Abstract

Online games, which are popular among teenagers, may lead to a lifestyle that increases the risk of hypertension. Lack of knowledge and appropriate attitudes regarding the negative effects of online games is a major concern. This study aims to evaluate the effect of education on increasing adolescents' knowledge and attitudes about risk factors for hypertension due to the effects of online games in high schools in Semarang City. The research design used was a quasi-experimental with two groups (intervention and control), each of which was given a pre-test and post-test. The sample consisted of 227 students from SMA Teuku Umar and MA Husnul Khatimah who were selected using non-probability sampling. Data were collected through questionnaires and analyzed using paired t-test, Wilcoxon and Mann-Whitney tests. The results showed a significant increase in knowledge in the intervention group from an average of 10.80 to 15.00, while attitudes increased from an average of 60.79 to 64.21, but were not significantly different from the control group. This study concluded that there was a significant difference between the knowledge scores of the intervention group and the control group after education. However, there was no significant difference in attitude scores between the two groups after the intervention.

Abstract

Excessive intake of high sugar in childhood and adolescence can increase the risk of cardiovascular disease and other chronic diseases. This study aims to determine the picture of the intake of high sugar drinks and the academic achievement of junior high school students. This type of research uses a cross-sectional survey conducted in April - August 2024. The data source in the study was primary data with 371 respondents of junior high school children aged 12-15 years in Jayapura City using the Multistage random sampling technique. Data analysis is using the chi-square test. The intake of high-sugar drinks in adolescents is mostly in the rare category (57.1%), and academic achievement is mostly in the moderate category (76.0%). There is a significant relationship between high sugar-drinks intake and academic achievement. The picture of high sugar drinks intake among junior high school children in Jayapura City is rare, however, with 43% of junior high school students often consuming high sugar drinks, it is hoped that schools will initiate activities that encourage teenagers to limit their high sugar drinks intake by providing healthy canteens at school, as well as encouraging parents of students to jointly restrict their consumption of high sugar drinks.

Abstract

Pregnancy is a period during which the body's immune function declines due to hormonal changes when pregnant, especially in cases of overweight or obesity, which also increases the risk of experiencing hot flashes. Hot flashes are normal symptoms but still require immediate management. Tempeh is a traditional Indonesian food made from soybeans that is rich in isoflavones. The aim of this research is to determine the effect of steamed tempeh consumption on the management of hot flashes in pregnant women in their third trimester at the Antang Public Health Center in 2024. The type of research used is quantitative research with a pre-experimental design, one group pre-test – post-test. The number of respondents in this study is 36 respondents. The technique used is purposive sampling. The statistical test results using the Wilcoxon signed-rank test show a p value of (0.000), which is less than 0.05 (p < α). The consumption of steamed tempeh affects the management of hot flushes in pregnant women in the third trimester in the working area of the Antang Health Center.

Abstract

Treatment adherence is a major challenge in controlling Pulmonary Tuberculosis (TB). Family support is believed to be a key factor, yet the specific roles of different support dimensions within unique socio-economic contexts like Papua are not well understood. The aim of this study is to analyze the relationship between family support dimensions and medication adherence among Pulmonary TB patients in the working area of Sentani Kota Health Center. This study employed an analytical survey design with a cross-sectional approach. The sample consisted of 79 Pulmonary TB patients selected from a population of 97 through convenience sampling based on willingness to participate. Data on the relationship between family support (emotional, appraisal, informational, instrumental) and medication adherence were analyzed using the chi-square test. Medication adherence was very high (91.1%). No statistically significant relationship was found between overall family support and medication adherence (p = 1.000). However, sub-variable analysis revealed a sharp disparity: emotional (67% good) and appraisal (66% good) support were high, while informational (51% poor) and especially instrumental (97% poor) support were very low. In this highly adherent patient cohort, general family support was not a differentiating factor for adherence, however a critical deficit in informational and instrumental support was identified.

Abstract

The high maternal mortality rate can be caused by anemia during pregnancy, one contributing factor being irregular Antenatal Care (ANC) visits. This study aims to examine the relationship between the regularity of ANC visits and the risk of anemia in pregnant women at M. Thaha Public Health Center, South Bengkulu. This research employed an analytic survey with a case-control design. Data were obtained from secondary sources with a total sample of 48 respondents. Data were analyzed using univariate and bivariate analysis with the chi-square test, Contingency Coefficient (C), and Odds Ratio (OR). The univariate analysis showed that 20 pregnant women had irregular ANC visits and 24 experienced anemia. The bivariate analysis revealed a moderate relationship between ANC visit regularity and the risk of anemia, with an OR value of 4.2. This indicates that pregnant women with irregular ANC visits are 4.2 times more likely to develop anemia compared to those with regular visits. It is recommended that the health center improve maternal health services by enhancing access to maternal posyandu services and conducting regular hemoglobin (Hb) examinations to detect and control anemia at an early stage.

Abstract

Anemia is a condition in which the hemoglobin level in the blood is below normal. During pregnancy, the need for iron and other nutrients increases significantly to support fetal growth and physiological changes in the mother. Therefore, pregnant women are very susceptible to anemia if nutritional intake is insufficient or there is impaired nutrient absorption. The prevalence of anemia in pregnant women is quite high in various regions, and this condition can have serious impacts on the health of the mother and fetus. Anemia can increase the risk of pregnancy complications such as premature birth, low birth weight, and maternal and neonatal death. In addition, anemia can also cause fatigue, decreased immunity, and impaired cognitive development in children after birth. To determine the relationship between nutritional status (BMI and LILA) and anemia in pregnant women. Quantitative research design with analytical survey with a cross-sectional approach, a population of 34 people with a sample of 34 people or total sampling. The results of the study showed that most BMI was in the abnormal category of 25 people with a P value of 0.033 <0.05 and LILA was in the category of £ 23.5 cm of 28 people with a P value of 0.021 <0.05. There is a relationship between nutritional status of BMI and LILA with anemia in pregnant women in the working area of the Gorontalo Regency Health Center.

Abstract

The incidence of stunting in Boneatiro Village is quite high, with 36 reported cases. One of the contributing factors to stunting in the village is the low rate of exclusive breastfeeding, which remains below 50%. Optimal breast milk production is crucial to the success of exclusive breastfeeding during the first six months of an infant’s life. One effort to increase breast milk production is through the consumption of natural lactagogue foods, such as banana blossoms. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of local food–based education using banana blossoms in improving maternal knowledge in Boneatiro Village in 2025. This research is a quantitative study with a pre-experimental design using a one-group pretest–posttest approach. This method aims to measure changes in maternal knowledge before and after receiving nutrition education based on local food (banana blossoms), with a sample of 100 women of reproductive age selected using purposive sampling. The results, analyzed using the Wilcoxon test, showed a p-value of 0.002 (<0.05), indicating a significant difference in maternal knowledge before and after the education intervention. It is recommended that future studies involve a larger population, assess the impact of education on dietary behavior, and monitor the long-term effects on nutritional status and child growth.
