Abstract

The author looks at the habits of Buddhists at the Jakarta Dhammacakka Jaya Vihara and Metta Arama Buddhist Viharas who wear necklaces in the form of pendants, bracelets so that the authors can formulate research problems in this thesis, namely: 1). What is the meaning behind the behavior of Buddhists in collecting amulets? In writing this thesis, the researcher uses the research method used is a qualitative method. The results of this study are (1) that amulets are objects with various shapes, which can be in the form of pendants, bracelets, rings, which have different functions, purposes and benefits, adapted to certain conditions. (2) amulet is a cultural tradition that has different forms and is only a symbol not as a talisman. According to Buddhism, this amulet is not allowed because the Buddha said to avoid things that are believed to be auspicious, amulets (amulets for today) as a means of seeking life's necessities. The Buddha gave priority to developing the mind in order to become more virtuous and wise and to practice the Noble Eightfold Path in order to be free from Dukkha.

Thesis of the Postgraduate Buddhist Education Masters Study Program at Nalanda Buddhist College Jakarta Advisor I Dr.Muljadi, S.Kom., MM., M.BA, Advisor II Dr.Sutrisno., S.IP., M.Si This study was to examine the effect of self-commitment on techer performance, to examine the effect of self- motivation on teacher performance, and to examine the effect of self-commitment and self-motovation on teacher performance at elementary school level Buddhist teschers throughout Greater Jakarta. The total population in this study were 130 respondents. The sample used is a saturated sample. This type of research uses quantitative analysis. Furthermore, to test the hypothesis used computer tools SPSS Release 18.00 program at a 95% confidence level (α=0.05). The results showed that the 95% confidence level was a positive effect of self-commitment on the performance of the Buddgist teachers at the elementary school level (ry1=0.993;t=96.653;0.05=1.978;0.01=2.553), there was a positive effect. Self-motivation on the performance of Buddhist teacher at the elementary school level (ry2=0.990;tcount=81.272;α 0.05=1978;α 0.01=2.355), and there is a positive effect of self-commitment and self- motivation together on teacher performance elementary school Buddhist teacher (ry1.2=0.994;tcount=11.141;α 0.05=1.656;0.01=2.355). Thus, the higher the self-commitment and self-motivation of a teacher, the higher the tacher’s performance.

Abstract

Teachers are one of the important elements in developing the character of students, achieving school goals and improving the quality in the field of education. Teachers are professional educators whose primary task is to educate, teach, guide, direct, train, assess, and evaluate learners on early childhood education pathways of formal education, primary education, and secondary education. One of the semi-formal schools that is closely related to Buddhist religion is the Buddhist Sunday School (SMB). Buddhist Sunday School (SMB) is an educational forum that provides educational activities for students from early childhood to high school. The quality of the Buddhist Sunday School Teacher's Performance will largely determine the quality of the Buddhist Sunday School's educational outcomes. Thismeans that if the Performance of Buddhist Sunday School Teachers is low, it will have an impact on the quality of learning which will have implications for the quality of educational output. Previous surveys showed that the performance of SMB teachers in terms of quantity, quality, time utilization, effectiveness, and efficiency still needs to be improved because it is far from the quality as expected. This st udy aims to find out how motivation and work discipline individually and together can affect the quality of SMB teacher performance. This research was conducted by conducting a survey method and using a qualitative approach. The sample in this study was SMB teachers from 15 Buddhist Sunday Schools in Banten Province totaling 85 respondents. Sample selection is carried out using the purposive sampling type method while the collection is carried out through a questionnaire. The results showed that there was a positive and significant influence between the value of the work motivation variable and the performance of SMB teachers with a coefficient of ry1 = 0.889, a coefficient of determination (ry1) 2 = 0.654 (65.4%) with a regression equation of Y = 56.456 + 0.505X1, There is a positive and significant relationship between the Value of the Work Discipline variable and the value of the SMB teacher performance variable with a coefficient of ry2 = 0.678, a coefficient of determination (ry2) 2 = 0.346 (34.6%) with a regression equation Y = 72.287 + 0.416X 2 , There is a positive and significant relationship between the value of the variable of motivation for achievement and Work Discipline together with the value of the variable performance of SMB teachers with a coefficient of ry12 = 0.847, coefficient of determination (ry12) 2 = 0.718 (71.8%) with regression equation Y = 43.487 + 0.426 X1 + 0.200 X2. This shows that teacher performance can be improved through increasing motivation to excel and Work Discipline which can be done separately or together.

Abstract

Performance at Guang Ming Elementary School appears to be not optimal. Low quality of graduates is still homework to support the success of future education front. This aspect is still an obstacle faced by Guang Ming Elementary School. The objectives of this research are to (1) Analyze The influence between interpersonal communication and the performance of Guang Elementary School teachers Ming throughout Indonesia (2) Analyze the influence between job satisfaction and performance of Guang Ming Elementary School teachers throughout Indonesia (3) Analyze the influence between interpersonal communication and job satisfaction simultaneously towards the performance of Guang Ming Elementary School teachers throughout Indonesia. This research uses Quantitative research method using Cluster Random sampling technique. Based on this technique, the population in this study was Guang Elementary School teachers Ming throughout Indonesia, totaling 102 people. Based on Slovin’s formula, The total sample taken in this research was 81 teachers. Object This research is about the performance of Guang Ming Elementary School teachers throughout Indonesia

