Abstract

Objective: The primary objective of this study is to investigate the development of physics learning tools by comparing the forms of digital and conventional media, along with their respective impacts. Method: The employed methodology involves a comprehensive literature review, defined as an inquiry into scholarly articles, books, and other sources related to the issue, research field, or specific theory. Literature review is characterized by providing a general overview, summarization, and evaluation of scholarly works. The research method encompasses multiple steps, including: (1) Identifying topics related to Assessment as Learning and metacognitive skills. (2) Searching and selecting relevant articles through Scopus and Google Scholar. (3) Analyzing and synthesizing literature. (4) Organizing the text. Results: The findings reveal the existence of 40 journals elucidating on physics learning media, encompassing both digital and conventional forms. Commonly utilized digital learning media include Adobe Flash, websites, e-modules, and interactive tools. Digital learning media is evaluated to enhance student learning outcomes and understanding. It enables students to perceive, hear, and interact with the material dynamically, thereby triggering a deeper understanding. The effectiveness of learning media has been substantiated to improve students’ comprehension of physics and also heighten their interest in the subject matter. Novelty: This research offers insights into designing interactive and modern learning media to enhance students’ understanding and learning outcomes in physics, contributing to the achievement of educational objectives.

Abstract

Objective: Understanding lines and angles serves as the foundation for further mathematical topics such as trigonometry, geometry, calculus, etc. Students may struggle with advanced mathematical reasoning and problem-solving without a firm grasp of these basic concepts. This study aims to investigate how students' mathematical understanding processes are based on the folding back theory. Method: The research utilizes a qualitative approach with descriptive eksploratif design. Two subjects were selected from 28 seventh-grade students, each representing the field-dependent and field-independent cognitive style. Data was collected through mathematical comprehension tests, GEFT tests, and interviews. Data were analyzed through data reduction, data presentation, and verification stages, with each subject being interviewed to verify the processes. Results: Based on the research results, students in the field-independent cognitive style were much more active and better understood the problem-solving process than those in the field-dependent. However, both subjects still required learning assistance. Novelty: This research explores the folding back theory in the mathematical understanding process based on cognitive styles, whereas previous studies have mainly focused on mathematical comprehension abilities. Therefore, further research would benefit from using instructional media to better engage students in understanding the material.

Abstract

Objective: This study aims to describe and analyze the acceptance of Universitas Terbuka (UT) students in using the Microsoft Teams and Learning Management System (LMS) applications for the Webinar Tutorial (Tuweb) during the COVID-19 pandemic. Method: This research used an explanatory approach. The population of this study was 4000 students of the Distance Learning Program Unit (UPBJJ) at Universitas Terbuka Semarang. Meanwhile, the research sample was 1600 students in Rembang, Blora, Pati, Kudus, Jepara, Demak, Semarang, Kendal, Kaliwungu, and Pekalongan teaching units. The data was collected through questionnaires, interviews, and documentation. Results: The results showed that the acceptance of Universitas Terbuka students in using the Microsoft Teams application for Tuweb obtained an average of 82.76 in the accepted category, with a contribution of 63.50%. In comparison, student acceptance using the LMS application obtained an average of 81.58 in the accepted category, with a contribution of 80.40% from other dimensions. Novelty: The result showed that the students' acceptance of using Tuweb, both Microsoft Teams or LMS applications, indicates that these learning aids can be used as an alternative for teaching and learning besides face-to-face meetings.

Abstract

Objective: The study aims to investigate the interplay between formal and non-formal education and their cumulative impact on the character development of Minke, a central figure in Pramoedya Ananta Toer’s Buru Tetralogy. Method: Drawing upon a comprehensive analysis of the tetralogy, the research meticulously examines Minke's educational experiences within and outside the institutionalized academic framework. By categorizing and evaluating his cognitive skills, linguistic proficiencies, and cultural identities acquired through formal education, juxtaposed with his extracurricular engagements and interactions outside the school, the study provided a nuanced portrayal of Minke's holistic learning journey. Results: The findings underscore the pivotal role of both formal and non-formal educational paradigms in shaping Minke's multifaceted persona. While formal education endows Minke with foundational skills and introduces him to European intellectual traditions, non-formal experiences enrich his character by exposing him to diverse societal challenges, fostering critical thinking, and nurturing a voice against colonial oppression. The synergistic integration of these educational modalities emerges as instrumental in molding Minke into a discerning, empathetic, and critically astute individual, distinctively depicted across the tetralogical narratives. Novelty: Contrary to prior singular emphases on formal or non-formal education, this research presents a holistic exploration that underscores the complementary nature of both educational realms in character development. The nuanced analysis provides fresh insights into the transformative potential of integrating diverse educational experiences, emphasizing their collective influence on individual and societal narratives as depicted in literary representations.

Abstract

Objective: Technopreneur behavior refers to the traits, attitudes, and actions of an individual or group involved in technology-based entrepreneurship. Technopreneur is a combination of the word’s "technology" and "entrepreneurship," and encompasses the application of technology and innovation in a business context. The purpose of this study is to develop an instrument that can measure the technopreneur behavior of Vocational High School Fashion School students. Method: This research is a development research with a 4D model, namely Define, Design, Development, and Development. Instrument was tested on 30 students of Vocational High School 3 Kediri. Results: The results of the study stated that based on the CVR, correlation-total, OMS, and IMS criteria, there were 2 items that did not meet so that these items had to be revised or discarded, while other items were declared to meet the criteria. And the results of the instrument trial stated that 3.33% of students had techopreneur behavior in the "high distinction" category, 83.3% in the "Distinction" category, and 13.3% in the "Credit" category. Novelty: This research presents novelty by designing a unique instrument that focuses on the technopreneur behavior of VHS Tata Busana students. This innovative approach includes the integration of technological and entrepreneurial aspects, active stakeholder participation, the application of revolutionary learning models, and adaptation to the latest technological developments.

