Abstract

Spinach is one of the most common types of green plants in Indonesia. This one plant is a type of vegetable that is easily processed for everyday food, from soup, pecel, gado-gado (Indonesian food), also chips. Amaranthus viridis also known as spinach pull out. In this study, observed the growth of spinach plants with ecoenzyme treatment. The treatment groups were: A (1.5% ecoenzyme), B (3% ecoenzyme), C (4.5% ecoenzyme), D (6% ecoenzyme), E (control/without treatment), F (NPK/ chemical fertilizer). Parameters observed were height, stem diameter, number of leaves, leaf diameter, wet weight and color. This type of research is experimental research and ANOVA data analysis techniques. The duration of the study was 27 days with 9 scheduled observations. Measurements were made in the afternoon, with reference to the observation parameters of stem height, leaf diameter, number of leaves, leaf diameter, leaf color and wet weight. The results of the observations showed that the ecoenzyme treatment was no better than the control and the NPK fertilizers showed that the height, stem diameter, number of leaves, leaf diameter, wet weight and color tended to be smaller. The conclusion of giving ecoenzymes at doses of 1.5%, 3%, 4.5% and 6% does not accelerate and tends to inhibit the growth of spinach (Amaranthus viridis).

Abstract

Dendrobium lasinthera is an orchid that has considerable potential as a raw material for anti-cancer drugs and for the production of cut flowers. Therefore, this orchid is a plant with high economic value. This orchid has beautiful and long-lasting flowers. The demand for this orchid is increasing along with its diverse uses, so the propagation of this orchid needs to be increased. In vitro propagation is the most appropriate step to reproduce this orchid. One of the stages that determines the success of orchid propagation through tissue culture is the root induction stage before acclimatization. Using the right type and concentration of Growth Regulatory Substances (ZPT) is very important. This research aims to determine the effect of several NAA Growth Regulatory Substance (ZPT) concentrations and determine the best NAA concentration for Dendrobium lasianthera root induction. This study used a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with several NAA concentrations (Control (A); 0.5 mg/L (B), 1 mg/L (C), and 1.5 mg/L (D)), on Murashige & Skoog (MS) media. The results of this study show that NAA has a significant influence on the percentage of root formation, root emergence time, and root length in the Dendrobium lasianthera orchid. NAA 1.5 mg/L is the best concentration for induction of Dendrobium lasianthera orchid roots.

Abstract

Indonesia has islands that are very numerous and even reach tens of thousands. Each island is overgrown with different types of plants with their own characteristics including Kumala Island in East Kalimantan. Kumala Island is a delta of the Mahakam River that formed by river flow. The island is overgrown with many plants of various types. The diversity of plant species found on this island has never been identified so it becomes very interesting and important to conduct research related to plant identification as a conservation effort. This study aims to identify all types of plants found on Kumala Island as a form of conservation of the plants, on Kumala Island. The method used in this study is exploration of the predetermined research area. Each plant found was subjected to morphological observations, and the type was identified. The plant data obtained were analyzed using qualitative descriptive techniques. The results showed that 88 types of plants were identified consisting of 28 types of trees, 48 types of shrubs and 12 types of grass. The number of families identified was 44 families, of which 18 families included tree species, 24 families included shrub species and 2 families included grass species. The existence of plants on Kumala Island needs to be considered and conserved so that their existence remains protected.
