Abstract

The purpose of the research is to determine giving Artemia nauplius and microworms affects the growth and color of guppy (Poecilia reticulata) fish fry. Three treatments were used in triplicates using a completely randomized design in this research. P1 (100% Artemia nauplius); P2 (50% Artemia nauplius and 50% microworm); and P3 (100% microworm) were the three treatments. Analysis of variance was applied to analyze the findings at a 95% confidence level. Further analysis is done using Duncan's Multiple Range Test if the results suggest a significant difference. The results showed that giving Artemia nauplius and microworms did not affect the survival rate of guppy fry. The provision of 100% microworms resulted in absolute growth based on weight and length of 0.12 ± 0.01 g and 1.26 ± 0.07 cm, respectively, specific growth rates based on weight and length of 6.24 ± 0.14%/day and 2.02 ± 0.08%/day, respectively. and the highest increase in color quality, which was 3.33 ± 0.12, so it can be concluded that the provision of 100% microworms resulted in increased growth and color quality in guppy fish fry .

Abstract

Goldfish (Carassius auratus) is an ornamental fish that is widely loved and has good prospects for development. This study aims to improve the growth of goldfish (Carassius auratus) fed with feed enriched with turmeric flour. The test fish used were goldfish seeds (Length 3-4 cm and weight 2-3 g). This study was an experimental study with a completely randomized design (CRD) consisting of 4 treatments and three replications consisting of commercial feed (P0), feed enriched with turmeric flour with a dose of 1% (P1); 2% (P2) and 3% (P3). The results showed that adding turmeric flour to the feed statistically significantly affected the seeds' absolute weight and Specific Growth Rate (SGR). Still, they were not significantly different in the seeds' absolute length value, Fed Conversion Ratio (FCR), and Survival Rate (SR). Treatment with a dose of 3% showed the best value in absolute weight of 4.66 ± 0.23 g, absolute length of 2.93 ± 0.12 cm, SGR of 2.68 ± 0.15%, FCR of 1.41 ± 0.03, and feed protein content (50.04%). Turmeric flour has the potential to be used as a supplement in feed because it can increase feed protein content and seed growth and reduce FCR values better than without the addition of turmeric flour.

Abstract

Green mussels are one of the food ingredients that are popular with the public because of their good nutritional content for the body and affordable prices. Green mussels are also a cultivation commodity that is easy to develop for coastal communities, especially coastal communities in the Randusanga Kulon Waters, Brebes. One of its characteristics, which is living sedentarily and being a filter feeder, makes green mussels easily infected with parasites and polluting organisms. Therefore, this study aims to determine the prevalence of parasites in green mussels (Perna viridis) in the Randusanga Kulon, Brebes. Parasite analysis in green mussels was carried out in July 2023 using the random sampling method. This study used green mussel samples with an average length of 12.03 ± 1.02 cm. Observations of endoparasites were carried out on the legs, gills, and contents of the digestive tract, while observations of ectoparasites were carried out on the shells of green mussels. Observations were carried out on 7 (seven) samples of green mussels with 3 (three) repetitions in each part observed. Based on observations, parasites were found with a prevalence category of often to always with prevalence values ranging from 14.3% -100%. The types of parasites found were Perkinsus sp., Balanus sp., Ciliata, Strongyloides stercoralis, Strongyloides papillosus.
