This study aims to analyze leadership management strategies in improving lecturer performance at Private Islamic Higher Education Institutions, focusing on STAI Al-Hikmah Tebing Tinggi and STIT Batubara. The study examines lecturer performance conditions, coordination patterns between institutional leaders and study program administrators, and leadership strategies in strengthening the implementation of the Tri Dharma of higher education. A qualitative multisite design was employed, with data collected through in-depth interviews, participant observation, and document analysis. Data were analyzed using an interactive approach involving data reduction, data display, verification, and conclusion drawing, while credibility was ensured through source and method triangulation. The findings reveal that lecturer performance improvement is achieved through collaborative academic leadership, effective coordination, continuous professional development, and systematic monitoring and evaluation. Leadership strategies include strengthening pedagogical competence, promoting research and publication productivity, enhancing community engagement, creating a supportive academic environment, and implementing sustainable reward mechanisms. Abstract

The implementation of the Independent Curriculum in Madrasah Aliyah presents opportunities to improve the relevance and quality of Islamic education through greater flexibility, contextual learning, and student-centered approaches. However, its implementation still faces challenges related to teacher competence, unequal access to technology, limited learning resources, assessment practices, and institutional readiness. This study aims to examine the characteristics, implementation practices, and main challenges of the Independent Curriculum in Madrasah Aliyah. This study employs a qualitative descriptive approach based on a review of relevant literature on curriculum implementation and Islamic education. The findings indicate that the Independent Curriculum is implemented through curriculum flexibility and local context adaptation, student-centered and differentiated learning, competency development through project-based activities, and formative and authentic assessment. These approaches enable madrasahs to integrate academic competencies with Islamic values, local wisdom, practical skills, and character development. Nevertheless, effective implementation requires continuous teacher professional development, adequate learning resources, technological support, and institutional capacity. The study concludes that the Independent Curriculum has strong potential to strengthen the relevance and quality of Islamic education in Madrasah Aliyah.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the strategies employed by Islamic Religious Education teachers to internalize character education values in fostering students' environmental care attitudes at SMA Negeri 1 Medan, SMA Negeri 2 Medan, and SMA Negeri 3 Medan. The study adopted a qualitative approach with a descriptive research design. Data were collected through interviews, participant observation, and document analysis involving six Islamic Religious Education teachers and 60 students. The data were analyzed using the interactive model proposed by Miles, Huberman, and SaldaƱa. The findings reveal that the internalization of environmental care character values was implemented through three main strategies: integrating environmental values into Islamic Religious Education learning materials, implementing environment-based project learning, and reinforcing values through religious activities and reflective practices. These strategies facilitated an internalization process that connected religious understanding with authentic experiences, habitual practices, and the school's religious culture, enabling students to perceive environmental stewardship as an integral part of amanah (trust) and Islamic moral conduct (akhlaq). This study contributes to Islamic Religious Education scholarship by demonstrating that fostering environmental care character requires the integration of contextual learning, experiential activities, spiritual guidance, and a supportive school culture.
