Abstract

This research investigates the significance of the Arabic language during the Jahiliyyah era in the formation of the social and cultural identity of the Arab community prior to the rise of Islam. The study centers on how language, especially through poetry, served as an instrument for asserting identity, power, and moral values. Utilizing a qualitative descriptive approach with content analysis, the research focuses on the works of renowned poets like Imru’ al-Qais and Antarah ibn Shaddad. Data collection was conducted through a comprehensive review of literature, analyzing diwan and other pertinent texts, while examining the interplay between language, social values, and the poets' influence within the political and social milieu of the time. The results demonstrate that in the Jahiliyyah period, language was not merely a communicative tool, but also a means to reinforce tribal identity and safeguard social honor. This study offers valuable insights into the role of language within social and political frameworks and can aid in the development of educational curricula for Arabic language and literature, particularly with regard to cultural and historical literacy. Furthermore, the research paves the way for further studies on the relationship between language and social transformation, particularly in the transition from the Jahiliyyah period to the Islamic period. Keywords: Jahiliyyah Arabic; Social and Cultural Identity; Poetry and Moral Expression Penelitian ini membahas peran bahasa Arab pada masa Jahiliyyah dalam membentuk identitas sosial dan budaya masyarakat Arab sebelum kedatangan Islam. Penekanan utama terletak pada bagaimana bahasa, khususnya dalam bentuk puisi, digunakan sebagai sarana untuk membangun identitas, kekuasaan, dan ekspresi moral. Metode yang diterapkan adalah pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif dengan content analysis, yang memfokuskan pada karya-karya penyair terkenal seperti Imru’ al-Qais dan Antarah ibn Shaddad. Pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui studi pustaka dengan menganalisis diwan serta literatur yang relevan, sambil menggali keterkaitan antara bahasa, nilai-nilai sosial, dan peran penyair dalam konteks politik dan sosial pada masa tersebut. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pada masa Jahiliyyah, bahasa bukan hanya sekadar alat komunikasi, tetapi juga berfungsi untuk memperkuat identitas suku dan menjaga kehormatan sosial. Penelitian ini memberikan kontribusi penting dalam memahami peran bahasa dalam struktur sosial dan politik, serta dapat digunakan untuk1 mengembangkan kurikulum pendidikan bahasa Arab dan sastra, dengan fokus pada aspek budaya dan literasi sejarah. Selain itu, penelitian ini membuka peluang untuk penelitian lebih lanjut mengenai hubungan antara bahasa dan perubahan sosial, khususnya pada periode transisi dari Jahiliyyah ke Islam. Abstract

This research discusses the existence of the Arabic language during the Abbasid Era, known as the golden period of development of Arabic language and literature, marked by unprecedented intellectual, institutional and cultural progress. This research aims to analyze the dynamics of the development of Arabic language and literature in the Abbasid era by highlighting the factors that encouraged this progress—such as large-scale translations, cultural interactions across civilizations, scientific patronage, and the maturation of literary criticism—and examining their implications for the development of contemporary Arabic language and literature. This study shows that the Abbasid period formed a solid foundation for linguistic traditions through the codification of grammar, enrichment of vocabulary, and the influence of rationalist thought which encouraged literary creativity. In contemporary times, this legacy is reflected in the renewal (tajdīd) of modern Arabic literature, the formation of new critical theories, and the revitalization of the Arabic language through standardization movements and the development of terms. The results of this study confirm that the historical continuity between the Abbasid period and the modern era plays an important role in maintaining the relevance of Arabic language and literature as a medium for intellectual expression, aesthetics and cultural identity in the current global context. Penelitian ini membahas eksistensi bahasa Arab pada Masa Bani Abbasiyah dikenal sebagai periode keemasan perkembangan bahasa dan sastra Arab, ditandai oleh kemajuan intelektual, institusional, dan kultural yang belum pernah terjadi sebelumnya. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis dinamika perkembangan bahasa dan sastra Arab pada era Abbasiyah dengan menyoroti faktor-faktor yang mendorong kemajuan tersebut—seperti penerjemahan besar-besaran, interaksi budaya lintas peradaban, patronase ilmiah, dan pematangan kritik sastra—serta menelaah implikasinya terhadap perkembangan bahasa dan sastra Arab kontemporer. Studi ini menunjukkan bahwa periode Abbasiyah membentuk fondasi kokoh bagi tradisi kebahasaan melalui kodifikasi gramatika, pengayaan kosakata, serta pengaruh pemikiran rasionalis yang mendorong kreativitas sastra. Di masa kontemporer, warisan tersebut tercermin dalam pembaruan (tajdīd) sastra Arab modern, pembentukan teori kritik baru, serta revitalisasi bahasa Arab melalui gerakan standardisasi dan pengembangan istilah. Hasil kajian ini menegaskan bahwa kesinambungan historis antara periode Abbasiyah dan era modern berperan penting dalam mempertahankan relevansi bahasa dan sastra Arab sebagai medium ekspresi intelektual, estetika, dan identitas budaya dalam konteks global saat ini.