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of organizational climate and transformational leadership on the performance of Buddhist Sunday School teachers in Denpasar City. This research uses multiple regression analysis. In this study using a sample using probability sampling technique, with a total sample of 85 respondents. This research uses primary data, data is collected by distributing questionnaires to respondents via google form which is tested with SPSS 20.0 for Windows. The results showed that organizational climate had a positive effect on the performance of Buddhist Sunday School teachers in Denpasar City with a correlation coefficient score (ry1 = 0.517) and a determination coefficient of the resulting score of r2y1 = 0.267. Transformational leadership has a positive effect on the performance of Buddhist Sunday School teachers in Denpasar City with the resulting correlation coefficient of ry2 = 0.833 and a coefficient of determination score (r2y2 = 0.694). Organizational climate and transformational leadership have a positive and significant effect on the performance of Buddhist Sunday School teachers in Denpasar City with the resulting correlation coefficient of ry1,2 = 0,856 and the coefficient of determination of the score (r2y1,2 = 0,733). Regression equation: 12 = 39.400 + 0.144X1 + 0.526X2. So for optimizing performance, it is necessary to have policies and regulations to improve organizational climate and transformational leadership.

Abstract

Swearing can be seen in the objects chosen for insults, which are often animals. In Indonesia, the term “Anjing” or Dog is frequently used in swearing by both students and the general public. This choice is believed to be influenced by the beliefs of the majority Muslim population, who consider dogs to be impure and forbidden. The goal of this study is to explore the religious aspects of using 'Anjing' as an insult from the perspective of religious leaders in Indonesia. The research aims to show that using “Anjing” as an insult is not only based on Islamic beliefs but is also connected to other religions. This study uses a qualitative approach with document analysis and interviews with five religious’ leaders from different faiths. The findings suggest that in Islam, dogs are not inherently unclean, but their saliva is considered impure. In Christianity, both Catholic and Protestant, 'Dog' has been used historically as an insult by Jews against other religions. In Hinduism, dogs are used in rituals to remove negative energy, and in Buddhism, dogs represent karmic punishment for failed reincarnation. In Confucianism, dogs can be both helpful and harmful, so they are allowed to be eaten. All religions agree that swearing is harmful and has negative effects, both immediately and in the future.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the low interest in learning among students. The application of learning media in the form of videos is one alternative to overcome this problem. This study aims to produce learning media in the form of videos made using the Canva application and analyze its influence on the interests and learning outcomes of students in the subject of Buddhist Religious Education and Character Education for grade V elementary schools with the material Emulating Bodhisattva and Buddha, lesson 17. This development uses the ADDIE development model (Analysis, Design, Development, implementation and evaluation). The research instruments used were interview sheets and questionnaires. The feasibility of the learning video was validated by media experts and material experts and tested on grade V students of SDS Keluarga Universal Tanjungpandan. The results of the media expert validation obtained results of 60 (good) and 70 (very good) and the results of the material expert validation obtained results of 85 (Very good). In addition, the teacher assessment score obtained was 65 which has a good validation level. The results of the responses of grade V students of SDS Keluarga Universal obtained a percentage of 84.4% (very good). The results of the t-test showed that there was a significant difference between the group using the learning video and the control group. Based on the results of the study, it was concluded that the learning video had an effect on increasing the interest and learning outcomes of class V students of SDS Keluarga Universal Tanjungpandan.

Abstract

Educational institutions are basic, planned efforts to create a learning atmosphere and learning process so that students actively develop their potential to have religious spiritual strength, self-control, personality, intelligence, morals, life sciences, general knowledge and the skills they need for society based on law. -Laws are complex institutions. Teachers are professional educators who educate, teach knowledge, guide, train, assess and evaluate students. Therefore, to produce quality students, teachers must have good performance. Factors that can have an impact on teacher performance include: how to practice organizational culture, teacher discipline when carrying out teaching, and the results achieved by teachers in carrying out teaching. Based on the survey, it is known that the performance of private Buddhist high school (SMA) teachers in Banten province is still not optimal, so there is a need for improvement.

Abstract

The Correlation between Parenting Patterns and Learning Motivation to Student Learning Outcomes in Mathematics Subjects at SMA Kusuma Bangsa Palembang. Buddhist Religious Education Thesis, Nalanda Institute, Dr. Mujiyanto, S.Pd., M.Pd. as first advisor and Dr. Alexander Chandra, M.M., M.Kn., MBA as second advisor. This research was aimed to determine the correlation between parenting patterns and learning motivation to student learning outcomes in mathematics subjects at SMA Kusuma Bangsa Palembang. The hypothesis proposed in this study is that there is a correlation between parenting patterns and learning motivation to student learning outcomes in mathematics subjects at SMA Kusuma Bangsa Palembang. The sample in this research amounted to 135 students of class X. The measuring instrument in data collection used a scale of parenting patterns, a scale of learning motivation, and a scale of student learning outcomes in mathematics, with a correlational method as a research method. The results showed that the correlation coefficient of 0.726 indicated a positive relationship and high interpretation. The Fcount value = 7.071, Ftable (0.05; 135) = 3.060 with the criteria Fcount > Ftable, so that the null hypothesis (Ho) which states that there is no correlation between parenting patterns and learning motivation on student learning outcomes in mathematics subjects at SMA Kusuma Bangsa Palembang is rejected. Thus, there is a significant positive correlation between parenting patterns and learning motivation on student learning outcomes in mathematics at SMA Kusuma Bangsa Palembang with multiple regression analysis y = 73.178 + 0.164X1 + 0.183X2 which is real. The magnitude of the effective contribution of parenting patterns and learning motivation to student learning outcomes in mathematics at SMA Kusuma Bangsa Palembang is 52.7%, while the remaining 47.3% is caused by other factors.
