Abstract

This descriptive quantitative study aimed to identify the relationship between disaster literacy and the disaster response performance of public health nurses in various health institutions in Davao City. The research utilized a self-designed questionnaire survey, with participants providing details on their sex and years of experience. The survey comprised 10 questions assessing disaster literacy and 7 questions evaluating disaster response performance. Statistical analyses including Mann-Whitney U and Spearman were employed. Results showed a mean disaster literacy level of 3.91, categorized as high. However, no statistically significant relationship was found between disaster literacy and nurses' disaster response performance, regardless of sex and years of experience. Although a slight correlation of 0.135 between disaster literacy and performance was observed, it was not statistically significant (p=0.100), as indicated by the scatter plot analysis. Based on the findings of this study, researchers have devised disaster strategies. These strategies aim to equip all public health nurses to effectively respond to disasters, regardless of sex, experience, or prior knowledge. It involves creating a standardized disaster preparedness and response plan, conducting regular drills covering various scenarios, implementing ongoing education courses, and assigning roles based on skills rather than sex or experience, with clear documentation of responsibilities.

Abstract

Video media offers a novel way of learning. With its flexible learning features, such as options for review and accessibility anywhere, in-dividual learning needs are better met. This is advantageous when employed in a flipped learning setup for mathematics instruction, where learners need a significant amount of time to master a lesson. This developmental research design sought to develop flexible learning of instruction through progressive, personalized, engaging, and diversified (FLIPPED) video media as instructional materials for the least learned competencies in Grade 5 Mathematics, focusing on its application within a flipped classroom paradigm. The study em-ployed a competency-based assessment tool (CBAT) in Mathematics and a researcher-made evaluation form for the acceptability of the developed video media as its primary instrument. Findings highlight specific areas of challenges in Mathematics 5, such as formulating rules for sequence progression, visualizing fraction multiplication, estimating decimal products, identifying base, rate, and percentage, and finding the circumference of a circle. Utilizing the IPO model, the video media was meticulously developed to offer flexible learning that can improve mathematics achievement. The video media was rated as “highly acceptable” in terms of its flexible learning, progres-sive instruction, personalized instruction, learners’ engagement, and diversified instruction. The research findings conclude the efficacy of FLIPPED Video Media in addressing learning gaps and fostering a conducive learning environment that caters to diverse learning needs. The developed video media represents a paradigm shift in education, showcasing the transformative power of technology to enhance teaching and learning outcomes.

Abstract

This research examines the factors influencing student satisfaction with the services offered by the Office of Student Affairs and Services (OSAS) at Cebu Technological University - Argao Campus. The study gathered data from 242 students using a survey questionnaire and used Ordinary Least Squares (OLS) model analysis to measure the impact of personnel competency and professionalism, service experience and interaction, and service commitment and environmental factors on overall satisfaction. The findings emphasize the significance of having knowledgeable, competent, and compassionate staff, as they suggest that personnel competency and professionalism greatly influences student satisfaction. The result also stresses the importance of service experience and interaction, indicating that higher education institutions should prioritize being responsive to student inquiries, providing a safe campus environment, and promoting open communication with students. Additionally, the study highlights the importance of environmental factors and service commitment, arguing that improving student satisfaction requires operational enhancements such as quicker service, easy navigation, and facility maintenance. Addressing these issues could lead to higher satisfaction levels, aligning with the university's goal of creating a welcoming and engaging learning environment

Abstract

Teaching is a rewarding yet demanding profession. While it brings immense joy when teachers experience fulfillment from achieving their goals, the wide range of responsibilities it entails can lead to exhaustion. This descriptive-correlational study explored the relationship between teachers' workloads, burnout levels, and work performance of permanent elementary school teachers from the Masinloc District, Division of Zambales. Using standardized instruments and the teachers’ Individual Performance Commitment and Review Form (IPCRF) ratings, data gathered were analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics. The findings showed that teachers reported a high perception of work/role overload and experienced significant burnout, particularly regarding career satisfaction and attitudes toward students. Moreover, a strong positive relationship was found between burnout levels and work/role overload. Despite these challenges, teachers maintained high performance, which can be attributed to their dedication and commitment to their profession.

Abstract

Business analytics (BA) is revolutionizing how businesses use data to gain a competitive advantage. It offers opportunities for deeper customer insights, targeted marketing campaigns, improved customer satisfaction, new product and service opportunities, and optimized business processes. However, challenges like data quality, talent acquisition, and ethical considerations exist. This study reviews BA literature and discusses the challenges faced by organizations in implementing business analytics, including data availability, quality, skills and training, and technology infrastructure considerations. We conducted a study on 133 analytics professionals in Lahore, Pakistan. Data availability and quality, skills and training, and technology infrastructure all had a positive and significant impact on business analytics challenges and opportunities. The findings aim to contribute to a better understanding of business analytics, implementation challenges, and opportunities.

