Abstract

[Title: The System of Community Trust in the Unda Watershed Klungkung Regency] The Unda River watershed (DAS) is located in Klungkung Regency. The Unda watershed is derived from 7 rivers: (1) Bajing River, (2) Barak River, (3) Krekuk River, (4) Mangening River, (5) Masin River, (6) Sah River, and (7) Telagawaja River. The length of the river is 24,400 meters, 77 meters wide, 80 to 1 meter deep, 75 meters in height with 5.422 liter / second up to 7,390 liter / sec of water flow. The upper limit of the Unda River is Telagawaja River, including the Selat Village, Klungkung District, while the downstream of this river ends in Banjar Karangdadi and Banjar Pasurungan, Kusamba Village, Dawan Subdistrict, which further extends into the sea to the Badung Strait. The river is almost never dry throughout the year. Communities in this river still have a system of trust for cultural activities, one of the cultural elements of the religious system that is still used this river for the bath (pesiraman) the gods (betara). In addition, people still use this river for self-cleaning, sacrificial sacrifice, ashes, and fertility and safety ceremonies. This place is still trusted by the community as a sacred place because it is inhabited by such subtle creatures: memedi, tonya, wang samar / gamang.

Abstract

[Title: Mastering verb form of –te for declaring ongoing and sequential activity on the students of grade XI IPA SMA PGRI 6 Denpasar Academic Year 2016/2017] This research is aimed to know (1) the ability in mastering verb form of -te on the students of grade XI IPA SMA PGRI 6 Denpasar. (2) The difficulty is faced by the students of grade XI IPA SMA PGRI 6 Denpasar in the use of verb form of –te. The research with this qualitative descriptive design has research subject, that is the students of grade XI IPA SMA PGRI 6 Denpasar and research object, that is verb form of -te. The data is collected through test method. The data is analysed with qualitative and quantitative. The result of the research shows that (1) the ability in mastering the verb form of -te on the students of grade XI IPA SMA PGRI 6 Denpasar belong to lack category, average mark achieved is 50. There are six students 24 % students get enough mark and 19 students 76 % students achieved mark lack;(2) the dificulty is faced by the sudents of grade XI IPA SMA PGRI 6 Denpasar in the use of verb form of -te stated the running activity and ordering activity based on the test result that is the students still confused with the use of verb form of -te between doublé consonant /t/ and /t/ which is not doublé such as mi-ru verb in the verb form of -te become mi-te not mi-tte because mi-ru verb belong to ichidandoushi which is replace gobi(ru) become /te/ and attach with basic morferm verb (mi) so become mi-te.

Abstract

Translation has important role to the development of science field, especially in accounting field which has been expanding in this globalization era. Hence, it is very interesting to analyze the translation of English accounting terms into Indonesian because it contains many accounting typical terms and specific vocabulary usually used by accountant. Furthermore, this research focuses on identifying of accounting terms in English accounting book and their equivalences in Indonesian. The data was collected by note taking and comparing techniques. Then, the data analysis is performed to search the form and category of the English accounting terms. Parallel corpora were used in presenting source language and target language data. Descriptive qualitative methods were applied to analyze all research problems. The theory of translation techniques proposed by Molina and Albir (2002) was applied in order to find translation techniques chosen by translator in translating English accounting terms and the theory of grammatical proposed by Quirk et al (1985) to find the categories of word, compound word and phrase. This research is expected to contribute to further research related to accounting vocabularies consist of a set of words, compound words and phrase which are considered available in all languages of the world.

Abstract

[Title: The Use of Indonesian Language (Spelling) in the Official Outgoing Letters of Kesiman Kertalangu Village, district of Denpasar Timur, Denpasar]. The use of Indonesian language, especially the use of spelling in the official outgoing letters of Kesiman Kertalangu Village, district of Denpasar Timur, Denpasar, is still a lot of mistakes. In this research, the object of research is the spelling errors in Indonesian language. This research applied observation method and note-taking technique to collect the data, synchronic descriptive qualitative method was used to present the result of the analisis combined with inductive technique. In this research, some spelling errors were found. The errors found in the official outgoing letters of Kesiman Kertalangu village are error in using final stop (.), comma (,),hyphen (-), a slash (/), a colon (:), and error in using capital letters.

Abstract

[Title: The Application of Mind Mapping Method to Improve Writing Skill in Writting English Descriptive Text of Students at Grades X AP-1 SMK Widya Mandala Badung] The aim of this paper is to determine students’ writing skill in doing descriptive. The research was conducted in the form of classroom action research, and mind mapping as learning method applied for improving students’writing skill. The application of this method in teaching and learning process arre expected to solve the problem that are faced by students at grade X AP1 SMK Widya Mandala. Constructivism theory were used to determine the learning model , in this case it has the same direction with mind mapping method. The theory of grammar and writing theory were used as a reference in making the assessment rubric. Methods of data collection and data analysis techniques performed quantitatively and qualitatively. Data were collected through a method of testing, observatiaon and questionnaires. The quantitative data collected through test and questionnaires, while the qualitative through observation. The result of the data analysis were presented in tables and charts with the description. The increased writing skill of the students can be seen from the average class grade, that is it is 63,7 in the pre-test, in the first cycle it became 73,9 and in the second cycle it became 78,3. The increased writing skill of the students is also proved by the increased percentage of grade achieved by the students that is more than 70. In the pre-test, the percentage of grade achieved was 33,33%, in the first cycle it became 59,26% and in the second cycle it became 100%.

