Abstract

Animal feed is a crucial factor influencing animal productivity and health. Ensuring the availability of high-quality feed, both in terms of nutritional content and physical appearance, is essential. One way to improve the physical quality of feed is through the shredding process using a shredding machine. This study aimed to test the performance of the shredding machine in processing two types of animal feed: sedge grass and banana stems. The research method used an experimental approach with three repetitions, including measuring effective capacity, cutting uniformity, and percentage of material loss. The test results showed that the machine's effective capacity was more optimal for sedge grass, at 38 kg/hour, compared to 34 kg/hour for banana stems. The cutting uniformity values were relatively similar, at 80.2% for sedge grass and 80.0% for banana stems. The percentage of material loss for sedge grass was 2.6%, significantly lower than for banana stems, which reached 9.2%. This indicates that the machine is more efficient when used on soft, fine-fibered materials. Compared to previous studies, the machine's capacity in this study was still significantly lower due to limited motor power (500 watts) and a simple blade design. However, the machine is capable of producing uniform cuts and quite good efficiency, especially on the grass material.

Abstract

Wastewater at the Cirebon City Port Hospital that is not treated properly can cause environmental damage. In this case, technological advances are very rapidly developing in the manufacture of sophisticated tools, namely tools that can work automatically and have high precision. Therefore, in this study, we will conduct a prototype for monitoring the Wastewater Management Installation (WWTP), so hereby the author develops his research by directly applying the Wastewater Management Installation (WWTP) at Cirebon Port Hospital. In this prototype we used an esp 8266 microcontroller to read commands, a turbidity sensor to measure water turbidity, a DS18B20 sensor to measure the temperature of the water, a pH sensor to measure the acidity level of the water and an MIT App to read the output that is read by the sensor input that has been read by the firebase in real-time. The calibration results showed that all sensors were able to read the values with fairly good accuracy. The pH sensor shows an average accuracy of about 97.8%. The turbidity sensor shows an average accuracy of about 97.1%. The temperature sensor DS18B20 shows an average accuracy of about 97.7%. In the test results of the samples from the 4 readings in tubs 1 to 3, an error was shown because the results of the turbidity sensor reading were above 30 because the 1 to 3 tubs had not been filtered.

Abstract

The availability of clean water is a vital requirement in supporting mining operations, especially for bathing, washing, and toilet (MCK) purposes at Mess Rayeuk. To date, clean water supply is still entirely dependent on drilled wells, which causes problems such as high operational costs, dependence on groundwater, and environmental risks. This study aims to optimize the use of alternative water sources from Void Pit A through the implementation of a Water Treatment Plant (WTP) as an effort to reduce dependence on drilled wells. The research method uses the Quality Control Circle (QCC) approach with the PDCA (Plan–Do–Check–Action) model. Primary data were obtained from daily water usage records, flow meter monitoring results, and water quality tests in the laboratory, while secondary data came from operational cost reports and groundwater extraction permit documents. The results showed that after the WTP was operational, the use of drilled well water decreased by 57.12%, with the total clean water supply from the WTP reaching 1,089,000 liters in 15 days. In terms of costs, WTP is more efficient with savings of 22.9% compared to the use of drilled wells, and laboratory test results also ensure that the water processed by WTP meets all quality standard parameters according to Minister of Health Regulation No. 32 of 2017. In conclusion, the implementation of WTP has succeeded in increasing the availability of clean water, reducing operational costs, and reducing groundwater exploitation so that it not only provides economic and operational benefits, but also strengthens the company's commitment to supporting environmental sustainability.

Abstract

This research aims to test debt policy with economic and non-economic approaches and to test the Modigliani-Miller theory. This research uses a mixed method approach by first conducting interviews to obtain qualitative data, followed by quantitative data collection through surveys. The data are then analyzed using descriptive techniques and presented in tables to describe data on Debt Policy Studies with Economic and Non-Economic Approaches. The findings show that debt (UT) has a significant negative influence on the prosperity of the company (MK), indicated by a negative coefficient value. This aligns with the opinion of Modigliani and Miller (MM), who argue that companies can increase their value if they use as much debt as possible (in a tax situation), although this view invites criticism and objections from practitioners. However, one of these objections arises from the assumptions used by MM in their analysis. This demonstrates that the company must consider how to repay the debt, which is consistent with the Qur'an, Surah An-Nisa, verse 29, and highlights that debt has a significant effect on the company's profit. In line with this conclusion—that debt negatively influences the prosperity of the company, while also affecting the company's profit—it is expected that entrepreneurs continuously monitor and evaluate their business activities, particularly the way company management handles debt control.

