Abstract

Spinach is one of the most common types of green plants in Indonesia. This one plant is a type of vegetable that is easily processed for everyday food, from soup, pecel, gado-gado (Indonesian food), also chips. Amaranthus viridis also known as spinach pull out. In this study, observed the growth of spinach plants with ecoenzyme treatment. The treatment groups were: A (1.5% ecoenzyme), B (3% ecoenzyme), C (4.5% ecoenzyme), D (6% ecoenzyme), E (control/without treatment), F (NPK/ chemical fertilizer). Parameters observed were height, stem diameter, number of leaves, leaf diameter, wet weight and color. This type of research is experimental research and ANOVA data analysis techniques. The duration of the study was 27 days with 9 scheduled observations. Measurements were made in the afternoon, with reference to the observation parameters of stem height, leaf diameter, number of leaves, leaf diameter, leaf color and wet weight. The results of the observations showed that the ecoenzyme treatment was no better than the control and the NPK fertilizers showed that the height, stem diameter, number of leaves, leaf diameter, wet weight and color tended to be smaller. The conclusion of giving ecoenzymes at doses of 1.5%, 3%, 4.5% and 6% does not accelerate and tends to inhibit the growth of spinach (Amaranthus viridis).

Abstract

The BSD 2 urban area (City Park) is part of the green area development, and this can support the stability of the urban ecosystem in creating balanced ecological conditions within it, and of course there are many types of trees, such as Livistona saribus, Roystonea regia, Carbera manghas, and Elais guineensis in the BSD 2 area, but only one type of tree was studied, namely the Albizia saman tree, where ± 122 trees were found. This research aims to estimate and analyze the stored carbon (carbon stock) in Albizia saman trees, while the sampling method is random sampling and line transects, as well as the carbon stock measurement method by measuring biomass in the stands. The results of this research show that the average at a diameter of 0<10 m is 60.09 tons C/ha, then at a diameter >70<80 m it is 43048.86 tons C/ha, while the diameter of the tree is the largest in storing carbon found in diameters >40<50 m is 58326.43 tonnes C/ha. The conclusion of this research shows that the Albizia saman tree has a big role and contribution in reducing air pollution (CO2), so this becomes a reference or guideline for all parties, both government and society, to be able to cultivate and preserve this tree species in a good and sustainable manner. to support the development of the "Eco City" paradigm.

Abstract

Currently, Socio-Scientific Issues (SSI) are a learning approach that is widely used by educators, not only helping students to understand a topic but also improving students' scientific literacy skills, such as critical thinking, argumentation skills, and decision-making. Various studies related to SSI have been published but cannot provide specific recommendations for future SSI studies. Therefore, a research systematic review of literature related to SSI was carried out to identify and determine research trends related to SSI as a basis for conducting further SSI studies. In conducting this literature review, we collected SSI-related information from the Google Scholar publication database using socio-scientific issues as search keywords. In collecting and selecting it using PRISMA (Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Review and Meta-analysis), 155 articles were found that met the predetermined criteria for further analysis using Vosviewer. From the results of the analysis that has been done, decision-making is an item that has been studied a lot related to SSI. Thus, this item (decision-making) is recommended for further study.

Abstract

The paitan plant (Tithonia diversifolia) contains alkaloids, saponins, flavonoids, tannins and phenolics which have the potential to prevent Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF). This plant also has various insecticidal activities. In society, there are many mentions of the paitan plant, so people need to know the characteristics of this paitan plant. The aim of this research is to determine the morphological characterization and specific fragments of the paitan plant, as well as to determine the activity and effective concentration of the ethanol extract of paitan leaves as a repellent for the Aedes aegypti mosquito. Two types of methods were used, namely descriptive qualitative for observing morphology, specific fragments, pollen, and phytochemical screening, and experimental methods for mosquito repellent testing, and calculating the protective power of the ethanol extract of paitan leaves. The results obtained are flowers consisting of two shapes, namely ribbon flowers in the outer circle, infertile, and tube shapes in the inner circle. Stomata are anomocytic type, while trichomes are non-glandular multicellular type. Pollen characteristics, namely small size, colpate, number 3, aperture shaped trizonocolpate with echinate ornamentation. The screening results for the ethanol extract of paitan leaves were positive for containing metabolite compounds, such as flavonoids, alkaloids, tannins, saponins, terpenoids and phenolics. The results of the mosquito repellent test showed that the higher the concentration of the extract, the fewer mosquitoes that landed. Calculation of protective power shows that the most effective concentration in repelling mosquitoes is 15%, namely 93.64%. The conclusion is that paitan (Tithonia diversifolia) leaf extract has potential activity as a repellent against Aedes aegypti mosquitoes with the most effective concentration being 15%.

Abstract

Rasbora spilotaenia is one of the endemic fishes of Sumatra Island. Its natural habitat is found in Aek Kanan and is included in the administrative area of North Padang Lawas Regency. Until now there has been no data and information related to the bioecological aspects of R. spilotaenia reported from the North Padang Lawas Regency area. The aim of the study was to determine the bioecological aspects of R. spilotaenia and its conservation status in IUCN. The research conducted was exploratory with the determination of the observation station point by purposive sampling. Fish were caught using 2 different mesh sizes, namely sizes, ⅟₂ and ¼ inch. Samples of fish caught were measured in total length and weight, and the number of males and females were counted. Data were analysed using descriptive statistics. Based on the frequency distribution data, the most length class was found to be 6.5-7.8 cm (8 individuals) and the least was 5.1 -6.4 cm (0), the sex ratio between males and females (1:2), the highest population density at Station 2 (0. 91 individuals/100 m2) and lowest at Station 1 (0.06 individuals/100 m2), length-weight relationship with R2 value (0.9562), and parameters of mean temperature (27oC), brightness (111.33 cm), depth (1.01 m), current (0.46 m/s), pH (5.67), and DO (6.6 mg/L). It was concluded that the bioecological aspects of R. spilotaenia in Aek Kanan are still stable towards population conditions and natural habitats still support the life of fish, but for conservation status needs a little attention.
