Abstract

Teacher performance in Indonesia is often influenced by internal factors such as work motivation, professional competence, and gratitude, which play crucial roles in learning effectiveness. However, the balance between psychological, professional, and spiritual aspects in improving teacher performance has received limited attention. This study aims to analyze the differences, relationships, and effects of work motivation, professional competence, and gratitude on teacher performance. The research employed a quantitative approach with both descriptive and inferential analyses, including t-tests, Pearson correlations, and multiple linear regression. The respondents consisted of 70 teachers from various educational levels in Indonesia. The findings indicate that all four variables fall into the high category. There is no significant difference based on gender, but there are significant differences based on education level, rank, and salary. Regression analysis shows a simultaneous influence of 48%, with gratitude emerging as the most dominant factor (β = 0.401). These findings highlight the importance of maintaining a balance between spiritual and professional dimensions in enhancing teacher performance. The implication is that educational institutions should strengthen teachers’ competence, motivation, and spirituality.

Abstract

Character education is a fundamental aspect in shaping students' personalities, but its effectiveness greatly depends on the synergy between parents and teachers. This study aims to analyze effective synergy models in character education at Al-Ulum Private High School and Jabal Rahmah Mulia Boarding School in Medan. This study uses a qualitative research method with a descriptive approach. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and document analysis to explore communication patterns, parental involvement, and collaboration challenges. The results show that participatory communication, family support, and a conducive social environment are key factors in successful synergy, which has a positive impact on improving student discipline, responsibility, and honesty. Teachers play the role of murabbi who instill morals, while parents reinforce values at home. The main obstacles include parents' time constraints, differences in perceptions of character education, and the influence of the social environment. This study produced a synergy model based on the Indonesian socio-cultural context that is adaptive to Islamic values and the realities of urban families. The implication is that schools need to strengthen collaboration with parents through digital communication and moral values-based parenting programs to strengthen student character building.

Abstract

The main context of this study arises from the low quality of Islamic Religious Education learning in schools, which is caused by the suboptimal use of digital technology among teachers. Limited digital competence, a lack of innovative learning media, and weak professional collaboration have resulted in Islamic Religious Education learning that remains conventional and less responsive to students’ needs. This study aims to analyze strategies for strengthening the quality of Islamic Religious Education through digital-based initiatives facilitated by the Teacher Working Group in West Pontianak. Employing a qualitative case study approach, data were collected through in-depth interviews, participant observations, and document analysis involving twelve informants, including Islamic Religious Education teachers, instructors, group administrators, and supervisors. The findings indicate that quality strengthening is carried out through needs-based planning, interactive digital training, continuous mentoring, and collaborative professional learning communities. The novelty of this research lies in its focus on the Teacher Working Group as a center of digital transformation for Islamic Religious Education. The implication of this study is the need to expand this strategic model to enhance digital competence among Islamic Religious Education teachers.

Abstract

Islamic boarding schools in this era of transformation are required to maintain traditional values while adapting to technological developments. This condition encourages the need for educational innovation that not only emphasizes memorization but also the internalization of moral values based on the Qur'an. The Living Qur'an approach is relevant because it emphasizes the appreciation and practice of Qur'anic values in the lives of students. This study analyzes the integration of technology in the application of Living Qur'an as a moral education strategy at the Tahfizil Qur'an Islamic Boarding School of the North Sumatra Islamic Center Foundation. The method used is descriptive qualitative through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation studies. The results show that the use of digital media such as memorization applications, online platforms, and social media can increase the effectiveness of moral values internalization, strengthen spirituality, and motivate students to practice Qur'anic teachings. The integration of technology creates adaptive and contextual learning without losing the authenticity of the Islamic boarding school. This study recommends the development of policies and teacher training based on Islamic values to optimize the role of technology in moral education through the Living Qur'an approach.