Abstract

In carrying out duties in disaster areas, various factors affect the rescue actions of military medical personnel assisting victims. The government and relevant agencies must ensure legal protection for these personnel in performing their professional duties. This study examines the form of legal protection for military medical and health personnel assigned to disaster areas under the enactment of Law Number 17 of 2023 on Health, focusing on both criminal and civil law. Using a normative juridical approach, the analysis explores the application of relevant laws and the conceptual understanding of legal principles related to military medical practice. The findings show that military medical personnel must possess STR and SIP and are entitled to legal protection, as medical risks may arise even when procedures comply with established SOPs. If disputes occur in criminal or civil matters, patients may file complaints with the MDP. Subsequent proceedings include an examination, a public hearing, and recommendations by the MDP to the concerned personnel. Should any personnel be found at fault, they remain entitled to redress through both military and general judiciary channels, provided their actions adhered to professional service standards and that initial resolution efforts are pursued through alternative dispute mechanisms outside the court.

Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic has significantly impacted financial performance across all economic sectors, including ultra-micro Islamic banking institutions such as BTPN Syariah, which specializes in serving underprivileged productive communities. This study examines the differences in BTPN Syariah’s financial performance before (2017–2019) and during (2020–2022) the COVID-19 pandemic in Indonesia. Utilizing secondary data from monthly financial statements published by BTPN Syariah, this research employs a paired sample t-test analysis using SPSS software to compare six key financial performance indicators: Return on Assets (ROA), Return on Equity (ROE), Capital Adequacy Ratio (CAR), Operating Costs to Operating Income ratio (BOPO), Non-Performing Financing (NPF), and Financing to Deposit Ratio (FDR). The results indicate significant differences in banking financial performance between the pre-pandemic and pandemic periods, with CAR showing notable improvement due to a strategic Initial Public Offering (IPO), while ROA and ROE experienced temporary declines followed by gradual recovery. These findings contribute to understanding the resilience mechanisms of Islamic ultra-micro banking institutions during crisis periods and provide insights for policymakers and practitioners in developing countercyclical strategies for future economic disruptions.

Abstract

The thresher shark (Alopias pelagicus) is an apex predator that plays an important role in marine ecosystems, but its population continues to decline due to overexploitation and habitat degradation. This study analyzes the thresher shark conservation policy in the Alor Marine Conservation Area, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), and the role of local communities in supporting the conservation of this species. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, participant observation, and document analysis, then analyzed using qualitative methods. The results show that the conservation policy in the Alor MPA faces challenges in implementation, such as low community participation and limited monitoring resources. This study recommends a community-based approach to improve the effectiveness of thresher shark conservation in a sustainable manner.

Abstract

Venomous snakebite is a medical emergency commonly occurring in tropical regions and can lead to severe systemic complications, including Venom-Induced Consumption Coagulopathy (VICC). This condition is characterized by activation of the coagulation pathway by snake venom enzymes, leading to massive consumption of clotting factors. A 47-year-old male presented with severe pain, progressive swelling, and subcutaneous bleeding of the left lower limb following a suspected snakebite while working in a forest. Laboratory examination revealed an unmeasurably prolonged prothrombin time (>150 seconds), indicating severe coagulopathy. The suspected envenomation was caused by Trimeresurus insularis, a venomous pit viper endemic to East Nusa Tenggara, Indonesia. Due to the unavailability of antivenom, the patient was managed supportively with Fresh Frozen Plasma (FFP) transfusion and vitamin K before self-discharging against medical advice. This case highlights the critical importance of early recognition and timely antivenom administration in managing venomous snakebites. Without antivenom, the risk of life-threatening complications such as hemorrhage, organ failure, and death increases significantly. Equitable distribution of antivenom and enhanced education for healthcare providers and the community are essential to reducing snakebite-related morbidity and mortality in Indonesia.

Abstract

In the 21st century, the Internet has revolutionized advertising by providing businesses large and small alike unprecedented access to global audiences at lower costs and faster rates. However, this shift has also diminished advertisers’ monopoly over information, giving rise to a consumer-centric economy where users actively engage in evaluating and discussing product experiences online. This study aims to examine how online product reviews influence consumer perception and buying behavior. Employing a survey research design, data were collected through electronic questionnaires from a sample of 333 respondents, determined according to Phillip Meyer’s sampling recommendation. The results reveal that continuous online discussions and reviews significantly affect consumers’ purchasing decisions, as they tend to rely heavily on peer opinions before making a purchase. Negative reviews were found to reduce purchase intention, while positive feedback strengthened brand trust and loyalty. The study concludes that online product reviews play a crucial role in shaping consumer behavior in the digital marketplace. It implies that advertisers and product manufacturers must actively monitor, respond to, and integrate consumer feedback into product improvement strategies to foster positive perceptions and sustain competitiveness in an increasingly transparent digital environment.
