Abstract

Mosquito-borne diseases are still a public health problem. Mosquitoes of the Anophelini tribe (Anopheles sp) play a role in the transmission of malaria, while the Culicini tribe (Aedes sp) transmits dengue hemorrhagic fever (DHF). One of the safest larval control efforts is the use of biolarviccides, such as papaya plants (Carica papaya L.) which are more friendly to humans and the environment. The purpose of the study was to determine the effectiveness of papaya leaf juice as a biolarvicide against the mortality of Anopheles sp and Aedes sp mosquito larvae. Pseudo-experimental research type, Non-equivalent control group design. Samples of 400 larvae, consisting of 200 larvae of Anopheles sp and 200 larvae of Aedes sp instar III. The larvae were given a concentration of 10%, 20%, and 30% papaya leaves with 3 repetitions, observed for 24 hours. Data analysis was conducted using the One-Way ANOVA test and the Independent Sample t-test. The results of the study were the highest at a concentration of 30% of 90%, the lowest at a concentration of 10% of 40%. The mortality of Aedes sp larvae is highest at a concentration of 30% at 95%, lowest at a concentration of 10% at 50%. In conclusion, there was no difference in the effectiveness of papaya leaf juice as a biolarvicide on the mortality of Anopheles sp and Aedes sp mosquito larvae (p-value = 0.930). The public is advised to use papaya leaf juice biolarvicide, as an alternative to mosquito larval control that is more environmentally friendly.

Abstract

This study aimed to analyze the relationship between maternal knowledge and responsive feeding attitudes with the incidence of stunting among toddlers in the working area of the Kota Tengah Health Center, Gorontalo City. This research employed a quantitative method with a cross-sectional design. The population consisted of all mothers who had toddlers with growth disorders/stunting, totaling 105 individuals, with a sample of 83 respondents selected using purposive sampling . Data were analyzed using univariate and bivariate analysis with the Chi-Square test. The results showed that the majority of mothers had a low level of knowledge (59%) and negative attitudes toward responsive feeding practices (63.9%). Furthermore, the prevalence of stunting among toddlers was relatively high at 61.4% . Statistical analysis indicated a significant relationship between maternal knowledge and stunting incidence (p = 0.000), as well as between maternal attitudes and stunting incidence (p = 0.011), where both p-values were less than 0.05. In conclusion, maternal knowledge and attitudes toward responsive feeding play an important role in the incidence of stunting among toddlers. Therefore, continuous health education is needed to improve mothers’ understanding and promote positive attitudes toward responsive feeding practices in order to reduce stunting rates.

Abstract

Proximal humerus fractures are among the most common musculoskeletal injuries, particularly in elderly patients with decreased bone density. Open Reduction and Internal Fixation (ORIF) is a widely used surgical technique aimed at restoring anatomical alignment and achieving stable fixation. This study aimed to evaluate postoperative radiological outcomes of proximal humerus fractures treated with ORIF at H. Adam Malik Hospital, Medan. This research employed a descriptive observational design with a cross-sectional approach using retrospective data from medical records of patients treated between January 2021 and December 2024. A total of 25 patients who met the inclusion criteria were analyzed. Radiological parameters assessed included neck-shaft angle (NSA), humeral head height (HHH), medial offset (MO), medial hinge gap (MHG), and acromiohumeral interval (AHI). Measurements were conducted by two independent observers, and inter-observer reliability was evaluated using the Intraclass Correlation Coefficient (ICC). The results showed that the majority of patients were female (68%), with the largest age group being 18–49 years (44%). The inter-observer reliability demonstrated excellent agreement (ICC = 0.947). The mean values of radiological parameters were: NSA 127.83° ± 7.28°, HHH 8.87 ± 1.72 mm, MO 8.74 ± 2.97 mm, MHG 2.28 ± 0.73 mm, and AHI 7.60 ± 1.37 mm. These findings indicate that most parameters were within normal limits, although NSA tended toward mild varus alignment and MHG exceeded the ideal anatomical threshold. In conclusion, postoperative radiological outcomes of proximal humerus fractures treated with ORIF generally showed acceptable alignment and fixation stability. However, attention to medial support restoration is necessary to prevent complications such as varus collapse. Radiological evaluation remains essential for assessing surgical success and predicting functional outcomes.

Abstract

Hospitals are one of the means of health services that are expected to provide the best service for individuals and the community in accordance with the vision and mission set. This study aims to identify the influence of clinical leadership of the head of the room on nurse satisfaction at Toto Kabila Hospital. This study uses a correlational approach with a cross-sectional design. The population in this study is all implementing nurses in the internal room of Toto Kabila Hospital with a non-probability sampling technique of total sampling method, so that the total sample number is 36 people. Data analysis used chi-square statistical tests. The results showed that as many as 30 respondents (84.2%) were in the good category of clinical leadership and 6 respondents (15.8%) were in the adequate category. Nurse satisfaction is measured based on five dimensions, namely reward and support, supervisor communication, division of duties, work environment, and self-development opportunities. The results of the satisfaction assessment showed that as many as 31 respondents (86.8%) were in the satisfied category and 5 respondents (13.2%) were in the dissatisfied category. The results of the chi-square test analysis showed a value of p=0.000 < (0.05). The conclusion of this study is that there is an influence of the clinical leadership of the head of the room on the satisfaction of nurses in the Internal Room of Toto Kabila Hospital. It is hoped that this research can be the basis for hospitals to design policies or programs that focus on developing clinical leadership for room heads.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to determine the implementation of the policy of the Minister of Home Affairs No. 70 of 2019 concerning the Regional Government Information System (SIPD) at the Bone Bolango Regency Health Office. This study uses a qualitative research method with a descriptive approach. Data collection techniques use observation, interviews and documentation studies. The indicators used in this study have 4 aspects, namely 1) communication, 2) resources, 3) disposition, and 4) organizational structure. The results of the study show that the implementation of SIPD has not been optimal. This is due to several factors, including the limitation of competent human resources in the field of information technology, lack of technical training, internet network constraints, and lack of maximum support for facilities and infrastructure. In addition, coordination between work units also needs to be improved to support better data integration. Therefore, the government must improve infrastructure to support the implementation of policies, such as strengthening the SIPD network and servers. Then conduct training on human resources and improve facilities and infrastructure.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the communication strategy of the village government in the empowerment of the coffee farmer community in Tanjung Beringin Village, South Merapi District, Lahat Regency, and identify communication obstacles faced in its implementation. This study uses a qualitative approach with a descriptive method. Data collection techniques were carried out through in-depth interviews with key informants, field observations, and documentation. The results of the study show that the village government implements various communication strategies, namely interpersonal communication (face-to-face), communication through the media (WhatsApp), participatory communication, extension communication (educational), plot demonstration (demonstration plot), and communication based on local culture. Of all these strategies, face-to-face communication is the most dominant and effective because it is able to adapt to the characteristics of the farming community. Meanwhile, the use of digital media serves as a support in the dissemination of information. Participatory communication strategies, counseling, and plot demonstrations have been proven to be able to increase farmers' understanding, skills, and trust in the innovations provided. However, in its implementation, there are still various communication barriers, such as obstacles in message delivery, physical obstacles, low community participation, resistance to change, and cultural and customary barriers. Therefore, a more adaptive, participatory, and in accordance with the socio-cultural conditions of the community is needed so that the empowerment process can run more optimally.