Abstract

Islamic education faces a significant challenge in the Society 5.0 era, where the dominance of cognitive approaches often fails to address the critical need for students' spiritual strengthening. This situation creates an urgent demand for more holistic educational models grounded in Sufi principles. This study aims to map the development of research on the integration of Sufism into Islamic education and its contribution to enhancing spiritual intelligence. A Systematic Literature Review (SLR) was employed to analyze scholarly literature from 2000 to 2024, following the stages of research question formulation, selection criteria establishment, cross-database searching (international and national), article screening, data extraction, and thematic analysis. The synthesis of findings reveals that Sufi values—such as contemplation (tafakkur), soul purification (tazkiyah), and character building—significantly strengthen curriculum design, learning strategies, and student transformation. This integration has been proven to foster the development of spiritual, cognitive, and emotional intelligence as the foundation for cultivating the complete human (insan kamil). The study's implications underscore the necessity of developing more humanistic, adaptive, and holistic-oriented Islamic education models to navigate the complexities of the digital age.

Abstract

Globalization and technological developments have posed significant challenges to students’ character education, including weakened morality, rising individualism, diminished appreciation of cultural values, and reduced sensitivity to religious teachings. This study aims to analyze the implementation of integrating Minangkabau local wisdom and Islamic values in character education at SMAN 1 West Sumatra, as well as the strategies employed by the school to optimize this integration. The study uses a qualitative case study approach, involving in-depth interviews with school leaders, teachers, and students, participatory observations, and analysis of school documents and visual archives. Data were thematically analyzed using the interactive model of Miles, Huberman, and Saldaña, with triangulation to ensure validity. The results show that character internalization occurs holistically through habituation, teacher role modeling, school routines, religious and social activities, and community involvement. Values such as honesty, discipline, responsibility, and tolerance are internalized practically. Integrating Islamic values with the principle of Adat Basandi Syara’, Syara’ Basandi Kitabullah strengthens students’ religious and cultural identity while equipping them with moral, social, and reflective competencies relevant to modern challenges.

Abstract

Al-Qur'an literacy is a significant challenge in Indonesia, where most students have low reading and comprehension skills. This phenomenon is exacerbated by changes in learning culture, such as children's preference for gadgets and digital entertainment, which reduces the time available for reading the Al-Qur'an. This study aims to analyze the contribution of Madrasah Diniyah Takmiliyah Awaliyah as a driver of Quran literacy in Padangsidimpuan City, as well as to explore learning strategies, supporting factors, and obstacles to its implementation. The method used is multisite qualitative, with data collection through participatory observation, interviews, and documentation in two madrasas. The results show that the Qur'an literacy program at Madrasah Diniyah Takmiliyah Awaliyah, including tahsin, tahfiz, and tilawah competitions, is effective in improving reading and comprehension skills, as well as fostering a love for and internalization of the values of the Qur'an. The success of the program depends on teacher competence, parental involvement, and a conducive learning environment. The implications of this study confirm the strategic role of Madrasah Diniyah Takmiliyah Awaliyah as a non-formal institution that strengthens Al-Qur'an literacy, shapes religious character, and prepares a generation of Muslims with noble character and Qur'anic competence.

Abstract

Students’ understanding of kauniyah verses in the Qur’an, particularly regarding the phenomenon of rain, is often limited because the information presented is general and lacks integration with scientific explanations, resulting in varied interpretations. This study aims to develop an Augmented Reality (AR)-based learning media to visualize the process of rainfall based on QS. An-Nūr verse 43 and QS. Ar-Rūm verse 48. Support from tafsir ilmi and the water cycle theory is used to comprehensively understand the meaning of the verses. Students in the Information Systems Study Program are required to connect Qur’anic verses with scientific phenomena, but conventional media limit effective learning. The AR application, developed using Unity, Vuforia, and Blender, displays 3D animations of evaporation, transpiration, condensation, and precipitation phases. The development follows the Multimedia Development Life Cycle (MDLC) method, ensuring a procedural, interactive, and user-friendly approach. Testing results show that the application runs stably and effectively enhances understanding of the relationship between the verses, their interpretation, and natural phenomena in a contextual manner, implicating AR as an innovative model to enhance Qur'anic science literacy and digital learning experience.