Abstract

 مشكلة هذا البحث هي ما درجة صعوبة الأسئلة وتمييزها ومتابعتها في اختبار المفردات التحريري للفصل الثاني العالي المعهدي "ب" بمعهد دار اللغة والدعوة للبنات للعام الدراسي 2025 م. ويهدف هذا البحث لمعرفة جودة بنود الأسئلة من حيث معامل الصعوبة والتمييز ومتابعتها. استخدم هذا البحث المنهج الكمي الوصفي معتمدًا على أسلوب تحليل بنود الأسئلة. وقد جمعت البيانات من نتائج اختبار المفردات الذي خضع له 78 طالبة من الفصل الثاني العالي المعهدي "ب". وتم تحليل كل البنود باستخدام Anates V.4 لتحديد معامل الصعوبة والتمييز لكل سؤال. أظهرت نتائج التحليل أن من بين 27 سؤالًا تم تحليله، كانت هناك أسئلة صعبة تصل إلى 3 أسئلة (11%)، ومتوسطة تصل إلى 17 سؤالا (63%)، وسهلة تصل 7 أسئلة (26%) حسب معامل الصعوبة. ومن حيث قوة التمييز، كانت هناك أسئلة قبيحة تصل إلى سؤال واحد (3،7%)، وكافية تصل إلى 5 أسئلة (18،5%)، وجيدة تصل إلى 17 سؤالا (63%)، وجيدة جدا تصل إلى 4 (14،8%). وهذه النتائج تدل على أن بعض الأسئلة تحتاج إلى التنقيح لتكون أكثر فاعلية في قياس قدرات الطلاب بشكل عادل. ويُؤمل أن يُسهم هذا البحث في تحسين جودة تقييم تعليم اللغة العربية، وخاصة في إعداد أسئلة المفردات التحريرية التي تتميز بالصدق والموثوقية. الكلمات المفتاحية : اختبار المفردات؛ بنود الأسئلة؛ تحليل. This study aims to evaluate the quality of vocabulary test items administered to second-year students of Aliyah Ma’hadi “B” at Ma’had Darul Lughah wa ad-Da’wah lil Banat in the 2025 academic year. The research focuses on three main aspects: difficulty level, discriminating power, and overall item performance. Using a descriptive quantitative method, data were collected from a vocabulary test taken by 78 students, and all 27 items were analyzed with Anates V.4 to determine their psychometric characteristics. The results show that, based on the difficulty index, 11% of the items were categorized as difficult, 63% as moderate, and 26% as easy. Regarding discriminating power, 3.7% of the items were considered poor, 18.5% fair, 63% good, and 14.8% very good. These findings indicate that most items function effectively, although several require revision to better align with assessment standards. Items with weak performance should be improved or rewritten, while items showing strong psychometric quality can be stored in the test bank for future use. This study is expected to contribute to enhancing the quality of Arabic language assessment, particularly in developing valid and reliable vocabulary test items. Abstract

This study aims to examine the importance of Arabic in the development of Islamic education and culture on the Island of a Thousand Mosques, the nickname for Lombok Island, which is famous for its numerous mosques and the religious life of its people. Arabic, as the language of the Qur'an, plays a central role in strengthening religious understanding, improving the quality of Islamic education and culture, and shaping the Islamic identity of the local community. This study used a qualitative approach with in-depth interviews and field observations in several Islamic boarding schools and madrasas on Lombok Island. The results show that mastery of Arabic not only functions as a means of religious communication but also as a main pillar in the process of internalizing Islamic cultural values. Arabic has proven to be the main medium for studying yellow books, reading the Qur'an, and character education based on Islamic educational and cultural values.

Abstract

This study addresses the issue of how the concept of al-fiʿil al-muḍāriʾ al-mabnī and bināʾ al-ḥurūf is presented in classical and contemporary Arabic grammar literature. The objective of this research is to analyze and compare the explanations of this concept in both traditions in order to identify patterns of continuity and development. This study employs a qualitative approach using a library research method by examining major classical works such as Al-Ajurrūmiyyah and Alfiyah Ibn Mālik along with their commentaries, as well as contemporary nahwu references. The findings reveal that classical scholars tend to explain the concept in a concise and rule-oriented manner, focusing on theoretical formulations, while contemporary scholars present it in a more systematic, contextual, and pedagogically oriented way, supported by clearer examples and structured explanations. The study concludes that although the fundamental principles remain consistent across both traditions, there has been significant development in terms of presentation, terminology, and instructional clarity in contemporary Arabic grammar studies. .Keywords: binā’ al-ḥurūf; fiʿil muḍāriʾ; mabnī; classical Arabic grammar; contemporary Arabic grammar

