Abstract

Abstrak. Keterampilan menulis adalah keterampilan yang membutuhkan latihan secara terus menerus. Keterampilan menulis akan meningkat apabila kegiatan menulis dilakukan secara terus menerus. Dalam keterampilan menulis proses menjadi hal penting untuk melihat peningkatan yang sudah terjadi. Salah satu keterampilan menulis yang disorot dalam penelitian ini adalah keterampilan menulis teks prosedur siswa smp. Keterampilan menulis teks prosedur mereka masih tidak sesuai dengan yang diharapkan dan belum memenuhi syarat dikatakan teks prosedur. Dalam penulisan teks prosedur ini, penggunaan model project based learning. Model Project Based Learning (PjBL) atau model berbasis proyek dalam pembelajaran termasuk model yang menggunakan suatu proyek atau kegiatan sebagai media. Model pembelajaran berbasis proyek ini merupakan model pembelajaran yang berfokus pada siswa dalam meningkatkan keterampilan menganalisis secara sistematis, terstruktur, dan juga teliti dalam rangka mencapai tujuan pembelajaran yang meghasilkan suatu proyek atau karya. Model PjBL ini sejalan dengan aspek yang dibutuhkan dalam kegiatan menulis yaitu proses dan menghasilkan proyek. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian eksperimen. Data penelitian ini adalah nilai dari tulisan siswa dan kemudian dianalisis menggunakan analisis statistika. Dari hasil penelitian terbukti bahwa kelas yang menggunakan model Project Based Learning dapat meningkatkan keterampilan menulis teks prosedur siswa dibandingkan dengan kelas yang tidak menggunakan model tersebut.

Abstract

Pembunuhan Brigadir J oleh Jenderal FS telah diberitakan berbagai media, termasuk televisi. Catatan Demokrasi adalah salah satu acara TV yang fokus pada pembahasan pembunuhan Brigadir J beberapa minggu terakhir ini. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis wacana yang terdapat dalam program TV dengan perspektif wacana Van Dijk. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian deskriptif dengan menggunakan metode kualitatif. Ini menggunakan pendekatan teoretis analisis wacana kritis yang diusulkan oleh Van Dijk, yang meliputi teks atau struktur sosial, kognisi sosial, dan konteks. Teknik analisis data yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah teknik wacana kritis model Van Dijk. Hasil analisis mengungkapkan bahwa struktur sosial wacana yang dianalisis meliputi struktur makro, struktur atas, dan struktur mikro. Analisis kognisi sosial menunjukkan bahwa pembunuhan Brigadir J telah merusak citra Polri di mata masyarakat. Hal ini terlihat dari wacana yang ditulis oleh penulis berita di TV ONE Catatan Demokrasi tentang perjalanan rekonstruksi peristiwa penembakan yang menewaskan Brigadir J.

Abstract

Frederick Clark Prescott (1922) in his book entitled The Poetic Mind states that the values contained in poetry have good therapeutic elements for troubled souls. Poetry as a literary work is believed to have elements of healing for troubled souls. One of the healing methods is by using the medium of poetry, which is known as Psychopoetry or poetry therapy. This study aims to reveal the concept of love without end or the popular concept of we fall in love with people we can't have which is contained in the text of the Syair Surat Kirim Kepada Perempuan, which is analyzed using poetry therapy studies. There are two methods used in this study, namely the philological method and the qualitative descriptive method. The philological method needs to be carried out considering that the object of this research is classical Malay literary texts. After interpreting the object, data collection uses a qualitative descriptive method. After the data has been collected, an analysis of the data is carried out using descriptive analytic methods. The result of this study is that the elements of writing poetry as a therapy for healing a wounded soul are found in the SSKKP text. Apart from that, the SSKKP text also fulfills the crucial elements of using poetry therapy to heal wounded souls.

