Abstract

This study aims to determine the moderating effect of the Big Five personality domain of extraversion on the relationship between pedagogical competence and teacher performance. The research seeks to examine the contribution of the extraversion variable in the relationship between the independent and dependent variables. The subjects of this study are kindergarten teachers with two years of work experience in Semarang. This research is quantitative in nature, employing a correlational research design. Data collection was conducted through a Google Form questionnaire. The data analysis technique utilized descriptive analysis and fulfilled classical assumption tests, including Normality Test and Hypothesis Test. The results yielded a significance value of 0.000 and a beta value of 0.754 from the correlation test between pedagogical competence and teacher performance, indicating a strong relationship between these variables. After incorporating the moderator variable of extraversion into the correlation, the interaction coefficient obtained was (-0.039), leading to the conclusion that extraversion weakens the relationship between pedagogical competence and teacher performance. Based on these findings, it can be concluded that higher levels of extraversion among teachers may weaken their pedagogical competence, consequently affecting their performance.

Abstract

The recent series of earthquakes can trigger tsunamis. Coastal areas are highly dynamic and therefore potentially subject to tsunami threats.  Makassar City is a coastal area. Therefore, Makassar City is vulnerable to hit by tsunami, as the increasing stress at the ends of the active plates around Sulawesi Island, which increases the potential for seabed earthquakes, which in turn can cause tsunamis. The absence of a tsunami disaster mitigation concept in the southern coastal area of Makassar city increases the chances of huge losses in the event of a tsunami. The purpose of this research is to map the tsunami disaster mitigation in the southern coastal area of Makassar City. The research method is observational spatial data input and direct observation in the field. All coordinate data and the latest earthquake became the main input in the SiTProS program, while spatial data used ArcGIS Map. The research study area is from The Rinra Hotel (Phinisi Point Mall) to Barombong Stadium. The path along this route will be the location of the proposed Temporary Evacuation Site (TES) route, with the scenario that there are 15 building units that are higher than the maximum wave height at the coastline of 4.29 meters that can be recommended for vertical evacuation. The simulated tsunami propagation time to reach a tsunami detection device (buoy) was 30.586 minutes after a potential tsunami occurred in the Sulawesi Sea at an earthquake of 5.8 SR, and the time to reach the coastline was at 41.44 minutes. The best shortest path for evacuation during a tsunami is away from the Barombong bridge and the Jeneberang River estuary. This study concluded three evacuation routes, namely: (I) the route after Barombong bridge towards the south up to Barombong Stadium; (II) the route after Barombong bridge towards the north up to the bridge after GTC Mall; (III) the route from CPI towards the south up to the bridge before GTC Mall (Danau Tanjung Bunga road). In these evacuation routes, the ones that can be used as alternative routes are route I and route III because they go beyond the coastal boundary. Meanwhile, route II is not recommended as it exceeds the coastal boundary.

Abstract

Customer satisfaction is crucial to the success of a business. Service recovery is a response to errors committed by the firm that adversely affect the relationship between the company and the client. Customer perceptions of service recovery are explained in perceived justice in procedural justice, interactional justice, and distributive justice so that it can be seen directly in its influence on behavioral outcomes, namely trust, WOM (Word of Mouth), and loyalty. All of these elements can measure customer satisfaction with the products and services provided by Telkomsel. So, after researching 137 Telkomsel respondents, it was found that service recovery significantly influenced three perceived justice, namely procedural justice, interactional justice, and distributive justice, on complainant satisfaction. Where procedural justice contributes the most to complainant satisfaction with service recovery, while distributive justice contributes enough to implement service recovery, other than distributive justice only contributes a little. For behavioral outcomes on complainants who get service recovery, they tend to do WOM compared to having trust and loyalty. Meanwhile, the behavioral outcome of satisfied complainants has a higher trust than that of dissatisfied complainants. Dissatisfied complainants tend to do WOM compared to satisfied complainants. The behavioral outcome of satisfied complainants is much higher than the trust of satisfied complainants. This point indicates a recovery paradox. Meanwhile, WOM and loyalty in satisfied complainants and satisfied non-complainants have values that are not too different. From this research, the author assesses from the view of Telkomsel customers that service recovery is successful if the beginning of the system stage (procedural justice) is done correctly. Meanwhile, excellent handling of service recovery implementation maintains the company's image from the impact of negative WOM. Moreover, there are indications of a recovery paradox, indicating that Telkomsel still has opportunities to increase customer satisfaction. Service to customers who complain must be maintained to help determine customers' ever-changing needs and assess the company's performance so far.

