Abstract

The objectives of this study include: (a) presenting a description of the script of Kitab Ilmu Kaji Diri dan Ilmu Firasat, (b) presenting the transliteration result of the text of the Kitab Ilmu Kaji Diri and Ilmu Firasat, (c) displaying the translation of  Kitab Ilmu Kaji Diri dan Ilmu Firasat from old Malay into Indonesian. This research is categorized in the type of philological research. The object of this research is the text of Kitab Ilmu Kaji Diri dan Ilmu Firasat. This research method is a philological research method adapted to the research stages and descriptive methods. The data collection stage used the literature study or observation method and at the script description stage the descriptive method was used. Furthermore, for the transliteration stage the transliteration method or the transliteration method is used, then the language transfer process uses the language transfer method. The results of this study are (1) a complete description of the manuscript, (2) transcription of the text of Kitab Ilmu Kaji Diri dan Ilmu Firasat from Arabic-Malay into Latin without changing the type of language that can be read and understood by today’s society. (3) The text of Kitab Ilmu Kaji Diri dan Ilmu Firasat has been translated from old Malay to Bahasa Indonesia. Some of the vocabularies of the Malay language vocabulary contained in the script of Kitab Ilmu Kaji Diri dan Ilmu Firasat are still preserved to maintain the originality of the old vocabulary.

Abstract

Children literature have long been believed to contain values that contribute to shaping the character of the young reader. The children fiction from many countries always offer noble values that can influence the character formation. This study discusses social values in the Cinderella fairy tale (Indonesian version) and the story of Putri Arabella (the Malaysian version). This study used a comparative literature approach to obtain a comprehensive comparison between the fairy tales of Cinderella and Putri Arabela. The data were analyzed using the content analysis method to obtain a sharper and deeper meaning behind the qualitative data in the form of words, phrases, dialogues and narratives. The results of the data analysis found that the two stories both contained social values, the value of compassion, advice to help others, and a sense of responsibility. Besides having similarities, these two stories also contain differences. The differences were found in the characterization and setting of the story. This is because this story originates from two different countries which contain different social conditions.

Abstract

Kebijakan pembelajaran jarak jauh (PJJ) selama pandemi COVID-19 menimbulkan masalah baru bagi pendidikan anak usia dini. Penyelenggaraan pendidikan dan pembelajaran telah mengalami perubahan yang drastis. Pembelajaran tidak lagi menggunakan pertemuan konvensional tatap muka, tetapi mulai diintegrasikan dengan pembelajaran online. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan pembelajaran bahasa Inggris selama periode pandemi di SDIT Nurul Yaqin dengan menggunakan metode blended learning. Metode penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif kualitatif, dengan pendekatan studi kasus. Instrumen penelitian adalah siswa dan guru kelas 4A SDIT Nurul Yaqin yang melaksanakan pembelajaran jarak jauh dengan metode blended learning. Teknik analisis data mengacu pada konsep Miles Huberman melalui tahapan pengumpulan data, reduksi data, penyajian data, dan penarikan kesimpulan atau verifikasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kolaborasi yang baik antara guru, siswa, dan orang tua dapat mengatasi masalah dalam mengadaptasi metode blended learning pada saat pandemi. Penerapan metode blended learning dalam pembelajaran bahasa Inggris menuntut guru untuk kreatif dalam menyediakan platform pembelajaran bahasa Inggris berupa link YouTube, video atau powerpoint. Keaktifan siswa di Google Meet dan orang tua mendampingi siswa selama pembelajaran online sangat membantu kemajuan PJJ selama pandemi.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to discuss the effect of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model on writing skills of exposition text for middle school students. The method used is an experiment inquiry to find the effect of certain treatments on others under controlled conditions. The research procedure which is natural setting and descriptive pay more attention to data processing and analysis, tend to be inductive, and search for suitable meaning. The data collection instrument was a performance test in the form of writing skills on exposition text. The results showed that the application of the PBL model increased the scores of the students' exposition text writing results with an average score of 58%. In addition, the application of the PBL model also deepens students' understanding of the structure, language rules, diction, language style, and speeling contained in the exposition text.

