Abstract

Introduction: Unhealthy eating habits, such as the consumption of junk food that is high in salt, sugar, and low in nutrients, can lead to nutritional deficiencies and increase the risk of early cardiovascular diseases in adolescents. Objectives: This research aims to analyze the relationship between dietary patterns and Body Mass Index (BMI) with cholesterol levels in adolescents. Methods: This study uses a cross-sectional analytical observational design. In this study, the sample used total sampling. The population of 58 respondents means that the sample taken is 58 samples. The data was analyzed using univariate analysis for the frequency distribution of BMI, dietary patterns, and cholesterol levels. The chi-square test is used in bivariate analysis to assess the relationship between diet and BMI with cholesterol levels. Results: Based on 58 respondents, the analysis using the chi-square test found that the significance level of the p-value is 0.05, as (p-value 0.464) indicates that there is no effect of BMI on cholesterol levels. Conclusions: Meanwhile, the analysis using the chi-square test on diet concerning cholesterol levels yielded a (p-value of 0.001), indicating that diet affects cholesterol levels. The research results indicate that BMI does not have a significant effect on cholesterol levels, while dietary patterns do impact cholesterol levels among adolescents. This indicates that a multifactorial approach is necessary for addressing cholesterol issues in adolescents.

Abstract

Intriduction: Hypertension is defined as an increase in systolic blood pressure of more than 140 mmHg and diastolic blood pressure of more than 90 mmHg measured twice with a five-minute interval in a state of sufficient rest or relaxation (Ministry of Health of the Republic of Indonesia, 2018). Systolic blood pressure > 130 mmHg and diastolic blood pressure > 80 mmHg in adults (Asmah, 2023). Persistent and uncontrolled hypertension is a leading cause of death, leading to myocardial infarction, heart failure, kidney failure, stroke, vision disorders, and peripheral vascular disease Objectives: The purpose of this study is to examine the effect of cupping therapy on blood pressure reduction in hypertensive patients Method: The design used in this study is Quasi-Experimental, involving a control group and an intervention group. Results: Based on the research results, the average systolic blood pressure at the final measurement for the intervention group is 140.76, while the average systolic blood pressure for the control group is 150.29, with a total of 34 participants. The statistical test using the Paired Sample T-test yielded a value of P 0.002, which is less than 0.05. Therefore, it can be concluded that there is an effect of cupping therapy on blood pressure reduction in hypertensive patients. Meanwhile, the average diastolic blood pressure at the final measurement for the intervention group is 84.24, while the average diastolic blood pressure for the control group is 94.71, also with a total of 34 participants. The statistical test using the Paired Sample T-test yielded a value of P 0.000, which indicates P < 0.05. Conclusions: based on results can be concluded that there is an effect of cupping therapy on blood pressure reduction in hypertensive patients

Abstract

Introduction:Hypertension sufferers with hypercholestrolemia can cause complications from stroke, heart disease and even death. There is a need for a therapeutic approach that can be used by sufferers as an alternative treatment. Objectives:The aim of this research is to analyze the effect of integrating cupping therapy with massage in controlling LDL levels in hypertension sufferers with hypercholetrolemia. Methods:This research is quantitative research with an experimental approach with a pre-post design with control group. The implementation of this research consists of several stages, namely the first stage, namely determining the number of research samples using the Lameshow formula and based on this formula, a sample number of 68 people was obtained which was divided into 2 groups, namely the intervention group and the control group. Results:in group inintervention, there was a difference in the mean at the pretest from 165.76 to 109.03 at the posttest. And the lowest reduction in cholesterol levels was 49,842 and the highest was 63,629. The results of the Paired t test showed a Phi value of 0.0001 < 0.05, which means that the integration of Cupping Therapy with Massage was able to reduce LDL levels in the Intervention Group. Meanwhile, in the Control group, the mean Pretest value was 159.59 and Posttest 158.32. The results of the paired t test showed that the Phi value was 0.107 > 0.05, which means there was no change in Low Density Lipoprotein (LDL) levels in the control group. Conclusions: Based on the results above, it can be concluded that the integration of cupping therapy and massage can reduce LDL levels in hypertension sufferers with complications of hypercholestrolemia.

Abstract

ntroduction: Hypertension is a high blood pressure condition often referred to as the "silent killer" as it is frequently asymptomatic but can lead to a range of serious health complications, including heart disease and stroke. The prevalence of hypertension continues to rise worldwide, with projections of reaching 29% of the adult population by 2025. To control hypertension, complementary therapies such as acupressure are emerging as a supportive complement to the management of high blood pressure, especially for the elderly, to improve their quality of life and ease the burden on the healthcare system. Objectives: to analyze the effect of acupressure therapy on blood pressure in hypertensive elderly. Methods: Pre-Experimental Design, with a One-Group Pretest-Posttest Design. Results: The results showed a decrease in average systolic blood pressure by 24.08 mmHg, from 148.08 mmHg in the pre-test to 124.00 mmHg in the post-test, with a p value of 0.002. In addition, there was a decrease in mean diastolic blood pressure by 11.83 mmHg, from 85.83 mmHg in the pre-test to 74.00 mmHg in the post-test, with a value of (p value 0.013). These results indicate that acupressure therapy has a significant effect on reducing systolic and diastolic blood pressure in elderly hypertension. Conclusions: These findings support using acupressure as a complementary therapy to assist in managing hypertension in the elderly, potentially improving their quality of life and reducing the burden of hypertension-related health services.