Abstract

Objective: Competence is an individual's ability to do a job adequately and appropriately. Competence is needed in the field of work. Future vehicles are currently heading towards electric-based vehicles. Therefore, graduates who have competence, especially in electricity, are needed. Valid and accurate measuring instruments are needed to determine a person's competence. Therefore, in this study, instruments were developed to measure student competence in automotive electricity. Method: The research method used is a development study using a 4D model consisting of four phases: Defining, Designing, Developing, and Disseminating. The finished instrument is validated and tested to see its validity and reliability. Results: This study obtained automotive electrical competency instruments in 3 instruments, namely to measure knowledge, skills, and attitudes. There is 1 question item that must be dropped because the CVR value and correlation test items are below 0.3, and the outfit and infit values are above 2. No question items are dropped for instruments, indicators, attitudes, and skills. All automotive electrical competency instruments produce reliable instruments. Novelty: a unique instrument that focuses on automotive electrical competence. This approach includes knowledge, skills, and attitudes towards technological developments.

Abstract

Objective: This study aims to improve individual innovative behavior and learning outcomes and determine differences in individual innovative behavior and student learning outcomes after being taught with Project_Based Blended Learning synchronous and asynchronous online models followed by face-to-face offline models in the post-COVID-19 era. Method: The research used a quasi-experiment; the control class samples were 33, and the experimental class was 33 students. Data were collected using questionnaires, test instruments, and observation sheets, and the collected data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, gain tests, and t-tests. Result: The increase in individual innovative behavior and learning outcomes before and after teaching in the control class in the moderately effective category is lower and significantly different compared to the experimental class in the practical category. The final score of individual innovative behavior and learning outcomes of the control class is lower and significantly different than that of the experimental class. Novelty: Blended Learning in this research is integrated with Project-Based Learning with synchronous and asynchronous online models to produce project products assigned to be used in practical courses.

Abstract

Objective: This research aims to determine the correlation between self-management and academic stress among undergraduate students of the Faculty of Psychology at Satya Wacana Christian University. Method: The method used in this research is a quantitative method with a correlational design. The population in this study consists of 1238 active undergraduate students of the Faculty of Psychology at Satya Wacana Christian University. Meanwhile, 147 active undergraduate students of the Faculty of Psychology at Satya Wacana Christian University were used as research participants. The sampling technique employed is simple random sampling. Result: The research findings indicate a relationship between self-management and academic stress among undergraduate students of the Faculty of Psychology at SWCU. This suggests that high self-management among students is associated with low academic stress experienced by students of the Faculty of Psychology at SWCU. Conversely, low self-management among students is also associated with high academic stress experienced by students of the Faculty of Psychology at SWCU. Novelty: This research was selected because of its high relevance for psychology scholars. Understanding and maintaining mental health is crucial for them so that in the future, they can effectively assist others and optimize the psychological knowledge acquired during their studies.

Abstract

Objective: This study aims to determine the guided inquiry learning model's effectiveness in improving students' scientific literacy skills. Method: This is an experimental research with a one-group pretest-posttest design without using a control class. Results: The research results show that applying the guided inquiry learning model significantly increases students' scientific literacy. Data were analyzed using descriptive methods. Evaluation of the learning plan shows a good feasibility level in its implementation. Student learning outcomes have increased significantly, including understanding of science concepts and scientific skills. Most students progress positively in reading, understanding, and analyzing scientific information. These findings are strengthened by direct observations of students' active participation and involvement during learning. Thus, using the guided inquiry learning model positively contributes to increasing students' scientific literacy. Novelty: The novelty of this research lies in its new contribution to increasing scientific literacy by applying the guided inquiry learning model. The positive response from students to this learning model emphasizes its relevance in advancing scientific literacy. These findings show that the practical use of the guided inquiry model can improve students' understanding of concepts and scientific skills. Integrating this learning model into the learning context adds essential value to science education. The research results confirm that the effective use of the guided inquiry model can increase students' scientific literacy, making a significant contribution to preparing them to face future scientific challenges.

Abstract

Objective: To develop learning in traditional Muslim schools, this research describes the conditions of learning that develop among traditional Muslim schools; this research aims to reveal, analyze, and find the main ideas of learning theory based on the self-regulation ability of traditional Muslim school students. Method: This research uses a qualitative approach, while this type of research is phenomenological. Determination of informants in this study using purposive sampling were selected as informants in this study were 15 students; in this case, students were interviewed using SRLIS. Data were collected through interviews, direct observation, diaries, video recordings, photography, and artifact analysis. Results: The results of this study show that students' self-regulation abilities in traditional Muslim schools are more group-based. They use the community to develop themselves; group self-regulation skills are dominant among traditional Muslim school students. Novelty: This research shows the self-regulation of traditional Muslim School Students as actors for themselves. The way they learn is through group self-regulation. So, what is new from this research is Group-Based Self-Regulation.
