Hipotenusa Journal of Research Mathematics Education (HJRME) is a peer-refereed open-access international journal which has been established for the dissemination of state-of-the-art knowledge in the field of mathematics education. This journal is founded under Department of Mathematics Education FKIP Universitas Muhammadiyah Lampung. Starting from 2020, HJRME would be published two times in a year (February & August). All submitted manuscripts will be initially reviewed by editors and are then evaluated by a minimum of two National Reviewers through the double-blind review process. This is to ensure the quality of the published manuscripts in the journal.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to determine whether there are differences in the average learning outcomes of mathematics and which are higher average learning outcomes of mathematics between students who use the learning methods Problem Based Learning and Problem Solving. This type of research is experimental. Data analysis techniques using the ttes formula. The results showed that: (1) there were differences in the average learning outcomes of mathematics between students who used the Problem Based Learning and Problem Solving learning methods at SMPN 2 Metro, this was known based on the calculation of the hypothesis test obtained thit = 2,60 and tdaf = 2,00 so thit> tdaf. (2) the average student learning outcomes using the Problem Based Learning method are higher than the Problem Solving learning method in mathematics learning for VIII grade students of SMP Negeri 2 Metro 2016/2017 Academic Year, this is known based on the two average test difference, obtained thit = 2,53 and tdaf. = 1,67 so thit > tda

Abstract

A planned effort to develop one's potential and change one's attitude and way of thinking to interact in daily life so that how to behave for the better is the meaning of education. Mastery of concepts is very much needed in the learning process in the classroom but in fact there are still many students who do not understand the concept so that learning outcomes are still low, one of the causes of the lack of mastery of learning concepts in class is the lack of variety in learning or the use of classical learning methods makes students bored and bored to follow the learning process in class so that the material presented by the teacher is not conveyed properly to students. The method used in this study using descriptive quantitative methods, the data were analyzed using statistical calculations for the population in this study were all students of class VII SMP SLB Lampung Province which consisted of 2 classes with a total of 16 students, while the sample was taken 2 classes, namely class VII.A and class VII.B. To find out student results, an essay test was conducted. From the results of testing the hypothesis using the statistical formula t-test obtained the value of t  = 3.08. From the t  distribution table at the 5% significant level, it is known that t = 2.14 and t = 1.76, while at the 1% significant level it is known that t = t= 2.98 and t = 2.62, this means t > t

Abstract

This research is a classroom action research, which purpose to improve the result of the students math process of the students xi ipa by interest based learning. The research subjects were 23 students of Second Year students of SMA in Pangkajene of the second semester of academic year 2012/2013. This research was conducted in two cycles. The procedure conducted in 4 stages, called: (1) Planning, (2) Implementation of action, (3) observation, and (4) Reflection. The data collection was done by giving the cycle test I then cycle test II, and questionnaire response of students after given teaching by interest based learning. The collected data were analyzed by quantitative and qualitative. The result of this research shown that quatitatively, the result of students math learning was increase by Interest based learning. At the first cycle, the numbers of students who passed the study were 19 students (82, 6 %) with an average score of 71,00 from the ideal score of 100 that categorized high score. At the second cycle, the numbers of students who passed the study were 23 students (100 %) with an average score of 87,57 that categorized very high score. While qualitatively,during the learning process, shown that there was better of behavior change, it can be seen by the increasing of students development activity that was suitable with learning of the first and the second cycle. The students also gave positive response of learning which was seen by response questionnaire of students.

Abstract

This study uses descriptive quantitative methods, data analysis using statistical formulas. The population in this study were all students of class VIII of SMP Negeri 1 Padangmirin which consisted of 6 classes with a total of 240 students, while the sample was taken 2 classes, namely class VIII.A as the experimental class and class VIII.B as the control class. To be able to find out student learning outcomes, the writer conducted a test in the form of an essay.Hypothesis testing using the statistical formula t-test. Based on = 3.48, for the similarity test of the two averages for  = 0,05, it is obtained   = 1.99, and for  = 0.01, it is obtained    = 2.65 so it can be said that > it shows that there is an effect of using volume conservation props on geometry of class VIII students in even semesters of SMP Negeri 1. Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded: (1) there is an effect of using conservation of volume props on learning outcomes of geometry. (2) learning using conservation of volume teaching aids is more effective in improving learning outcomes of geometric geometry

