Abstract

Introduction: The COVID-19 pandemic has caused limitations, one of which is contraceptive services. The impact of this pandemic is different in each region. In Indonesia, there was a decrease in family planning acceptors at the beginning of the pandemic and it is feared that there will be a baby boom after the pandemic. During the pandemic, Surabaya was one of the areas with high COVID-19 cases. However, contrary to existing concerns, the number of pregnancies in Surabaya has actually decreased during 2020 (during the pandemic). One of the contraceptive health services in this area is at Jagir Community Health Center. Objectives: This study aims to determine the differences in contraceptive use before and during the COVID-19 pandemic at Jagir Community Health Center. Methods: This research method is quantitative through an observational analytic design. The sample size was 269 acceptors with a sampling technique using total sample method from family planning acceptors at the Jagir Health Center for the period March 2019 - February 2021 which included inclusion criteria. Data collection using medical records. Results: The results showed that the majority of acceptors before and during the pandemic were 20-35 years old with parity ≤ 2. Based on the chi-square test, the difference in contraceptive use before and during the COVID-19 pandemic (p-value <0.05), where during the pandemic there was a decrease in non-MKJP acceptors and an increase in MKJP acceptors. Conclusions: There is a significant difference in contraceptive use before and during the COVID-19 pandemic at Jagir Community Health Center.

Abstract

Background: Gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) is a condition of impaired glucose tolerance that leads to high blood sugar levels and is diagnosed for the first time during pregnancy, with varying degrees of severity. Insufficient physical activity is one of the top global risk factors for premature death. During pregnancy, a lack of physical activity and excessive weight gain are independent risk factors for maternal obesity and related complications, including gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM).Objectives: The aim of this study was to compare the physical activity density between pregnant women diagnosed with gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) and those with normal pregnancies. Methods: This study utilized an observational analytical approach with a comparative design. A purposive sampling technique was employed, with 32 participants in the case group and 32 in the control group. The research was conducted between August and October 2024 at the Obstetrics and Gynecology clinic of Airlangga University Hospital. Data were analyzed using the non-parametric Mann-Whitney Test. Results: The analysis using the Mann-Whitney Test showed a significant p-value of 0.002, indicating a difference in the physical activity density between pregnant women with gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) and those with normal pregnancies. Conclusion: Pregnant women without gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) have higher physical activity density compared to those with gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM). It is suggested that future research adopt an experimental approach, especially focusing on interventions to promote physical activity during pregnancy.

Introduction:The preschool a long time are a basic stage in a child's advancement. Agreeing to the World Wellbeing Organization (WHO, 2021), the predominance of formative clutters is higher in moo- and middle-income nations. In Indonesia, the child improvement list stands at 88.3%, which is lower than Thailand (93%) and Laos (89%) . Furthermore, around 6.5 million out of 22 million children under five are not monitored for growth and development. Both growth and development are closely interrelated, with factors like physical activity and nutritional status playing key roles in ensuring optimal development. Objective: This consider points to analyze the relationship between physical movement levels, wholesome status, and child improvement in preschool-aged children . Methods: An observational, cross-sectional study was conducted at a Posyandu (community health center) with 82 children who met the inclusion criteria. Purposive sampling was used. Data were collected through a 24-hour physical activity recall, anthropometric measurements (weight and height) to assess nutritional status, and the Pre-Screening Developmental Questionnaire (KPSP) to evaluate child development. Results: Spearman's test uncovered a noteworthy relationship between physical movement and child improvement (P = 0.001, r = 0.380), as well as a more grounded relationship between wholesome status and child improvement (P = 0.001, r = 0.610). Conclusion: Higher levels of physical action and way better dietary status are emphatically related with age-appropriate child improvement. These discoveries highlight the significance of advancing physical action and appropriate sustenance for supporting ideal improvement in preschool-aged children.

Abstract

Introduction: Recurrent diarrhea occurs repeatedly within a short period, between one and three months or more than once per year. Diarrhea is a leading cause of toddler deaths globally, including in Indonesia with 100,000 deaths annually. Identifying factors predicting recurrent diarrhea significantly impacts prevention efforts. Objectives: This research aims to create a prediction model for the incidence of recurrent diarrhea in toddlers at the Tanah Kali Kedinding Community Health Center, Surabaya. Methods: This research method was a retrospective observational analytical study with a case-control design, involving 80 toddlers (40 case samples and 40 control samples) selected through purposive sampling. The independent variable was recurrent diarrhea in toddlers. The dependent variables were birth weight, nutritional status, measles immunization status, vitamin A suplementation, breastfeeding patterns, and mother's hand washing habits. The instrument used was a questionnaire. Data analysis used simple and multiple logistic regression. Results: The research showed that the incidence of recurrent diarrhea was related to malnutrition status (p = 0.008, OR = 20.184), measles immunization status (p = 0.029, OR = 9.599), breastfeeding pattern (p = 0.002, OR = 15.270), and maternal hand washing habits (p = 0.001, OR = 15.917). Meanwhile, factors that were not significantly related included birth weight (p = 0.397) and vitamin A suplementation (p = 0.456) Conclusions: Factors that influenced the formation of a prediction model for the incidence of recurrent diarrhea in toddlers were malnutrition status, measles immunization status, breastfeeding patterns, and mother's hand washing habits.

Abstract

The total number of TB cases in Indonesia is 969,000. This figure represents a 17% increase compared to 2020. SITB 2022 data shows there are 15,375 cases of co-infection of pulmonary TB with HIV. The treatment success rate for pulmonary TB co-infection with HIV in Indonesia in 2022 is 71%. This is still far from the national target of 90%.This case report discusses a 33-year-old man with pulmonary TB and TB lymphadenitis with HIV at clinical stage 4. The CD4 count was 10 cells/mm3. The degree of immunodeficiency suffered by this patient is severe immunodeficiency. The management was to administer OAT first, followed by ART within 2 weeks after OAT was administered and well tolerated. OAT was administered for 9 months due to the presence of TB lymphadenitis. Treatment evaluation showed clinical improvement and the patient did not develop IRIS. The incidence of IRIS in patients with TB is 8%-43%. Factors influencing the occurrence of IRIS include the CD4 count at the start of ART.

Abstract

Hepatitis is an inflammatory disease of the liver caused by toxins or poisons originating from chemicals, drugs, or infectious agents such as viruses. Hepatitis can be suffered by all groups, from children to adults. Previous research has proven that hepatitis C infection also contributes to the development of metabolic disorders which play an important role as risk factors for cardiovascular disease and hypertension. The aim of this research is to determine the factors that cause cardiovascular disorders in adult hepatitis B and C sufferers. This research is a type of descriptive research with a cross sectional design. The research respondents were 36 people (aged 20-60 years) using simple random sampling technique. The research results showed that the majority of respondents were 51-60 years old (44.5%), had at least elementary school education (52.8%), male gender (55.6%) and hepatitis B type (86.1%). The results of the analysis of factors causing cardiovascular disorders in hepatitis B and C sufferers were lifestyle, history of DM and high cholesterol with P<0.05. In further research, efforts can be made to increase knowledge of hepatitis B and C sufferers so that cardiovascular disorders such as hypertension, CAD and even heart failure do not occur