Abstract

Due to the degradation of the beach, the sea level is approaching some of the buildings on Layar Putih beach. Tugu Layar Putih, which used to be accessible on foot, has been submerged. The condition of the beach looks damaged, especially at Tanjung Layar Putih, which is currently unattended and abandoned. This has a negative impact on the environment and can lead to flooding. The area from Tanjung Bunga Metro to Losari Beach is also experiencing high sedimentation. The high sedimentation is caused by the deposition of sediment carried by river currents in the area of the Jeneberang River estuary, as well as the presence of sea currents at the mouth of the river in sufficient volume. A sediment transport capacity that is not in balance with the supply is the process of beach retreat. This process is known as coastal erosion and causes changes in coastal morphology in addition to abrasion and estuarine sedimentation (accretion). While the coastal area of Makassar City is one of the beach tourist attraction areas located in Makassar City. The purpose of the study was to determine the causes of coastal erosion in order to find strategies to save the coastal environment in Makassar in order to prevent further coastal damage. The research methodology analyses beach typology, waves and sediments. The results of the study were obtained coastal sediment type clay type which has a high cohesion value, the wave direction is generally from the West and North towards the South, the most frequent wave height that can be analyzed by STWave CEDAS Genesis 4.03 Numerical Modelling for 10 years of modelling is 1.64 meters, the dynamics of shoreline change is quite balanced between erosion and accretion, the average wave period is 4.599 seconds, the sediment deposition rate is 1.66 cm/sec and sediment transport is 54,975,398.47 meter3/year. The sediment deposition rate is in a transitional (intermediate) condition so that sediment transport does not experience a significant decrease in transport. The conclusion from this study is that the beach tends to have more potential for sedimentation (accretion) than erosion (abrasion), due to the type of sediment and the construction of buildings on reclaimed land in the northern part of the study site.

Abstract

Character, known in Islam as morals, is an embedded trait in the human soul that spontaneously influences a person's attitudes, actions and behavior, whether towards good or bad. In the modern context, Muslims face global challenges, both internal in the form of backwardness in the education, political and economic sectors, and external in the form of negative accusations such as terrorism and anti-progress. Muslim youth, including mahasantri, have a strategic role as guardians of good religious values in society. However, strengthening the character of mahasantri is a necessity to face the challenges of shifting values in the era of globalization, especially in counteracting radicalism and intolerance. Character education, through a community-based approach, is an effective method to internalize good values in the mahasantri. One important effort in this context is through the Ta'limul Lail activity at Ma'had Al-Jami'ah, which is designed to deepen religious understanding, form positive habits, and improve noble morals. This activity not only has an impact on strengthening individual character, but also on the role of mahasantri as role models in society. Thus, Ta'limul Lail can be a strategic solution in shaping the character of mahasantri who are superior, religious, and contribute positively to the surrounding environment

Abstract

Anxiety is widely recognized for its significant impact on language learners' performance, commonly known as Foreign Language Anxiety (FLA) in language learning contexts. A major source of this anxiety is the fear of negative evaluation. This study aimed to investigate how English education students at Universitas Muhammadiyah Riau perceive the fear of negative evaluation in relation to their speaking ability. Using a qualitative approach with a descriptive research method, the study employed convenience sampling to select participants from the English education program. Data collection involved distributing questionnaires and conducting interviews to gain deeper insights into students' perspectives. The findings indicate that a substantial proportion of students (63.2%) reported experiencing fear of negative evaluation during their speaking classes. The primary concern identified among participants was the fear of making mistakes in front of both lecturers and peers, with an overwhelming majority (94.7%) expressing agreement on this issue. This study sheds light on the specific anxieties faced by English education students in a university context, underscoring the pervasive impact of fear of negative evaluation on their language learning experiences. By exploring these perceptions, the study contributes valuable insights into understanding the psychological barriers that hinder students' speaking abilities in the English language classroom. Addressing these anxieties is crucial for developing effective strategies to support students in overcoming their fear and enhancing their language proficiency and confidence

Abstract

The capacity to implement Early Childhood Education serves as a key quality benchmark in inclusive education, facilitating education for children with special needs alongside regular students. With increasing demand for inclusive schools, it is crucial to map educational institutions' capacities. This research aims to assess the capacity for inclusive education implementation in Malang City. According to the Ministry of Education and Culture, inclusive education capacity covers 14 aspects: regulations, management, funding, organization, socialization, physical environment, facilities, services, human resources, competency development, referrals and partners, data management, curriculum, and support systems. Employing a quantitative survey approach, this study involved distributing a questionnaire of 55 items covering the 14 aspects to 25 kindergarten schools across five sub-districts in Malang City. Findings reveal that only 12% of institutions possess a high capacity, while 88% fall into the medium category. Specific aspect evaluations showed: Regulations (89.30%), Management (72.60%), Funding (50.00%), Organization (47.60%), Socialization (47.60%), Physical Environment (47.60%), Facilities (45.30%), Services (35.65%), Human Resources (32.30%), Competency Development (31.70%), Referrals and Partners (28.50%), Data (24.40%), Curriculum (23.80%), and Support Systems (23.80%). Conclusively, inclusive Early Childhood Education in Malang City remains suboptimal. Implementation barriers include low awareness among community members, parents, and teachers regarding special needs contexts, limited facilities, insufficient competent educators, inadequate local governmental support, and budgetary constraints
