Abstract

The waters of Aceh Jaya are home to six distinct species of Panulirus spp lobsters, specifically Panulirus penicillatus, P. longipes, P. ornatus, P. polyphagus, P. versicolor, and P. homarus. The study was carried out in 2022 within the aquatic territory of Aceh Jaya Regency. The lobster fishermen at the research area employ gill nets as their fishing gear. The data collection approach involves doing direct field observations and performing identifications in the laboratory. The analysis of the data is then carried out using descriptive techniques. During lobster fishing operations, fishermen engage in a daily routine that involves setting and hauling the fishing gear once a day. This process lasts for 16 hours and includes lifting the catch onto land. Analysed data on the six species of lobster (Panulirus spp) taken by lobster fisherman, specifically Panulirus penicillatus, P. longipes, P. ornatus, P. polyphagus, P. versicolor, and P. homarus. All six varieties of lobster have different morphological characteristic based on the color and shape of the maxilliped.

Abstract

The catch of bileh fish (Rasbora sp.) has been caught from nature. Continuous fishing will lead to extinction in its habitat. Efforts made to anticipate this are carried out in the cultivation process. In fish farming, feed has a role as a source of nutrition for the growth process and survival of fish to be cultivated. Feed needs to support growth must have the right or appropriate nutritional content. The purpose of this study was to see the effect of adding tarum leaf meal (Indigofera zollingeriana) added to the feed by looking at the growth rate and survival of bileh fish (Rasbora sp.). This study used a complete randomized design (CRD), which consisted of four treatments then each treatment was repeated three times. The treatment.ie P0: control, P1: 10%, P2: 20%, and P3: 30% additional needle leaf flour. The test parameters observed were weight gain, length gain, feed conversion ratio, specific growth rate and survival. The results ANOVA test showed that the feed added with tarum leaf flour had a significant effect (P<0,05) on length increase and specific growth rate, and there was no significant effect (P>0,05) on weight gain, feed conversion ratio, and survival.

Abstract

Plastic is a product that is currently popular among people, but over time plastic can be dangerous for the environment. Plastic can degrade into smaller particles known as microplastics. Microplastics in waters can harm aquatic biota such as fish. The size of microplastics is so small that it easily enters the fish's body, settles in the digestive tract and affects the fish's life cycle. Apart from biota, microplastics also pollute water and sediment. The aim of this research is to determine the abundance of microplastics and identify the characteristics of microplastics in milkfish in ponds in Muncung Village. The method used is take fish from ponds at 6 stations along with water and sediment. The fish were dissected and the digestive organs and flesh were removed, while the water and sediment were treated with NaCl. The microplastics found will be tested by FTIR to determine the polymer. The results of the observations showed that there were 3 types of microplastics, namely fragments, fibers and films. The highest abundance in organs was in the intestine, while microplastics were also found in water and sediment. FTIR test results show 6 plastic polymers in milkfish, namely ABS, latex, PVC, PP, EVA and nitrile. Keywords: Microplastics, milkfish, FTIR, Muncung Village

Abstract

Pesisir Barat is one of the locations that has a great opportunity for capture fisheries activities in Lampung. Bubu is a passive fishing gear, made of thick steel frames, woven nets with small openings. Bubu is usually used to catch fish or other small crustaceans, by luring them to swim and trapping them inside. In this study, we used a light attractor as bait. Thus, increasing the effect of the trap. It exploits the phototactic behavior exhibited by many fish species, which are attracted by light itself, or preys on light-attracted phototactic invertebrates. In this study we used two kinds of traps. First, those with light attractors, then those without light attractors. The purpose of this study was to determine the composition of the catch and comparing the result of both traps. This research was carried out from June to July 2022 with an estimated water depth of ±4-6 meters. The trap size is 120 cm x 70 cm x 80 cm. The composition of the catch on trap fishing gear consisted of several types of catch including blue-spotted grouper, red snapper, kuniran, baronang, cuttlefish, shrimp, squid and octopus. The result are quite different. The traps with LEDs having more result compared to traps without LED modifications.

Abstract

Desa Bakau Village is a coastal area in Sambas Regency, West Kalimantan, which has the potential for mangrove forests with a high level of diversity. The mangrove ecosystem is a habitat for various types of biota, such as gastropods, generally known as snails. People often consume multiple gastropods using different processing methods. The nutritional content of the gastropods consumed by the people of Desa Bakau is not yet known. Therefore, this study aims to determine the nutritional composition of a gastropod from Desa Bakau (Littoraria melanostoma), including carbohydrates, protein, fat, ash content, water content, and minerals. Sampling was carried out in August 2022 in the mangrove area of Desa Bakau using the exploration method. Determination of nutritional content is carried out by referring to AOAC (2005). Proteins were analyzed by the Kjeldahl method. Fat was analyzed using the Soxhlet method. Macrominerals (Na, K, Mg, Ca, and P) were determined using an Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometer (AAS). The nutritional content of Littoraria melanostoma is water content (1.51%), ash content (22.81%), protein (49,00 %), fat (3.60%), and carbohydrates (23.08%). The highest macromineral in Littoraria melanostoma is calcium at 71.38%. Thus, this mangrove snail can be used as a good alternative source of animal protein for human consumption at a relatively affordable price.

Abstract

This study evaluates the hematological profile of potential broodstock silver pompano (Trachinotus blochii) through hormonal induction and phyto-biotic supplementation via feed. An experimental trial was conducted for 30 days to assess the hematological profile of potential broodstock Trachinotus blochii. This study employed a completely randomized design (CRD) in two research experiments. The first experiment utilized hormonal induction with estradiol-17β hormone on female silver pompano broodstock, consisting of 3 treatments: E1 (0 mg/kg), E2 (20 mg/kg), and E3 (60 mg/kg), whereas the second experiment employed phyto-biotic induction using Tribulus terrestris extract (ETT) and gonadotropin hormone, consisting of 5 treatments: T1: ETT 0 mg/kg feed, T2: ETT 50 mg/kg feed, T3: ETT 250 mg/kg feed, T4: ETT 50 mg/kg feed + gonadotropin 1000 IU/kg body weight, and T5: ETT 250 mg/kg feed + gonadotropin 500 IU/kg body weight, both experiments used 8 individuals as replicate per treatment. The results of the study indicated that all major hematological indices such as total erythrocytes, total leukocytes, and hematocrit levels were higher in male silver pompano broodstock supplemented with Tribulus terrestris extract compared to female silver pompano broodstock induced hormonally with estradiol-17β hormone.

Abstract

The entry of microplastic waste into pond waters come from household and fishing activities. This study aims to identify the presence of microplastics in milkfish in the Pedaleman Village pond by considering the type, color, and size of microplastics and to determine the polymers structure found in the digestive tract of milkfish. A total of 24 samples were collected directly from the pond in March to April 2023. The fish were measured for length (cm) and weight (g), and then dissected to remove the organs including digestive tract and muscle. The organs were then destroyed and microplastics were identified using microscope stereo. The fish organs were destroyed using 10% KOH after wet weight was measured. The sample were incubated for 24 hours until the organic matter was destroyed. Then, filtered using Whattman 42 paper and dried in an oven. The types of microplastics found in milkfish were fibers, films, and fragments. Fragment were the most abundant type of microplastics, followed by fiber and film. The fiber had a variety of colors, while the fragments are only found in black. The types of microplastic polymers found in milkfish intestines were polyethylene (PE), polytetrafluoroethylene (PTPE), Polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA), and nylon.