Abstract

All individuals, regardless of their level of education and employment status, should practice effective management of financial resources. This is essential for setting and attaining financial objectives and making prudent financial decisions. A case study was conducted to deeply analyze the money management practices from the lens of senior high school teachers at a public school in Cebu City, reflecting practices concerning budgeting, saving, spending, debt repayment, and retirement. There were ten key informants, five (5) from Grade 11 and another (5) from Grade 12. These individuals have qualified to be key informants in the study as they meet the inclusion criteria set by the researchers. During the data analysis, notable themes in every indicator were found: needs and wants, meeting financial obligations, using a piggy bank, creating reserves for debt settlement, and preparation for retirement through saving. This shows that despite facing ongoing challenges, these individuals still have the courage and full awareness to manage their money correctly, allowing them to make sound financial decisions. Understanding fundamental finance principles will enable educators to transform their budgets into actionable strategies, establish achievable savings targets, and prioritize repaying debts. This knowledge equips them to more effectively navigate financial hurdles like living expenses, healthcare costs, and planning for retirement. Furthermore, properly implementing effective personal financial planning can enable teachers to attain financial growth and security, leading to increased independence, reduced financial and emotional stress, and an enhanced quality of life.

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the moderating effect of demographics in the relationship between graduate employability and course outcomes contribution. In this study, graduate employability is evaluated by allowing graduates to self-assess their skills. Additionally, graduates assess how their course outcomes have contributed to their graduate skills. This study utilized the descriptive correlational design with moderation analysis to determine the significant relationship among the variables. Stratified Random sampling was used with a total sample size of 125 employed graduates. The statistical tools employed in the study were frequency and percentage distribution, mean and standard deviation, Analysis of variance, Regression analysis, and Moderation analysis. The findings revealed no significant difference in the graduate's employability when respondents were grouped according to profile. A test of influence was conducted between graduate employability and course outcomes contribution, with a coefficient of 1.032 and p-value<0.001 indicating a strong significant relationship. However, it was found that demographics have no moderating effect on the relationship between graduate employability and course outcomes contributions. In conclusion, graduate employability is significantly influence by course outcomes contribution, which established the fact that the stronger the curriculum is the higher the graduate employability of the graduates. Curriculum intervention is simplified eliminating profile segregation, it makes it easier to give activity, seminar, trainings and other activities to graduates. Overall, regardless of future career path the graduates would take, the curriculum should have a well-grounded curriculum and activity to nourished versatile skills for graduates.

Abstract

This present study investigates the extent to which pre-service teachers understand classroom assessment and their conceptions of its effects on student learning and improvement of instruction. In the survey response of 106 pre-service teachers, the knowledge in assessment procedures was strongly positive. However, there is room for development in areas such as planning for varied learners, data interpretation, and feedback (average mean = 3.74). The mean score of 4.00 reveals that pre-service teachers consider assessment important for identifying students' strengths, and fine-tuning education, but targeted training in real skills is recommendable for delivering assessment effectively at an educational institution.

Abstract

This study examines the interplay between cyberloafing, Or-ganizational Citizenship Behavior (OCB), and employee perfor-mance. Cyberloafing, defined as personal use of company internet during work hours, and OCB, comprising voluntary behaviors that enhance organizational effectiveness, are analyzed as predictors of job performance. The research aims to develop an Enhanced Productivity Evaluation Tool (EPET) to assess the impact of these behaviors on performance outcomes.Using a quantitative approach, data were collected via surveys from employees across multiple industries. The study emphasizes the identification of least indicators in three cyberloafing catego-ries: browsing-related activities, non-work-related email usage, and interacting behaviors, as well as in two OCB dimensions: or-ganizational (OCBO) and personal (OCBP). Statistical analyses were conducted to explore correlations between these behaviors and performance metrics.Findings reveal a nuanced relationship: while certain cyberloaf-ing behaviors detract from productivity, others have negligible or even positive impacts under specific conditions. Strong OCB, how-ever, consistently correlates with higher performance levels. These insights underline the importance of a balanced evaluation of em-ployee behavior.This research provides a novel framework for organizations to assess employee productivity comprehensively, accounting for both adverse and beneficial behaviors. The resulting EPET offers a practical tool to enhance organizational performance evaluation and decision-making processes.

Abstract

Understanding the consequences of everyday consumption, and learning how to reduce the size of collective carbon footprint, are vital to reducing CO2 emissions and slowing down human caused climate change. A carbon footprint is a measure of the amount of greenhouse gases (CO2, methane, nitrous oxide) measured in units of carbon dioxide, produced by human activities. This study aimed to quantify the carbon footprint and awareness in solving global warming of teachers and students in the College of Education based on consumptions’ estimates categorized into food consumption, energy usage and household activities. The measurement of Carbon footprint of student-respondents was determined as a whole and by specialization. A number of 296 student-respondents specializing in Filipino, English, Science, TLEd and PEd had a comparable carbon dioxide emission and contributed almost the same percentage in the total carbon footprint considering the different activities they engaged in. While the 35 teacher-respondents had greatest carbon footprint in their type and choices of food consumed. These data were gathered using a survey questionnaire through google form containing different activities with corresponding points associated to greenhouse gases emission. The total emission was computed using this formula: Total Emission (tCO2e) = Activity Data Points in (lbs.) X Emission Factor (tCO2) X Global Warming Potential (e). The result implies that the average carbon footprint of each respondent ranges from 2.04 to 2.55 tCO2e which is below the global average of 4 tCO2e per person. The “average” level of awareness implies that the respondents need to change their lifestyles to cut down carbon footprint but increase knowledge in solving global warming using the developed information and awareness campaign recorded video clip.