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk : (1) mengetahui persentase  siswa kelas VIII yang mengalami kesulitan, (2) mengetahui penyebab kesulitan siswa dalam menyelesaikan soal-soal persamaan linier, (3) mengetahui cara mengatasi kesulitan siswa dalam menyelesaikan soal-soal sistem persamaan linier. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode deskriptif kualitatif. Populasi penelitian adalah siswa kelas VIII SMP PGRI 1 Pagelaran Pringsewu dengan jumlah 72 siswa dan mengambil 30 siswa sebagai sampel penelitiannya. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, maka dapat disimpulkan : (1) siswa yang mampu menyelesaikan soal system persamaan linier sebanyak 62,99% dan yang mengalami kesulitan sebesar 37,01%, (2) penyebab siswa mengalami kesulitan menyelesaikan soal-soal sistem persamaan linier yaitu diakibatkan : siswa tidak memahami konsep sistem persamaan linier dan menerapkan kedalam sebuah soal, siswa tidak teliti dalam mengerjakan setiap soal yang ada, (3) cara mengatasi kesulitan siswa yaitu : meningkatkan kemampuan siswa dalam memahami konsep sistem persamaan linier dengan memberikan penekanan pada saat menyampaikan materi, lebih banyak melakukan evaluasi berupa latihan-latihan pada setiap akhir kegiatan pembelajaran, dan memberikan tugas rumah untuk mematangkan materi yang telah disampaikan.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis peningkatan kemampuan berpikir geometri siswa KAM tinggi. Pendekatan yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah pendekatan kuantitatif dengan metode kuasi eksperimen. Sample dalam penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas VII sebanyak 63 siswa di salah satu SMP di kota Bandung. Instrumen yang digunakan untuk mengumpulkan data adalah dengan tes. Sebelum dilakukan uji hhipotesis, data terlebih dahulu dianalisis dengan melakukan uji prasyarat yaitu, uji normalitas dan uji homogenitas. Setelah dilakukan uji prasyarat, selanjutny dilakukan uji hiipotesis dengan uji perbedaan. Hasil penelitian dan uji hipotesis menunjukan bahwa peningkatan kemampuan berpikir geometri siswa KAM tinggi yang memperoleh pembelajaran dengan model POGIL lebih tinggi secara signifikan daripada siswa yang memperoleh pembelajaran biasa. Hal ini terlihat dari jawaban-jawaban siswa dan peningkatan level berpikir siswa. Sebanyak 74% siswa dengan KAM tinggi meningkat level berpikirnya dari level 1 ke level 2 dan 25% siswa tetap berada pada level 1. Oleh karena itu model POGIL dapat digunakan dalam pembelajaran geometri, serta bagi peneliti yang akan melakukan penelitian sejenis sebaiknya juga menganalisis kemampuan berpikir geometri siswa dengan KAM sedang dan rendah

Abstract

The development of teaching materials and learning media used by teachers in providing lessons is expected to help students master basic competencies. The method used in this research is a quantitative descriptive method, data collection is used essay tests. 23 Bandar Lampung. The population is 239 students spread over 6 classes. In the study, two classes were sampled, namely class VII D and VII E, totaling 80 students. Sampling using cluster random sampling technique. Data analysis using the t test formula. From the results of hypothesis testing using the statistical formula t-test, it was obtained thit = 4.71, in the similarity test the two averages for  = 0,05 were obtained   = 2.00, and For = 0.01 obtained   = 2.66. Because thit > tdaf f then the hypothesis Ho is rejected, meaning Ha is accepted. So it can be concluded that "there is an effect of applying the development of teaching materials and learning media in teaching mathematics to mathematics learning outcomes in class VII students in even semesters of SMP Negeri 23 Bandar Lampung. and For = 0.01 obtained =  = 2.39. Because thit > tdaf Ho is rejected, it means that Ha is accepted at the level of significance of   = 0.05 or 0.01, the value of thit is greater. Thus it was concluded that: "The average mathematics learning outcomes of students with the development of teaching materials and learning media are higher than the average mathematics learning outcomes of students without the development of teaching materials and learning media"

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk : (1) mengetahui persentase  siswa kelas X yang mengalami kesulitan dalam menyelesaikan soal-soal matematika bentuk uraian pokok bahasan fungsi kuadrat,   (2) mengetahui penyebab kesulitan siswa dalam menyelesaikan soal-soal matematika bentuk uraian pokok bahasan fungsi kuadrat, (3) mengetahui cara mengatasi kesulitan siswa dalam menyelesaikan soal-soal matematika bentuk uraian pokok bahasan fungsi kuadrat.Dalam penelitian ini metode yang digunakan adalah metode deskriptif kualitatif. Populasi dalam penelitian ini yaitu siswa kelas X SMK Negeri 1 Bandar Lampung dengan jumlah 319 siswa dan mengambil 40 siswa sebagai sampel penelitiannya. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, maka dapat disimpulkan : (1) siswa yang mampu menyelesaikan soal-soal Fungsi Kuadrat sebanyak 62,5% dan yang mengalami kesulitan sebesar 37,5%, (2) penyebab siswa mengalami kesulitan menyelesaikan soal-soal persamaan linier yaitu diakibatkan : siswa tidak memahami konsep Fungsi Kuadrat dan menerapkan kedalam sebuah soal, siswa tidak teliti dalam mengerjakan setiap soal yang ada, (3) cara mengatasi kesulitan siswa yaitu : meningkatkan kemampuan siswa dalam memahami konsep Fungsi Kuadrat dengan memberikan penekanan pada saat menyampaikan materi, lebih banyak melakukan evaluasi berupa latihan-latihan pada setiap akhir kegiatan pembelajaran, dan memberikan tugas rumah untuk mematangkan materi yang telah disampaikan.

Abstract

Pada paper ini, dibentuk model epidemi  dengan vaksinasi hanya terhadap virus strain pertama. Analisis kestabilan pada model dilakukan dengan memperhatikan nilai parameter ambang batas . Model yang dibentuk menunjukkan adanya penyebaran strain virus kedua yaitu dampak dari pelaksanaan vaksinasi tunggal pada dinamika infeksi dua strain virus. Pada nilai parameter ambang batas tertentu, terdapat titik ekuilibrium bebas penyakit dan titik ekuilibrium endemik yang stabil asimtotik global. Simulasi numerik diberikan untuk mempermudah dalam interpretasi hasil analisisnya.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of class-based assessment on students' interest and learning outcomes in mathematics. In addition, it can be used as consideration for teachers in an effort to increase student interest in mathematics through an assessment system that can make students more active in learning in order to improve their learning outcomes. This research was conducted by selecting research samples from the existing population of two classes, namely experimental and control, applying class-based assessment to the experimental class. The instruments used are questionnaires to measure interest in learning mathematics and tests to measure mathematics learning outcomes. The questionnaire consists of 24 statements in the form of a Likert scale and the test consists of 10 questions in the form of descriptions. Questionnaires and tests were administered at the end of the study. The results of the analysis obtained for students' interest in learning is 3.295 while for learning outcomes is 5.604.
