Abstract

Indonesia, as a multicultural country, faces serious challenges in maintaining social cohesion due to the increasing potential for conflicts based on intolerance. Islamic Religious Education, which has tended to be normative, is considered to be less than optimal in fostering religious moderation. This study aims to analyze the development of Islamic Religious Education materials based on multicultural values to strengthen religious tolerance and moderation, as well as to examine the role of teachers and school culture. The research uses a qualitative approach with a multisite study design at Panca Budi High School and Darussalam High School. Data collection was conducted through observation, in-depth interviews, and document studies. The results show that the integration of multicultural values into the curriculum and Islamic Religious Education materials is carried out systematically by emphasizing the social dimensions of Islam and applying contextual and dialogical learning strategies. Teachers act as agents of moderation who build an inclusive classroom climate, supported by a school culture that affirms the value of diversity through institutional policies and practices. These findings reinforce multicultural education theory and offer a model for developing an Islamic Religious Education curriculum that is adaptive to the realities of a pluralistic society and relevant to teachers and education policymakers.

Abstract

Islamic education amid the tide of modernization faces serious challenges in the form of weakening spiritual character and the disconnection of religious values from the local cultural context. This condition calls for an educational approach that is not only normative, but also contextual and rooted in local wisdom. This study aims to identify the Islamic educational values contained in the Sedulur Papat Limo Pancer philosophy and analyze strategies for integrating them into the spiritual character development of students in Nagori Maligas Bayu. This study uses a qualitative approach with a literature study method and a philosophical-contextual analysis of the Sedulur Papat Limo Pancer concept, combined with an Islamic educational perspective. The results show that the Sedulur Papat Limo Pancer philosophy contains Islamic educational values, including purity, sincerity, gratitude, empathy, responsibility, discipline, moral courage, respect for parents, and balance in life. The integration of these values in Islamic education has implications for strengthening the spiritual character of students holistically through a reflective, dialogical, and locally-based approach. This study emphasizes the importance of local wisdom as a strategic resource for the development of relevant and sustainable Islamic education.

Abstract

This research abstract analyzes the role of Islamic Religious Education in responding to the transformation of religiousness among adolescents in the digital age through a case study at SMAN 1 Kota Bumi Lampung. The objectives of this study are to (1) identify the forms of transformation in adolescent religiosity, (2) analyze the role of Islamic religious education teachers in responding to these changes, and (3) reveal the challenges and opportunities in fostering contextual, moderate religiosity rooted in Islamic values. The research used a qualitative method with a case study approach, involving twelve informants from Islamic Religious Education teachers, deputy principals, and students. The results showed that adolescent religiosity underwent a transformation through changes in religious authority sources and more fluctuating worship practices. Islamic Religious Education teachers played an important role in facilitating critical reflection and mediating between normative Islamic teachings and digital reality. This study is expected to contribute to the development of Islamic Religious Education learning strategies that are relevant to the digital development of adolescents.

Abstract

The development of the digital age and globalization has posed serious challenges to the character building of the younger generation, particularly in terms of weakening independence, self-regulation, and spiritual resilience. Cognitive-oriented education is considered incapable of responding to the crisis of dependency, instant culture, and the increasing degradation of values. This study aims to reconstruct the concept of independent character education according to the thoughts of Ibn Qayyim al-Jauziyyah and analyze its relevance in the context of contemporary Islamic education. This study uses a qualitative approach with a figure-based study type based on library research. Data were obtained from the primary works of Ibn Qayyim al-Jauziyyah and relevant secondary literature, then analyzed using thematic content analysis techniques. The results show that, according to Ibn Qayyim, independent character education is built holistically through gradual education, exemplary behavior, habituation, simplicity of life, utilization of time, and spiritual control through muhasabah, with tauhid and tazkiyatun nafs as the main foundations. Independence is understood as the freedom of the soul from worldly dependence and lust. The implications of this study emphasize the importance of integrating spiritual values into Islamic character education so that the formation of students' independence is transformative, sustainable, and relevant to the challenges of modern education.
