Abstract

This study was motivated by the low learning outcomes of fifth, grade students in science subjects at SD Negeri 83 Gresik, particularly in the theme "Heat and Its Transfer" and the subtheme "The Effect of Heat on Life." One of the contributing factors is the use of conventional teaching methods that fail to actively engage students. Therefore, this research aims to examine the effectiveness of the mind mapping method in improving student learning outcomes. The research employed a Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK) design conducted in one cycle, involving 15 fifth, grade students as research subjects. Data collection techniques included observation of teacher and student activities, learning outcome tests, and documentation. The findings reveal a significant improvement in student learning outcomes following the implementation of the mind mapping method, with the average score increasing from below the Minimum Mastery Criteria (KKM) to an average of 90. Student learning activity also showed a marked increase, with 87% of students participating actively during the learning process. Observations of teacher activities yielded a score of 90%, indicating the teacher's effective classroom management using this method. The study concludes that the use of mind mapping is proven to be effective in enhancing students' learning outcomes and promoting active engagement during science learning. Additionally, this method fosters a more interactive, enjoyable classroom atmosphere and encourages students to think critically and creatively. Hence, the mind mapping method is highly recommended for science instruction as well as other subjects in primary education.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the influence of social media on changes in local cultural values of Sipakatau, Sipakalebbi, and Sipakainge' in the lives of Bulukumba urban communities in the digital era. This research uses a quantitative approach with data collection techniques through distributing a five-point Likert scale questionnaire to 25 respondents who live in urban areas and actively use social media. The data were analyzed descriptively quantitatively based on the score and percentage of each indicator. The results showed that the use of social media is high, with most respondents using it daily. Despite this, local cultural values are still relatively strongly maintained. The Sipakatau value scored 88%, indicating that respondents still respect differences of opinion and maintain communication ethics on social media. The value of Sipakalebbi scored the highest (average 95.2%), indicating strong respect for elders in the digital context. The value of Sipakainge' is also high with an average of 80.2%, which means that social media is still used as a means of reminding each other in kindness. However, the aspect of changing cultural values shows a tendency to shift, with scores of 73.6% and 78.4% on indicators related to the fading of manners. Thus, it can be concluded that social media has a significant influence on the preservation as well as the shift of local cultural values of the Perk community.

Abstract

The public's selection of generic drugs is still often influenced by negative perceptions regarding their quality and effectiveness compared to branded drugs. In fact, pharmacologically, generic drugs contain the same active ingredients and are more affordable. This study aims to analyze the factors influencing the selection of generic drugs at Karangaji Pharmacy, Kedung Subdistrict, Jepara Regency. The research employed a quantitative approach with a descriptive-analytic design and a cross-sectional method. A sample of 96 respondents was determined using the Slovin formula from a population of 2,260 patients. The research instrument was a Likert scale questionnaire covering four independent variables: price, quality, socio-cultural factors, and recommendations from pharmaceutical personnel. Data analysis was conducted using the Chi-Square test, independent sample t-test, and Pearson correlation through SPSS. The results showed that socio-cultural factors were the most dominant in influencing the selection of generic drugs, as proven significant in the t-test (p < 0.001) and Pearson correlation (p = 0.012). Recommendations from pharmaceutical personnel also had a significant effect (p = 0.014). Price was only significant in the t-test (p = 0.040), while quality did not show a significant effect in any of the statistical tests. In conclusion, the public’s decision to choose generic drugs is more strongly influenced by social aspects and educational support from pharmaceutical personnel rather than price or perceived quality. Therefore, effective public education and community-based approaches are necessary to increase the rational acceptance and use of generic drugs in the community.

Abstract

Primary dysmenorrhea is a complaint of menstrual pain that often occurs in women of productive age, especially among female students, which can disrupt daily activities. One of the non-pharmacological methods that can be used to reduce dysmenorrhea symptoms is regular exercise. Less active exercise habits are one of the risk factors, while regular exercise has been proven effective in reducing pain through increased endorphins and blood flow. Objective: This study aims to analyze the relationship between exercise habits and the severity of primary dysmenorrhea among the 2021 cohort of female students at the Faculty of Medicine, Baiturrahmah University. Method: This study used an observational analytic design with a cross-sectional approach on 68 respondents selected through consecutive sampling. Data were collected using the Numeric Rating Scale (NRS) pain intensity questionnaire and the Godin-Shepard Leisure-Time Physical Activity Questionnaire. Results: The research findings indicate that the majority of respondents have less active exercise habits (69.1%), with 45.6% of respondents experiencing severe dysmenorrhea pain. Bivariate analysis shows a significant relationship between exercise habits and the intensity of primary dysmenorrhea (p-value = 0.000). Female students who regularly engage in exercise have a lower level of pain compared to those who are less active. Conclusion: This study concludes that exercise habits play an important role in reducing primary dysmenorrhea symptoms. Therefore, it is important for female students to maintain a regular exercise routine to improve their quality of life. This research also recommends the development of structured exercise programs to reduce the risk of primary dysmenorrhea.

Abstract

Contact dermatitis is one of the skin diseases that often occurs in workers due to exposure to irritants or allergens in the workplace. Risk factors such as age, length of service, length of contact, history of atopy, personal hygiene, and use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) play an important role in the occurrence of contact dermatitis. Analyzing the relationship between risk factors and the occurrence of contact dermatitis in workers. Methods: An observational study was conducted on 66 workers with secondary data analysis from the master table. The variables studied included age, gender, length of service, length of contact, history of atopy, personal hygiene, and use of PPE. Most workers with contact dermatitis were ≥30 years old (78.8%), had a length of service ≥2 years (89.4%), and did not use PPE according to standards (77.3%). A positive history of atopy was found in 28.8% of cases. The use of PPE that did not meet standards, age ≥30 years, and length of service ≥2 years were the dominant factors contributing to contact dermatitis. Interventions in the form of training in the use of PPE and regular monitoring of worker health are needed.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine whether there was an increase in students' mathematical problem solving abilities with the application of the cooperative model of the generative learning type. The type of research is quantitative research with a quasi-experimental method and the design used is pre-experimental. The research sample was students of SMP swasta Bina Sejahtera. Based on the results of the t-test, the t count value = 2.467 and the t-table value = 2.04227 with an α value = 0.05. Then the t count > t table is obtained, namely 2.467> 2.04227, so H0 is rejected. This means that the application of the generative learning model is effective based on the average posttest value of students' mathematical problem solving abilities in social arithmetic material.
