Abstract

Background: The principal aim of this study was to evaluate the impact of employing the Reading, Mind Mapping, and Sharing (RMS) learning strategy on student learning outcomes within a course focused on road and bridge construction. The motivation for c conducting this research arose from the observation that SMK Negeri 1 Sumedang students exhibited inferior performance compared to their KKM peers in the context of road and bridge construction. Methods: Furthermore, limited research has explored the implementation of student-centred educational models within this specific realm. To address these concerns comprehensively, researchers opted to utilize a quasi-experimental strategy encompassing a non-equivalent control design. Data collection involved gathering information before the implementation of intervention methods through pre-tests and subsequently following up with post-tests post-intervention.Result: A   detailed analysis of the gathered data demonstrated clear discrepancies in learning outcomes between both experimental and control groups. Additionally, A notable discovery involved calculating normalized gain (N Gain) values for participants utilizing RMS model techniques.  Such calculations indicated a moderate level of enhancement, as apparent through median value determinations yielding 0.553.  Additionally, outcomes among exceptionally effective participants yielded impressive N gain percentages, standing at around 55.26 percent. Conclusion: Accordingly, it can be concluded without doubt that implementing teaching techniques based on RMS (Reading, Mind Mapping, and Sharing) principles hold substantial promise in enhancing student comprehension levels within road and bridge construction curriculums.

Abstract

Background: The use of technology needs to be increased in the Engineering Mechanics learning process, this is because the learning process carried out by teachers tends to be monotonous, apart from that the relevant school also does not provide textbooks as a learning tool which results in students not having reading books and only relying on notes sourced from learning. in the classroom. The lack of availability of teaching materials makes students passive in the learning process so that it can be said that the learning carried out is less effective. Therefore, this research aims to develop and analyze the feasibility of Instagram-based learning media as a breakthrough to overcome these problemsMethods: This research uses the Research and Development (R&D) method which applies the development model by Sugiyono. The data collection process entailed the usage of questionnaires to acquire primary data; on the other hand, the secondary data was utilised as supporting documentation. Results: The results in the form of an Instagram-based learning media product which obtained an assessment score from material expert validators of 93.94%, and media experts of 97.7% so that both are included in the very feasible category. . Meanwhile, the trials carried out on students obtained a score of 74.33% in the initial trial, and a score of 72.3% for the usage trial in the feasible categoryConclusion: Based on the results of the research that has been carried out, it can be concluded that Instagram-based learning media products for Engineering Mechanics subjects in the Construction and Property Business area of SMK Negeri 3 Jombang are suitable for use.

Abstract

Background: The use of learning media is very influential in the learning process. In natural lighting calculation material, students usually use the Split Flux method, but the calculation is long because students have to provide a solar arc in the form of a printout on mica. So in this study, students will be divided into several groups to calculate natural lighting using an android-based lux meter. Methods: The approach used in this research is a quantitative approach, with an empiricist paradigm, and with a survey method. The survey was conducted on students who had taken the Building Physics course. The survey was conducted using an instrument. The instrument is an open and closed questionnaire. Results: The survey results show that (1) 73% of respondents chose the answer 51% to 75%, meaning that 73% of students understand the split flux method and 28% of respondents chose 75% to 100%, meaning that 28% of students understand the split flux method; (2) 78% stated that it was easier to use an android-based lux meter to measure natural lighting; (3) 79% stated that it was faster to use an android-based lux meter to measure natural lighting. Conclusion: By using an android-based lux meter, students can install it on their respective handphone, besides students are facilitated in measuring natural or artificial lighting and are not paid, besides that the process is faster and more flexible by using the help of android-based lux meter media in Building Physics courses, students become more interested in learning natural lighting measurements because they can easily take lighting measurements in a room.

Abstract

Background: The implementation of a workshop layout that is not following the 2010 ILO & IEA regulations can cause work accidents, hence the need for OHS implementation in woodworking workshops. The objectives of this research are: (1) to determine the suitability of the layout of the Woodworking Workshop of DPTSP UNY with the 2010 ILO & IEA regulations. (2) To determine the suitability of the K3 implementation of the woodworking workshop of DPTSP UNY with SNI 45001 2018.Methods: The research method used in this study is descriptive static with a percentage scale. This research was conducted at the Woodworking Workshop of DPTSP UNY with the research sample being lecturers, technicians, and students who were using the workshop. Data was collected using a questionnaire with a Guttman scale. Results: The study yielded the following data: (1) There is conformity between the layout of the Woodworking Workshop and the ILO & IEA regulations with an average of 78%. (2) There is conformity of K3 in the woodworking workshop with SNI 45001 with an average of 90%.Conclusion: The suitability of the layout of the woodworking workshop can facilitate the movement of woodwork with the availability of tools that are quite complete, and the layout of the equipment makes it easy for students to find tools, besides that the storage and maintenance of tools is very well maintained. The suitability of K3 in the woodworking workshop provides a high guarantee of safety if it is supported by the discipline of using the correct work procedures and adherence to procedures. In addition, the room with K3 standard criteria to create a safe, comfortable, and healthy environment in carrying out practical activities.