Abstract

Women's voices about their experiences of being a wife and mother are still often underestimated. This is due to the idea that it is indeed a woman's nature to make sacrifices and to prioritize her family's happiness above her own. This isue is also expressed in two short stories “Apa Yang Paul McCartney Bisikkan Kepada Janitra?” and “Pembersih Jejak Kematian” by Sasti Gotama. The purpose of this study is to reveal the voices of women in the short stories and draw meaning from them. This research is a qualitative using descriptive analysis method. The data was collected from the text of “Apa Yang Paul McCartney Bisikkan Kepada Janitra?” and “Pembersih Jejak Kematian”. The data was analyzed by using the theory of feminism. Furthermore, the meaning was revealed through text interpretation. The results showed that Apa “Apa Yang Paul McCartney Bisikkan Kepada Janitra?” and “Pembersih Jejak Kematian”  expressed women's voices in the form of experiences as a mother and wife in the household which are shown through the main female characters, Janitra and Hantu Hujan. The analysis showed that these short stories speak for women's voices so that they can get proper appreciation and understanding for all their efforts and sacrifices as a wife and mother for their family

Abstract

Group work is an essential part of the learning process, especially for students at school. Group work is one part of the learning method that helps teachers involve students and provides opportunities for students to learn cooperatively. This study aims to determine students' perceptions of the implementation of group work in English class. This study used an instrument in the form of a survey involving 125 participants consisting of five classes from class xi of SMAN 2 Malang. The author uses five variables as a reference to what problems often occur when grouping and the leak of students’ motivation when studying. The author uses a descriptive technique by describing what problems usually happen to analyze the data obtained. The findings from this study indicate that students working in groups can improve their responsibility and share their ideas, time, and task, resulting in an increased chance of completing tasks quickly and achieving better scores.

Abstract

Traditional singing as a cultural asset serves to store classical community knowledge and their views on the way of life. Traditional singing can be categorized according to its function and purpose. The Onduo Anak Rokan song is one of the traditional songs aimed at the younger generation from a set of experiences of the older group. This study aims to describe the form of rhyme in the songs of Onduo Anak Rokan in Rokan Hulu Regency, Riau Province. The research method used is descriptive qualitative. The data were obtained through interviews, observation, recording, and writing down the lyrics of the singer's song Onduo anak Rokan. The data analysis method is structural analysis which refers to Pradopo's perspective (2010) regarding rhyme forms. The results showed that there were six types of rhyme forms in Onduo anak Rokan's songs, namely initial rhyme, final rhyme, full/perfect rhyme, half/imperfect rhyme, alliteration rhyme, and asonance rhyme. The rich rhymes in Onduo Anak Rokan songs show that traditional literature has a consistent and structured aesthetic.

Abstract

Anxiety is one of the main inhibiting factors in using a foreign language, especially English. However, there is a relatively minimal amount of literature discussing the sources of this anxiety and techniques to reduce it. Although several previous studies have attempted to offer various solutions to overcome language anxiety issues in English, those solutions have proven to be less effective and unnatural. Therefore, more effective and natural solutions are needed to address this anxiety problem. This article aims to offer a solution to this problem through the utilization of cooperative learning techniques aided by WhatsApp. Examples of using cooperative learning techniques aided by WhatsApp will be discussed in this paper.

Abstract

As a language used in the realms of science, technology, and art; vocabulary and terms in Indonesian continue to develop along with developments and the needs of the speaking community. So far, vocabulary and terms in Indonesian have not been utilized optimally, giving rise to the impression that the development of Indonesian has stalled. In fact, empowering vocabulary and terms are needed in the free market era. This research aims to describe the development of the Indonesian language through empowering vocabulary and terms, both from regional and foreign languages. The research method uses descriptive qualitative through library research, namely by utilizing books, papers, and other documents related to the focus of writing as data sources. The research data is in the form of vocabulary and terms derived from local languages and foreign languages. The results of the study show that the revitalization of Indonesian language development can be carried out through empowering vocabulary and terms consisting of (1) expansion of vocabulary, (2) utilization of regional languages; (3) utilization of foreign languages, and (4) development of guidelines and policies.  It is hoped that the results of this research will be able to help develop the Indonesian language through empowering vocabulary and terms in regional and foreign languages.

Abstract

Ideology is considered very important in various disciplines including translation studies. Ideology and its influence on translation have long been the focus of research in the field of translation studies. The purpose of writing this article is to know and understand the ideology used by translators in translating Michael Crichton's novel The Next. The research methodology is descriptive qualitative by reading, understanding and comparing the novel The Next in English with the novel The Next translated in Indonesian. Data was obtained by identifying each word, phrase, clause, and sentence in Next's novel. Data analysis by classifying the data obtained based on Newmark's theory (1988). He classifies the word culture into five categories in his book Translated Textbook, namely: (a) ecology, (b) cultural material, (c) socio-cultural, (d) the name of the organization, (e) gestures and customs. This study found 157 cultural categories consisting of 55 Material Culture, 18 Socio-Cultural, 48 Social Organization, 23 Ecology, 6 Habits and 17 Other Cultures.
