Slovin formula, so the total sample was 325 students. The instruments used to collect research data were non-test instruments in the form of questionnaires, interviews and literature reviews. The research data were then analyzed by categorizing the reading interest index. The results showed that: 1) High school students equivalent in West Sumbawa district with Gender Women have a higher interest in reading than men, but the index of reading interest was still in the "moderate" category; 2) High school students and equivalent in Brang Rea, Jereweh and Sekongkang Sub-districts have the highest reading interest index than other sub-districts, but the reading index in the three sub-districts is in the “moderate” category; 3) The inhibiting factors for increasing students' reading interest are internal and external factors, namely internal factors including self-motivation and activity/busyness, while external factors are the environment, facilities and infrastructure, and lack of education; 4) The concrete efforts that have been made by the West Sumbawa Regency Government to increase interest in reading are the establishment of the "Pemasyarakatan Gemar Membaca bagi Siswa dan Masyarakat di Kabupaten Sumbawa Barat" several years ago but it has not been going well so it needs optimization so that the objectives of this program can be achieved.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to analyze the impact of online learning on students' understanding and learning motivation with lecturer competence as a moderating variable. This research method used a survey method. The population in this study were all STIESIA Surabaya students and the sample in this study were STIESIA Surabaya students who were taking online lessons during the Covid-19 pandemic. The sample is 100 students and the sample was taken using non-probability sampling. Data collection techniques were carried out through online questionnaires given to STIESIA Surabaya students. The data analysis technique used SEM with a moderating relationship using AMOS 21 software. The results of this study indicated that (1) online learning has a positive and significant effect on student understanding; (2) online learning does not affect students' learning motivation; (3) Online learning has a positive and significant effect on students' understanding with lecturer competence as a moderating variable; 4) Online learning has no positive and significant effect on student learning motivation with lecturer competence as a moderating variable (lecturer competency is not a moderating variable or is not a moderating variable between online learning and student learning motivation). Based on the results of the research stated, it is hoped that it can help the learning process give implications for increasing student understanding during online lectures by maximizing the competence of lecturers.

This study aims to analyze the implementation of mathematics learning for dyscalculia students, the role of teachers and parents in helping dyscalculia students in online learning, and the impact of learning strategies for dyscalculia students on mathematics learning. The research method used is descriptive qualitative method with data sources one teacher, three students, and 3 parents of students. Interactive model data analysis includes data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. Data collection techniques are observation and interviews. The results of this study indicate that teachers carry out mathematics learning by preparing Learning Implementation Plans (RPP), syllabus and special notes for students with dyscalculia. The teacher uses three learning approaches in helping dyscalculia students, namely the direct approach, group approach, and individual approach. Furthermore, the impact of the teacher's strategy in student learning with dyscalculia can be seen in the cognitive, affective, and psychomotor aspects, which have positive progress.

This study indicates a difference between aspects of the nature of science in thematic and non-thematic science textbooks in grade VI elementary school. Non-Thematic textbooks have a higher percentage of science's nature than the nature of science in thematic textbooks. The product aspect has the highest rate, 97%, and the lowest aspect is the creativity aspect, which is 25%. This study is fundamental to analyze in detail the components of science's nature, which can later be used as a basis by teachers in choosing science textbooks in elementary schools so that learning can be carried out correctly and the nature of science can be taught to students.