Abstract

This writing focused on “The Conflict of Beatrice Prior in Roth’s Divergent”. The specific aim of this scientific writing is to find out and describe the conflicts that are faced by Beatrice Prior and also to find out the source of the conflicts in Roth’s Divergent. The data of the research were taken from Divergent written by Veronica Roth. The research method used in this study are qualitative –descriptive method. The data were collected through library research, then the data were analyzed using non-formal technique. The theory of literature is important in analyzing character while the theory of psychology is used in analyzing conflict. The theory of character is taken from Lajos Egri about Three dimensions of characterization, while theory of conflict is taken from Tayla Bauer and Berrin Endargon. Based on the result of analysis, it can be concluded that The Conflict of Beatrice Prior in Roth’s Divergent consists of internal conflict and external conflict. Beatrice Prior or known as Tris is the main character of this story based on the role of the character in the story. The types of Tris’s internal conflicts are categorized as Intrapersonal conflict. Meanwhile, the types of Tris’s external conflicts are categorized as Interpersonal conflict and Intergroup conflict. The source of the conflicts are differing in Attitudes, Values, and Perceptions.

Abstract

This study is specifically aimed at identifying the forms of adjuncts and the meanings they carry. In order to analyze the data, descriptive-qualitative approach was applied in this research. The data are sentences which contain adverbials functioning as adjuncts and they were taken from a novel entitled Fifty Shades of Freed, written by Erika Leonard Mitchell, also known as E.L. James (2012). They were collected through library research and then presented informally by providing some examples and elaborations. There are some important points that can be concluded based on the results of analysis. First, adjuncts may appear in many forms, either phrases or clauses. Phrases forming adjuncts found in this novel are noun phrases, adverb phrases, and prepositional phrases. Meanwhile, clauses forming adjuncts which appear in this novel are finite verb clauses, non-finite verb clauses (including to-infinitive, bare infinitive, -ing participles, and -ed participles), and verbless clauses. Secondly, there are various meanings carried by adjuncts found in Fifty Shades of Freed. Adjuncts which denote space or place carry the meanings of position, direction, and distance. Adjuncts referring to time carry the meanings of time position, duration, frequency, and time relationship. Adjuncts showing process carry the meanings of manner, means, instrument, and agentive. Besides, there are also adjuncts which imply respect, cause, purpose, and concession found in this novel.

Abstract

The aim of this study is to know the types and the reason of using loanword found in Bali and Beyond Magazine. Another specific reason is to find out how many the loanword is used in these magazines. The data were collected by using observation method then they were analyzed by identifying the loanwords found in the magazines, then categorizing whether it is loanwords based on the level, loanwords based on the language involved and loanwords based on the frequency. Based on the analysis above, there are three types of loanwords: (1) loanwords based on the level that can be divided into two, they are: necessary loanword and unnecessary loanword, (2) loanword based on the language involved that can be divided into two, they are: loanword as culture and loanword as intimate and (3) loanword based on the frequency that can be divided into two, they are: loanword as speech borrowing and loanword as language borrowing.

Abstract

[Title: Indonesian Language and Nationalism in Indonesia] This paper reveals the relationship between the Indonesian language and nationalism, and their relation to one another. Indonesian recognized derived from the Malay language is the lingua franca formerly in trade in the archipelago. This paper is lifted language and nationalism with the following questions: (1) how the Malay language to be Indonesian? (2) how the spirit of Indonesian nationalism becomes a factor?, (3) how the Indonesian language in Indonesia's national and local context? From the results it appears that the Indonesian study originated from the ancient Malay language which evolved into the lingua franca in the association between the peoples of the Indonesian archipelago. Malay language that can momentum in youth congress Indonesia II (1928), expressed as the Indonesian language. Associated with nationalism, the Indonesian language becomes an important factor because of the language, ideas of nationhood developed within political organizations in the colonial period and the period afterwards. Indonesian in a local context to be understood that the regional languages have enriched the Indonesian language in its development. Next in the national context, the Indonesian language remain important, as a symbol of unity, a unifying tool, serves as an introduction in education, as a means of communication at the national level, as a means of development of culture, science, and technology.

Abstract

The aims of this paper is to describe the illocutionary act especially the kinds and the functions of constative illocutionary acts. Qualitative approached was applied in this research. The data were taken from novel written by Soman Chainani. All the data were collected based on the utterance uttered by the characters in the novel. In the other words, the data were classified based on their kinds and functions. Meanwhile in presenting the result this paper used informal methods. After analyzing the data based on the Bach and Harnis’ theory, it can be concluded all the kinds of constative illocutionary act were found in the novel. Most of the kinds use specific verbs as the marker of the kinds and some others have the same meaning without marking verbs. The functions of constative illocutionary act are to declare something, to predict an event, to recount an event from the past, to report the rumor, to describe someone physically, to provide an information, to inform the news, to confirm something, to confess something, to retract unreliable utterance, to agree with someone proposition, to disagree with someone’s thought, to dispute an assumption, to answer someone’s question, to give suggestion to others and to guess the possibility of something.
