Abstract

The advancement of AI technology, especially in language processing systems like ChatGPT, creates opportunities for students to elevate their writing skills. This study aimed to explore the relationship between the usability of ChatGPT and the English essay writing proficiency of the BEED students. The study utilized a descriptive correlational design to investigate the relationship. A sample of 58 participants was selected to write an essay with the assistance of ChatGPT. Researchers developed and employed a rubric to assess the quality and ethical use of ChatGPT. Then, the participants answered the USE questionnaire to measure their perceived usability of ChatGPT. The result revealed that BEED students perceived ChatGPT as beneficial in enhancing their essays and found the system easy to use, and learn, and provided satisfying results. The participants also expressed a strong sense of contentment regarding using ChatGPT. The essay writing proficiency assessment revealed that BEED students were proficient writers. However, a Pearson correlation coefficient of 0.042 showed a statistically significant but very weak relationship observed between ChatGPT usability and English essay writing proficiency levels. It can be concluded that ChatGPT may improve students' essay writing proficiency to a minimal extent. Moreover, this study recommended further research to explore ChatGPT's use in other academic outputs, refine the rubrics to include vocabulary, grammar, and sentence structure criteria, and provide training for effective AI tool management among students. Also, policymakers should establish clear policies and guidelines to ensure the responsible and ethical use of ChatGPT, maintaining academic integrity and enhancing writing proficiency.

Abstract

The most effective approach for educators is to provide students with the knowledge and enhance their motivation to study, employ diverse pedagogical approaches shifted away from one-way teaching approaches, and prioritized students’ needs by encompassing innovation tools such as the utilization of board games. This research aims to develop a prototype of an interactive board game as a supplementary tool for learning accounting. The game focuses on preparing financial reports and is designed to provide a practical learning experience in the field of business. This research utilized the waterfall model in research and development (R&D). Prototyping consists of communication, planning, design, construction, and distribution stages. During the communication stage, user requirements are elucidated through interviews with prospective users, observations of business practices, and examinations of relevant literature. Preliminary interview findings from culinary entrepreneurs indicate the challenges in preparing financial statements, which hinder their ability to communicate business performance and secure finances. The user's needs have been determined, and specific activities, timelines, resources, and budgets are set. The research employed an iterative prototyping approach in the prototype design process, wherein a sequence of tests is conducted consecutively to refine the prototype. In the production phase, the prototype is tested and assessed based on comments obtained during playtest sessions, with results satisfying testimonials. The advice received from students about the time limitation of the games was because of the complexity of accounting transactions, and then the games were modified by providing the spreadsheet version of the journal form that can be accessed from the barcode. This instructional tool was developed to enhance the efficacy of learning techniques, particularly in comprehending and mastering the accounting process, whether pursued individually or in a collaborative setting; hence, for the next research, we can transform this game into digital games to make it more interesting.

Abstract

This study aims to analyse the units in the Cambodian mathematics curriculum on geometry from the perspective of coherence. Four of the recently revised mathematics syllabi of primary and secondary education in Cambodia published in 2018, the latest version available during the research period of 2022-2023, have been collected. The document analysis following the procedure of General Topic Trace Mapping (GTTM) was used because it embraces curriculum coherence. The results of the analysis revealed that the Cambodian mathematics curriculum on geometry lacks coherence in terms of the four points: (1) the relations of the subdomains and contents are not well-organised and unnecessarily repetitive; (2) the contents and sub-contents are poorly ordered and are not age-appropriate, due to some contents are addressed as a prerequisite and other contents have a higher level than the student’s grade level; (3) the relations of some contents, sub-contents, and their learning outcomes are not clearly specified, as through a lack of logical or conceptual connections within and across years; and (4) the domains, sub-domains, contents, sub-contents, and learning outcomes are not clearly related nor sequenced. These four points indicate the importance and necessity of improving the coherence of geometry units in Cambodia’s mathematics curriculum. This analysis focused on the content relation aspect among three internal coherence aspects. Further research should be done on the two other aspects of internal coherence, structural and pedagogical, as well as external curriculum coherence. Analysis of all these aspects will contribute to the holistic improvement of the curriculum.

Abstract

The paradigm shifts and changes in consumer behavior have evolved alongside technological advancements and the progress of time. Since the COVID-19 pandemic, the use of online media has become widespread, including buying and selling activities. The increasing interest in online shopping has led many shopping centers to go bankrupt, which also impacts local tax revenues. This study aims to analyze the influence of flow experience, parasocial interaction, and immersion on impulsive buying tendencies in e-commerce live streaming. Data were collected from 400 respondents who are active users of live streaming platforms such as Shopee, TikTok, and Instagram in Medan. The study was conducted in 2024. The research employed the Stimulus-Organism-Response (S-O-R) method and was analyzed using SEM (Structural Equation Modeling). The study consisted of two phases: the Pilot Test and the Main Test. Data were collected through the distribution of questionnaires. The results show that in the goodness of fit test, two indices met the criteria: CMIN/DF (3.576), CFI (0.915), and SRMR (0.07). However, one index, RMSEA (0.085), did not meet the criteria. The SEM analysis results indicate that the standardized coefficient β > 0 and the p-value ≤ 0.05, showing that the hypothesis is accepted. Thus, there is a relationship between flow experience (p < 0.05), parasocial interaction (p < 0.01), and immersion (p < 0.001) on impulsive buying tendencies. This study also shows that the stronger the consumers' flow experience and parasocial involvement, the more likely they are to make impulsive purchases during live streaming