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis pemanfaatan Instagram sebagai media pembelajaran bahasa Arab di era digital. Penelitian berfokus pada bentuk pemanfaatan Instagram serta kelebihan dan kekurangannya dalam mendukung pembelajaran bahasa Arab. Penelitian menggunakan metode Systematic Literature Review (SLR) dengan pendekatan deskriptif kualitatif. Data diperoleh dari artikel ilmiah tahun 2020–2025 dan dianalisis melalui tahap identifikasi, seleksi, evaluasi, dan sintesis data menggunakan model PRISMA. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa fitur Instagram seperti reels, carousel, feeds, dan stories efektif mendukung pembelajaran mufradat, nahwu, serta keterampilan istima’, qira’ah, kitabah, dan kalam. Penyajian materi secara visual dan audiovisual membuat pembelajaran lebih menarik, fleksibel, dan sesuai dengan karakteristik generasi digital. Selain itu, Instagram juga mendukung pembelajaran mandiri (self-directed learning) karena materi dapat diakses kapan saja dan di mana saja. Namun, penggunaan Instagram masih menghadapi kendala seperti distraksi digital, ketergantungan terhadap akses internet, dan belum terjaminnya validitas materi pembelajaran. Oleh karena itu, peran guru tetap diperlukan dalam mengarahkan dan menyeleksi konten agar pembelajaran berlangsung efektif dan sesuai tujuan. Abstract

Arabic language learning based on kitab kuning in formal educational institutions faces unique challenges, ranging from differences in students' foundational abilities to the limited availability of competent teaching staff. This study aims to examine the implementation of kitab kuning-based Arabic language learning in the Middle East Class at MAN 1 Pekanbaru, encompassing planning, organizing, implementation, evaluation, as well as its supporting and inhibiting factors. The study employs a descriptive qualitative approach, with data collected through observation, interviews, and documentation, subsequently analyzed through data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The findings indicate that the learning process takes place systematically through four stages: planning in the form of lesson plan (RPP) development oriented toward kitab kuning reading proficiency; organizing through role distribution, scheduling, and adequate facilities; implementation that integrates the bandongan and sorogan methods with modern approaches in an interactive manner; and evaluation emphasizing practical competencies in reading and translating classical Arabic texts. Supporting factors include a structured class program, institutional support, and the pesantren background of a portion of the students, while inhibiting factors encompass student ability heterogeneity, heavy academic workload, and the limited availability of substitute teachers. This study concludes that the integration of kitab kuning into the formal Arabic language curriculum at MAN 1 Pekanbaru is effective in enhancing students' classical Arabic literacy and opening pathways for further study at higher education institutions in the Middle East.

Abstract

Abstract This study is motivated by the dominance of conventional assessment practices in maharah qira’ah, which tend to focus on final outcomes and fail to comprehensively capture the cognitive processes involved in reading. This study aims to examine the innovation of interactive assessment-based evaluation using the Lumi Education platform and to identify its characteristics, advantages, and pedagogical implications. This research employs a qualitative approach with a library research design, utilizing data from relevant journal articles, books, and academic documents. Data were analyzed using content analysis techniques. The findings indicate that Lumi-based assessment is characterized by interactivity, adaptability, and data-driven processes, enabling the integration of reading activities and assessment simultaneously. Its main advantages include efficiency, objectivity, and immediate feedback, Pedagogically, this approach supports student-centered learning and promotes more meaningful assessment practices. Keywords: digital assessment; interactive assessment; Lumi Education; maharah qira’ah      Abstrak Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh dominannya penilaian maharah qira’ah yang bersifat konvensional dan berorientasi pada hasil akhir, sehingga belum mampu merepresentasikan proses kognitif membaca secara komprehensif. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji inovasi penilaian maharah qira’ah berbasis interactive assessment melalui platform Lumi Education serta mengidentifikasi karakteristik, keunggulan, dan implikasi pedagogisnya. Penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan jenis library research, dengan sumber data berupa artikel jurnal, buku, dan dokumen ilmiah yang relevan. Teknik analisis data dilakukan melalui analisis isi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penilaian berbasis Lumi Education memiliki karakteristik interaktif, adaptif, dan berbasis data, serta mampu mengintegrasikan proses membaca dan evaluasi secara simultan. Keunggulan utamanya terletak pada efisiensi, objektivitas, dan umpan balik langsung. Secara pedagogis, pendekatan ini mendukung pembelajaran yang berpusat pada siswa.   Kata Kunci: digital assessment; interactive assessment;  Lumi Education; maharah qira’ah
