Abstract

The development of Artificial Intelligence (AI) has brought significant changes to the world of education, particularly in supporting teachers' work and student learning. This research examines the role of AI in helping teachers develop interactive and relevant teaching materials, facilitating student self-directed learning, and identifying challenges and ethical issues arising from its implementation. The research method used in this study is a literature review combined with case analysis of the use of AI-based learning platforms such as ChatGPT and other adaptive systems. The results show that AI offers significant potential for improving the efficiency of teaching material development, supporting personalized learning tailored to individual student needs, and enhancing student engagement through interactivity and real-time feedback. As a differentiated approach, this research also integrates Buddhist perspectives, particularly the concepts of sati (mindfulness) and paññā (wisdom) found in the Dhammapada, as well as ethical principles of learning from the Sigalovada Sutta. This perspective emphasizes the importance of balancing technological innovation with the development of wise and responsible character. This research identified several important challenges, such as disparities in access to digital technology across regions, privacy and data security concerns, potential bias in AI algorithms, and concerns about technological dependency that could diminish students' critical and reflective thinking skills. Therefore, while AI has transformative potential to support learning in the digital age, its implementation must be carried out ethically and wisely. A balanced approach between technological innovation and humanitarian values as taught in Buddhist teachings is key to creating an inclusive, equitable, and sustainable education ecosystem.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the relationship between the use of animated children's films and learning interest in Buddhist Religious Education among third-grade students at Maitreyawira Elementary School, Palembang. The background of this study is based on the need for engaging and motivating learning methods, particularly at the elementary school level. Animated films, as an audiovisual medium, are believed to stimulate student attention and engagement, while learning interest is an internal factor that influences learning outcomes. The research used a survey with a quantitative approach and correlation analysis techniques. The population in this study was all 132 third-grade students at Maitreyawira Elementary School, with a randomly selected sample of 57 students. The data collection instrument, a questionnaire that has been tested for validity and reliability, covered three main variables: animated films (X1), learning interest (X2), and learning outcomes (Y). Data normality was tested using the Kolmogorov-Smirnov test, while data analysis was conducted using simple correlation, partial correlation, and multiple correlation with a significance level of α = 0.05. The results of the study show that: (1) there is a significant relationship between children's animated films and student learning outcomes, (2) there is a significant relationship between learning interest and learning outcomes, and (3) there is a significant relationship between animated films and learning interest simultaneously towards learning outcomes. These findings conclude that the use of appropriate animated film media and increasing students' interest in learning can contribute positively to improving student learning outcomes, especially in the subject of Buddhist Religious Education.

Abstract

This research examines the integration of learning analytics in Buddhist education using a literature review approach. The study is conducted through a conceptual synthesis framework consisting of three stages: preliminary synthesis, intermediate synthesis, and final synthesis. The primary focus of the research is how learning analytics, as a data-driven technological tool, can be utilized to support personalized and meaningful learning processes, without neglecting the core values of Buddhist teachings. In this context, learning analytics is positioned not merely as a technical instrument, but as a reflective medium capable of incorporating the principles of sīla (ethics), samādhi (concentration), and prajñā (wisdom) into students' learning experiences. The analysis is conducted by considering three main elements: text, which encompasses the content of Buddhist teachings and student learning data; context, namely the dynamics of digital transformation in the spiritual education system; and discourse, namely the reinterpretation of Buddhist learning that is holistic, contemplative, and relevant to the needs of the times. The study's findings demonstrate that integrating learning analytics into Buddhist education enables the creation of a learning process that is not only adaptive and evidence-based, but also deeply spiritual and ethical. When implemented appropriately, learning analytics has the potential to support inclusive, mindfulness-based, and sustainable education—where technology is used not to replace spiritual values, but to enhance them. This study provides a conceptual contribution to the development of a digital pedagogical model that balances technological sophistication with spiritual depth, and encourages the wise and ethical use of data in religious education. These findings can provide a starting point for curriculum designers, educators, and educational technology developers in designing Buddhist learning approaches relevant to the digital age.

Abstract

The application of mindfulness (sati) in education is becoming increasingly relevant, particularly in addressing the psychological challenges faced by students in the modern era. One such challenge is the quarter-life crisis, a period of identity and life direction crisis common among individuals aged 18 to 30. This crisis is characterized by psychological distress, anxiety about the future, uncertainty in careers and social relationships, and a decline in emotional well-being. This research aims to analyze how mindfulness practices can be implemented as a strategic approach to help students manage stress, increase self-awareness, and strengthen overall mental health. The method used in this research is a qualitative study through a literature review of scientific journals, research reports, and analysis of various mindfulness programs implemented in higher education settings, both domestically and internationally. The results indicate that consistent application of mindfulness can help students recognize emotions, reduce anxiety levels, improve learning focus, and build emotional resilience in the face of academic and social pressures. Furthermore, the integration of mindfulness practices into the curriculum and daily campus activities is considered to create a more supportive and reflective learning environment. The implications of this study emphasize the importance of higher education institutions providing space and support for the development of mindfulness programs as part of character education and mental health. Further research is recommended to assess the long-term effectiveness of mindfulness interventions, as well as adapt training models to suit the cultural context and needs of Indonesian students.

The results of the study indicate that human reflection is very important to improve teacher professionalism, especially in the field of pedagogical competence in this case including evaluating their teaching practices directly and objectively every day. by reflecting, teachers can identify successes and shortcomings in the learning process, understand the responses and needs of students, and find solutions to problems that arise in the classroom. in this process encourages teachers to continue learning, adapting, and improving themselves which are the main characteristics of professionalism. Daily reflection helps PPL students in the following matters: (1) identifying learning difficulties and weaknesses; (2) assessing learning outcomes and implementation; (3) utilizing real things in teaching; and (4) aligning learning methods and media with the needs of students. One of the most popular reflection techniques is the reflection triangle, which helps PPL students analyze the effectiveness of their learning. And Daily Reflection serves as a foundation for teacher professional development because it encourages self-evaluation, improvement, and adaptation to changes in the classroom environment.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the importance of moral education in shaping the character of the younger generation, especially in Buddhist teachings that emphasize self-control over lobha (greed). The story of Vaṭṭaka Jātaka, which tells the story of a quail and a crow, is an effective means of teaching these values. However, the conventional learning methods used at the Ariya Magga Buddhist Sunday School (SMB) are considered less interesting and interactive, thus inhibiting students' in-depth understanding. Therefore, this study formulates the question: how to design backward design-based learning with paper puppet media to improve understanding of lobha, and what are the challenges and strategies for its implementation. This study uses a classroom research method based on backward design. The stages include identifying expected outcomes, determining assessment evidence, and designing learning experiences using paper puppets as the main media. The results of the study indicate that the use of paper puppets successfully increased student involvement actively, helped visualize the Vaṭṭaka Jātaka story, and facilitated understanding of the moral values of lobha. The challenges that emerged included limited time and media availability, but they could be overcome through teacher-student collaboration and teacher creativity in utilizing traditional media. Thus, this study proves that the integration of creative media based on local culture with a backward design approach is an effective strategy in improving students' understanding of Buddhist moral values.
