Abstract

This community service program aims to optimize the utilization of eco-enzyme as an environmentally friendly solution to improve the water quality of the Badung River in Denpasar. The program was designed using a participatory approach that involved local communities at all stages, including problem identification, training, implementation, and evaluation. Eco-enzyme was produced from organic household waste such as fruit and vegetable peels through a fermentation process, and subsequently applied to selected points of the river. The results of the program indicate that the application of eco-enzyme contributed to gradual improvements in water quality, particularly in reducing unpleasant odors, decreasing turbidity, and stabilizing pH levels. In addition, the program successfully enhanced community awareness and participation in environmental conservation, as reflected in improved waste management practices and reduced direct disposal of organic waste into the river. The participatory method also fostered a sense of responsibility and sustainability among community members. Despite its positive outcomes, the effectiveness of eco-enzyme application is influenced by factors such as dosage, consistency of use, and the level of existing pollution. Therefore, continuous implementation and community engagement are essential to achieve long-term impact. Overall, this program demonstrates that the use of eco-enzymes can be a practical, low-cost, and sustainable approach to improving urban river water quality.

Abstract

This community service program aims to equip tutors and students at the Mandiri Bakti Community Learning Center (PKBM Mandiri Bakti) with the skills and independence to foster creativity and independent learning. This activity involves training using interactive online learning media such as Google Classroom, Canva, Zoom meetings, and Quizziz. Field observations indicate that many students still experience difficulties with online learning, such as not knowing which applications or platforms to use for online teaching and learning. Given these challenges, the goal of this activity is to train tutors and students to use digital technology in the online learning process. The training method uses socialization and mentoring. Socialization activities are conducted to convey the importance of tutors' and students' knowledge of learning technologies such as Google Classroom, Canva, Zoom meetings, and Quizziz, along with examples of their application in online learning. The training results show that through this training activity, tutors' creativity in creating online learning media has increased. The use of digital technology for students can also support independent learning. Through this community service activity, the process of developing an independent learning character among tutors and students in non-formal education is beginning to emerge. With this increase, the process of strengthening character through digital technology in the classroom becomes more effective, easier, and more enjoyable.

Abstract

The rapid advancement of science and technology in pharmaceutical preparations has not entirely shifted public preference toward modern medicine. This is evident from the fact that many community groups continue to use herbal plants as alternative therapeutic options, although their knowledge regarding appropriate use remains limited. This community engagement program aimed to improve residents' knowledge and skills in Kampung Ketupat RT. 07, Banjarmasin City, in the utilization of herbal plants as antihypertensive agents. The program consisted of three phases: the preparation phase (survey and material development), the implementation phase (education and a workshop on celery juice preparation), and the evaluation phase, which involved comparing pre-test and post-test results. Educational activities were conducted in person using leaflets as learning media. The results showed an improvement in participants’ knowledge, as indicated by an increase in the number of participants with good knowledge levels—from 4 (26.67%) before the intervention (pre-test) to 10 (66.67%) after the educational session (post-test).

Abstract

The urgency of this community service partnership is that strengthening MSME products and management is a strategic step toward increasing competitiveness, business sustainability, and the preservation of Indonesia's cultural heritage. In an increasingly competitive market, many traditional spice-based food and beverage MSMEs face challenges such as limited product variety due to limited innovation, low selling prices, limited public knowledge and farmer empowerment, and financial accounting and marketing issues. The problems faced by Rayszava (Mijun) spice-processed food and beverage MSME tenants include insufficient production quantities, a lack of understanding of financial accounting, and marketing strategies that make it difficult to compete in both local and global markets. The solutions to overcome these problems include applying appropriate technology to increase quantity and maintain product quality, as well as offering product variety in spice mixture levels. This supports achieving the SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals), namely “Good Health and Well-being” and “Decent Work and Economic Growth”. The implementation methods applied include 1) Socialization, 2) Training, 3) Assistance, 4) Evaluation, and 5) Sustainability. The output targets achieved include the use of crystallization machines to optimize production and improve time and energy efficiency.

Abstract

This community service activity aimed to strengthen the financial management capacity of local government apparatus in North Toraja Regency through structured training. The background was rooted in findings from the Audit Board of Indonesia (BPK), which revealed weaknesses in the internal control system, asset management, and budgetary sustainability, despite repeated unqualified audit opinions (WTP). The activity employed a participatory training method, focusing on regulatory understanding about regional financial management, performance-based budgeting, accrual-based financial reporting, and transparency accountability mechanisms. The training involved 25 officials from key agencies (the Finance Agency, the Inspectorate, and technical SKPDs) and was evaluated using pre- and post-tests and group discussions. Results showed a significant increase in participants’ average competency score from baseline to 83.3 in the post-test, with 100% attendance. Outputs included a validated training module, activity documentation, and a draft scientific article for a SINTA-indexed journal. The activity successfully improved understanding of financial management principles, enhanced commitment to transparency and accountability, and laid the foundation for sustainable capacity building. Recommendations include regular follow-up training, institutionalizing internal mentoring, and integrating digital tools for cash and asset management.

Abstract

Most vocational high school (SMK) students lack adequate information regarding Scholastic Aptitude Tests (TPS) and Mathematical Reasoning Tests, which are critical components of university entrance examinations. This issue was observed among students at SMKS Yusuf Abdussatar Kediri, who demonstrated limited understanding of both test domains. This community service initiative aimed to enhance students' comprehension, skills, and preparedness in facing the TPS and Mathematical Reasoning Tests. The program was implemented through a four-stage framework: observation, preparation, execution, and evaluation. The intervention was delivered in person, targeting students of SMKS Yusuf Abdussatar Kediri as the primary participants. The program activities included instructional sessions on test material, provisioning of sample problems, strategy training for problem-solving, group discussions, and evaluation via a pretest and posttest design. Evaluation results indicated an improvement in students' abilities to solve scholastic aptitude and mathematical reasoning problems compared to their baseline scores, although the increase was not highly significant. Consequently, this training program serves as a strategic effort to foster student readiness, skills, and conceptual understanding for higher education entrance exams.

Abstract

Transparent, accurate, and accountable financial management is essential for good university governance. However, many higher education institutions still rely on manual or semi-manual spreadsheet-based systems, leading to recording errors, reporting delays, and limited access to financial information. This community service project (PkM) aimed to improve financial governance by implementing a desktop-based financial management information system at STAK Marturia. It involved financial administrative staff, the treasurer, and the Vice Chair II for finance. The method included needs analysis, system design, and development using Visual FoxPro DBMS, and testing through Black-Box Testing and User Acceptance Testing (UAT). Black-Box Testing is used to ensure that the system’s functions comply with the specifications, while User Acceptance Testing (UAT) assesses user acceptance and the system’s ease of use. The results show that the system improved transaction recording efficiency, accelerated financial reporting, and enhanced transparency and accountability. All main functions performed well in testing, and UAT confirmed user acceptance and practical benefits. Overall, the project successfully delivered an effective IT solution to support better financial governance in higher education.
