Abstract

Senggaringan fish is one of important fisheries resource which needs todevelop in Purbalingga. Unfortunately there were still lacks of domesticationtechnology to support it. One of the most potential aspects to prepare theaquaculture of senggaringan is by preparing the nutrition aspect and feedmanagement. This research has purpose to encourage the effect of protein leveland protein energy ratio in different feed to relative growth, protein retention(PR) and protein efficiency ratio (PER) of senggaringan. The method was usedCompletely Randomize Design with five different feed protein level and energyratio P1 (25;18), P2 (30;13.9), P3 (30; 14.2), P4 (30;15), P5 (35;12) with 4repetitions. The data was collectected for five weeks. The result showed that P4(30;15) had the best performance than other treatments. The best PR and PERalso showed by treatment P4 (P<0.05), 47,14% and 1,52. It means thatsenggaringan fish can accept pellet as their food to fastening the growth. Butthere still need more research to encourage the nutrition composition every phaseand feed management of senggaringan fish to succeed the domestication.

Abstract

Plastic waste pollution has become one of the central issues of society in Indonesia, considering the various negative impacts on the environment, economy, safety, and health arising from the presence of this waste. Therefore, the Government of Indonesia has established policies to improve the performance of reducing household and household-like waste through various strategies. One of these strategies is the recycling and reuse of household waste and formal and informal education. This activity was carried out to provide education on the importance of protecting the environment and managing waste for the people of Karanggintung Village. In addition, providing training on making handicrafts made from plastic is an effort to manage waste. Activities are carried out with the stages of preparation for activities, counseling, implementation of training, and ending with activity evaluation. The training is carried out using the demonstration method carried out by a team of partners, lecturers, and students with a participatory approach that involves the community being actively involved in all activities. The activity was prepared by compiling an activity plan followed by coordinating with the Banyumas Regency Environmental Service (DLH) and the Karanggintung Village Head and his staff. After that, counseling was carried out about the importance of processing plastic waste to the public about the potential for plastic waste to enter the sea so that it is harmful to marine organisms. The next stage is training on processing plastic waste into various handicraft products, which is attended by community cadres who are expected to become a driving force for other communities. The training was carried out by demonstrating the manufacture of handicraft products made from plastic. After that, the participants practiced with the team. Handling plastic waste is very important to keep the environment clean. This can be done by recycling plastic waste into handicrafts.

Abstract

Highlight ResearchThe qualitative bioactive assay on terpenoid compound of six macroalgae species were tested. The effect of six macroalgae extracts as inducer mediating settlement to juvenile Perna viridis were observed.Three macroalgae species were potentially promote the retention of juvenile P. viridisAbstractThe low retention of juvenile of green mussels (Perna viridis) in the aquaculture holding system has become a constraint for its production. The depress number of juvenile mussel on the collector rope might be caused due to both limited spawning season and their secondary settlement behaviour. Therefore, providing suitable substrate which able to improve green mussel seed retention is required. One of the solutions is by applying inducer mediating settlement as substrate enrichment in order to optimize the retention of juvenile P. viridis. The potential substrates thought to have these inductive activities is seaweed. Seaweed bioactive compound which may improve juvenile mussel retention is terpenoid. Six seaweed extracts used in the current study and the terpenoid of these six macroalgae species were tested. Qualitatively all six seaweed showed a positive result on the terpenoid compound. The retention and survival of juvenile green mussel observed by using 20 conical tanks with a complete randomized design experiment. Each of the seaweed species tested separately comparing with three other experimental treatments under 24 h observation time, A (rope), B (rope + PhytagelTM), C (rope + PhytagelTM l+ solvent), D (rope + PhytagelTM + seaweed extract), it made four experimental treatments with 5 times replications. The result indicated a variation pattern on the retention of juvenile mussels according to the experimental substrate. The juvenile mussels were preferably settled on enriched substrate of G. latifolium and S. polycystum, extracts (p<0.05). Adding seaweed extracts on the substrate did not affect the mussels survival (p>0.05).
