Abstract

The objective of this study is to characterize benthic substrate of Bonetambung reef area using worldview 2 highresolution satellite imagery. About 14.273 depth spot were deploy to build bathimetric model of the study area. The correlation of pixel radiance value from satellite imagery and depth value from field measurement werebecame the basis to classify geomorphologic zone of shallow water area up to 7 meter depth. Between threeinterpolator tested, the natural neighbor interpolator has produced the best bathymetric model with root meansquare error 0.3 meter and benthic substrate coverage model with thematic accuracy 62%. These approach beable to recognize four substrate type in general, such as sand, seagrass, rubble and coral. Geomorphicsegmentation based on bathymetric profile and radiance value of worldview 2 imagery may also maps the reefflat, reef slope and lagoon area hence may support the benthic substrate modeling. This study showed us apotential technic to develop a modelling for juvenile fish transport at Bonetambung coral waters.Key words: benthic substrate bathymetry, worldview imagery, thematic accuracy

Abstract

Fisheries management requires reliable estimation and can be made as a consequence of the alternatives strategyexploitation, it requires knowledge about the biological condition of the fish stocks at a certain time, one of them is agrouper (Plectropomus leopardus). The aims of this study is to analyze the biological diversity includes the averagetotal length, size structure and weight-length relationship of groupers (Plectropomus leopardus) in SpermondeIslands. The results are expected to provide information on sustainable resource management in SpermondeArchipelago. The study was conducted from July 2013- February 2014 in three locations of Spermondearchipelago, namely Sarappo Island, LumulumuIsland and LangkaiIsland using primary data. Research methodssuch as measurement of total length and weight of the grouper Sunufish from the catch of fishermen and traders ineach collection area. The average of the total length, the size structure and weight length relationships wereanalyzed descriptively,The analysis results of the average total length of the grouper (P. leopardus) caught inSarappo Island, Lumulumu Island and Langkai Island respectively 29.84 ± 8.6 cm (N = 624), 31.93 ± 8.03 cm ( N =291), 34.64 ± 7.41 cm (N = 214) where the nearer them to the mainland, the smaller averagetotal length is. The sizedistribution of grouper sunu (P. leopardus) in the Sarappo island and Lumulumu island are most of the small sizewhich is 22.5 cm by 35.63% and 22.68%, and on the Langkai island the most caught fishes size are 37.5 cm by 31,77%. Weight-length relationship on the three islands are minor allometric,Keywords: total length, structure size, weight length relationship, grouper Spermonde Archipelago

Abstract

Mangrove reforestation is often carried out in various regions or regions, but information about the relationship of environmental factors and the distribution of fauna associations is still very minimal. The Principal Component Analysis (PCA) study on the correlation of environmental factors and the spatial distribution of the molusks community in the Seribu Islands mangrove reforestation area was conducted in March 2014 with the aim of analyzing environmental factors for the diversity and presence of the molusks. Environmental factors are measured insecurely, while the moluccan community is collected by making line transects and plots measuring 10 x 10 m2 and in the size of 10 x 10 m2, a small plot of 1 x 1 m2 is made. The results of the study show that environmental factors are not so different between stations and do not exceed the quality standard for the lives of 4 species of mollusks, where the parameters of aquatic pH are the environmental factors that most influence their distribution. Keywords: environmental factors, distribution, mollusks community, mangrove reforestation, Seribu Islands

Abstract

This study aimed to investigate the relationship between the dinamic oceanographic condition and fluctuation in the catch of small pelagic fish. Study on the dinamic oceanographic conditions were focused on the sea surface temperature (SST), chlorophyll-a concentration (SSC) and water depth. The study took place in the area of Gulf of Bone located, data collection was started from April to September 2017. The data were collected using experimental fishing metode (large liftnet) and applications of remote sensing in satellite oceanography, which then analysed using Geographic Information System (GIS) dan Generalized Additive Models (GAMs). The result showed that the distribution of small pelagic fish tends to be within the area of temperature ranging from 29.5 to 30.0oC, the chlorophyll-a from 0.7 to 0.9 mg.m-3 and concentrated within the coastal area with in waters depth maximum of 100 m.Keywords: Oceanography, small pelagic fish, distribution, fishing ground, Gulf of Bone

Abstract

Fertilization and larval development determine the coral population survivalof species, which has adifference characteristic of embryogenesis. This research wasaimed to compare the embryo and larvaldevelopment spawned in November 2011 in Grear Barrier Reef, Australia.Embryonic cellsdevelopment wereobserved in interval timesfrom one cell of egg tomulticellular stage (prawnchip), and larval developmentobserved from the prawnchip stageto the planulae. The results showed the development of embryos and larvaesignificantly differed between two species, i.e. embryos and larvae of Acropora millepora grew faster thanA.tenuis. The maximum size of planulae larvae of A. millepora (800-1000 μm) is biggerthan A. tenuis (650-900μm). Embryo and larvae development were different due to species variability, hence this reseach can beadapted for laboratory proccess of coral larvae nursery. Abstract

Blue Spotted Ray (Dasyatis kuhlii) as the demersal organisms has a lot of accumulation of pollutants in the water that settles to the bottom. This study was conducted to look at the liver tissue alteration of Blue Spotted Ray caused by contamination of mercury (Hg). Performed on 5 tanks. Tank A as a control, tank B with concentration 0.025  ppm,  tank  C  with  concentration  of  0.05  ppm,  tank  D  with concentration  0.1  ppm  and  tanks  E  with concentration  0.2  ppm.  The  result  is  alteration  on  the  liver  tissue  in  the  form  of  atrophy,  cloudy  swelling, vacuolization degeneration and even necrosis or death of liver tissue already. The alteration can reduce and eveneliminate the function of the liver as a toxin absorbent and can lead to death.