Abstract

Sadana Agung dikenal sebagai salah satu komika yang selalu mengusung pesan moral dalam permainan bahasa humornya. Hal ini tentu menarik untuk diteliti dan berkemungkinan untuk dijadikan salah satu media pembelajaran teks anekdot pada tingkat Sekolah Menengah. Terkait hal tersebut, penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan teknik permainan bahasa humor Sadana Agung dalam acara Stand Up Comedy; kaitan analisis permainan bahasa humor Sadana Agung dalam acara Stand Up Comedy dengan bahan ajar teks anekdot Kelas X SMA. Subjek penelitian ini berupa acara Stand Up Comedy Season 6 Kompas TV. Objek penelitian ini yaitu permainan bahasa Sadana Agung dalam Acara Stand Up Comedy Season 6 Kompas TV. Metode pengumpulan data yang dipergunakan metode simak catat. Teknik pengumpulan data teknik sadap dengan mentranskip data yang telah disimak tersebut ke dalam bentuk teks dan dimasukan lagi ke dalam kartu data untuk didokumentasikan.  Instrumen penelitian ini adalah kedua peneliti. Realibilitas data dalam penelitian ini dilakukan dengan cara mendengarkan dan menganalisis data secara berulang-ulang. Berdasarkan hasil analisis yang telah dilakukan dalam penelitian ini dapat disimpulkan bahwa teknik permainan bahasa humor yang terdapat dalam acara Stand Up Comedy Season 6 Kompas TV meliputi teknik permainan bahasa humor yaitu repetisi, inversi, metafora artifisial, interferensi resiplokal , homonimi, dan subtitusi artifisial. Adapun dari 45 data yang diteliti, 17 repetisi, 18 metafora artifisial, 8 homonimi dan 2 subtitusi artifisial. Terdapat keterkaitan antara teknik pemainan bahasa humor pada Sadana Agung dalam acara Stand Up Comedy dengan pembelajaran Bahasa Indonesia tingkat SMA pada KD 3.5 mengevaluasi teks anekdot dari aspek makna tersirat, dan KD 4.5 mengontruksi makna tersirat dalam sebuah teks anekdot baik lisan maupun tulis.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the teacher's reinforcement in teaching English at the high school level. This is important to do because strengthening is one of the strategies that teachers can apply in increasing interest and motivation to learn to achieve satisfactory student achievement. This research uses qualitative methods with descriptive techniques. In data collection, researchers conducted interviews and observations on teachers of SMA Islam Negeri 2 Kuantan Singingi to determine the components of reinforcement used by teachers in learning English. The results of this study indicate that the English teacher uses verbal and non-verbal reinforcement in learning English. For verbal reinforcement, the teacher uses reinforcement with words and reinforcement with sentences. For non-verbal reinforcement, the teacher uses gesture reinforcement, closeness strengthening, contact strengthening, activity reinforcement, and token reinforcement. The reinforcement most often used by teachers in teaching English was reinforcement with words, while the reinforcement that was rarely used by teachers was token reinforcement.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the types of expressive speech acts and strategy used in the novel Bumi Manusia by Pramoedya Ananta Toer. This type of research is qualitative research using descriptive methods. The data contained in this study are words, phrases, clauses, and sentences that refer to expressive speech acts contained in the novel Bumi Manusia by Pramoedya Ananta Toer. The data source of this research is the novel Bumi Manusia by Pramoedya Ananta Toer. The research instrument is the researcher himself with a note taking tool to record things that indicate expessive speech acts found in the novel . Data collection techniques were carried out in several stages including reading and understanding the novel Bumi Manusia by Pramoedya Ananta Toer; (2) identifying data containing expressive speech acts in the novel Bumi Manusia by Pramoedya Ananta Toer; and (3) inventorizing data containing expressive speech acts in the novel Bumi Manusia by Pramoedya Ananta Toer. The data validation technique used in this study is a detailed description technique. The data analysis technique is done by classifying the data, analyzing the data, and concluding the results of the research. The research results found, namely (1) types of expressive speech acts in the novel Bumi Manusia by Pramoedya Ananta Toer in the from of saying thanks, saying congratulations, apologizing, praising, accusing, exressing anger, expressing pleasure, feeling embarrased, and feeling surprised; (2) the storytelling strategy used by the characters Minke, Annalies, dan Nyai Ontosoroh is in the form of a stratedy without the nonsense, a strategy of a speaking with pleasantries of positive courtesy, a strategy of speaking with small talk of negative politeness, vague speech strategies, and strategies that speak silently

Abstract

Various ways and efforts have provided by Speaking lecturers to increase students’ motivation, especially in Speaking. However, based on a preliminary study, researchers found that students' speaking motivation was still considered insufficient. For that, the researcher applied a game, namely Crazy Story. The purpose of this study was to see how students’ motivation who were taught and not taught using Crazy Story Game and to find out whether there was a significant difference between students’ motivation who were taught and not taught using Crazy Story Game. This research was an experimental research. This type of research was a quasi-experimental study using an unequal group design. This study consisted of two groups, namely experimental and control group. The population of this study were students of the third semester of the English Education Study Program. Two groups (classes) of students consisted of 60 people were taken as samples using cluster random sampling. The two groups of students were both given a questionnaire to see their motivation in speaking before and after implementing Crazy Story Game. The data collection techniques were questionnaire and observation. Questionnaire was used to determine students’ motivation in speaking English. Meanwhile, observation was used to see the learning process of Speaking by using Crazy Story Game. From the research findings, it was obtained that the Speaking Motivation data of students who joined the experimental class increased by 4.75%. Meanwhile, students’ speaking motivation who joined the control class only increased by 0.98%. The result of data analysis from T-test was 2.028. This result was compared with the t table with a df (Degree of Freedom) level of 78, namely 1.99. Because t count t table (2.028 ≥ 1.99) and the significance was (0.046 0.05), H0 was rejected and Ha was accepted. The researcher concluded that there was a significant difference between students’ motivation those who were taught and not taught using Crazy Story Game.

Abstract

Utopia is an appropriate word to describe about the ideal, worthy, and perfect life depicted in a city called Metro City in the Astro Boy animation. This study examines the animation movie Astro Boy and how the world that is being told in the works could be defined as Utopian world like it is being described through the movie. The purpose of this study is to proof whether the setting successfully conveyed the Utopian world or whether it still has some deficiency as Utopian is known as impossibly perfect world to be created. The corpus of this study is the movie of Astro Boy focuses on the setting and relationship between human kind and robots. This research uses a qualitative descriptive method which describes social phenomena by conducting in-depth understanding and analysis. The aims of this research is to analyze more deeply the picture contained in the animation, which shows how humans and robots are able to create a new world also coexist. Moreover, the conceptual framework that will be use is the theory of Capitalism and Classism in order to examine the setting of Utopian world.

Abstract

This reasearch describes about management and the usage system of harta pusaka in novels wrote by Wisran Hadi. The novel that became the object of this research titled Orang-orang Belanti dan Negeri Perempuan. In this research it is found that basicaly in minangkabau culture they have some rules use as they have in their society. But in fact, thereis also misunderstanding in managing tanah pusaka by man and the government because of thereason of people need. Butital sotells that there is a case that follow the rule in society. For example, in Bundo’s character, as one of the person who receive harta pusaka and can use it without have to overtaking other’s rights. Then, she also canuseit for all. Meanwhile, man that has power tomanage Harta pusaka does not have right to own it.
