Abstract

Financial derivatives constitute a challenging course for undergraduate students due to the complexity of the underlying concepts and calculations. This study explores students’ cognitive and behavioral adaptation strategies in learning financial derivatives, employing financial literacy theory, cognitive and behavioral learning theories, and risk management theory as analytical frameworks. A qualitative approach was adopted, involving in-depth interviews with 21 seventh-semester students from a private university in Jakarta, selected through purposive sampling. The data were analyzed thematically and supplemented with quantitative counts of adaptation strategy frequency. The findings indicate that students struggle to comprehend technical terminology and apply derivative concepts, challenges that are further exacerbated by a lack of contextual learning. The most common adaptation strategies include case-based learning, self-directed study, group discussions, and the use of technology such as artificial intelligence and social media. The study highlights the need for more interactive, simulation-based teaching methods and expanded access to digital learning resources.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) on regional economic growth in Indonesia through digitalization acceleration. Using a mixed-methods approach with a sequential explanatory design, the research was conducted in four provinces representing variations in digital readiness and FDI acceptance: West Java, East Java, South Sulawesi, and East Kalimantan. The quantitative results were analyzed using SEM-PLS regression, while the qualitative findings were examined through thematic coding. The study found that FDI significantly contributes to regional digitalization and has a positive impact on economic growth; however, this effect is significantly strengthened by local digital readiness. Digitalization proves to be an important mediator in enhancing the relationship between FDI and economic growth, particularly in terms of operational efficiency, expanding MSME markets, and technological innovation. Digital readiness disparities between regions act as limiting factors, where areas with weak ICT infrastructure and human resources show lower impacts. Therefore, cross-sector collaborative strategies involving local governments, academics, MSME actors, and foreign investors are necessary to build an inclusive and sustainable digital ecosystem. The research highlights the importance of data-driven policy design and local capacity building as prerequisites to maximize the economic benefits of digital-based FDI. These findings are expected to serve as a reference for policymakers, business actors, and researchers in supporting responsive and competitive regional digital economic transformation.

Abstract

In the era of digitalized science education, students’ ability to construct, connect, and communicate scientific ideas through multiple representations is increasingly vital. This study examined the effectiveness of a Multiple Representation Strategy via Team-Based Representational Activities with Creative Exploration through Learning via Video in improving representational abilities on cell fundamentals. The research involved 20 undergraduate students from a 2019 Chemistry Education cohort. Using a Project-Based Learning (PJBL) model, students collaboratively produced educational videos based on lecture subtopics. Representational ability was assessed through five essay items aligned with indicators: verbal, visual, symbolic, integrated, and creative. Descriptive results showed verbal representation scored highest (M=84), followed by visual (M=78), while symbolic (M=65) and integrated (M=68) scored lowest. Regression analysis revealed verbal, visual, and integrated representations significantly predicted overall performance (p < 0.05), with verbal being the strongest predictor (β = 0.421). These findings suggest that the PJBL-video approach supports expressive and visual learning well but needs enhancement in fostering symbolic and integrative skills. The study highlights the importance of instructional strategies that encourage communication, creativity, and abstract reasoning. Insights from this research can inform the development of science pedagogy and curriculum aimed at improving representational fluency, especially in biochemistry education and broader STEM learning contexts.

Abstract

This research aims to determine the influence of education level and job skills on the performance of Generation Z employees at PT Solomon Indo Global. As the youngest demographic in the workforce, Generation Z possesses unique characteristics shaped by digital exposure and technological adaptability. However, there remains debate regarding whether formal education alone can significantly impact work performance, especially in industrial settings. This study uses a quantitative approach with a population of 83 Gen Z employees, all selected using a saturated sampling technique. Data were collected through a structured questionnaire and analyzed using multiple linear regression with SPSS version 26. The results showed that the education level variable has a positive but not statistically significant effect on employee performance (Sig. = 0.073 > 0.05; t = 1.814), suggesting that formal education alone is not a direct determinant of workplace effectiveness. Meanwhile, the skills variable had a strong and significant positive effect (Sig. = 0.000 < 0.05; t = 14.067), highlighting the importance of both technical and soft skills in improving individual productivity. Simultaneously, the F-test confirmed that both variables together significantly influence performance (F = 177.750; Sig. = 0.000), with an R² value of 0.812, meaning 81.2% of the variation in employee performance can be explained by education and job skills. These findings suggest that companies must integrate education and skills training in their HR development programs. For Generation Z to thrive in competitive work environments, strategies must go beyond formal education and emphasize continuous skill enhancement aligned with industrial needs.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the influence of motivation and demotivation through social media on the quality improvement of Generation Z human resources in Tambak Oso Village, Sidoarjo. As digital platforms become integral to daily life, Generation Z who are highly exposed to online content are simultaneously influenced by both motivational and demotivational material. The study uses a quantitative approach with a survey method, involving 55 respondents selected through purposive sampling. Data collection was conducted using questionnaires and analyzed through multiple linear regression using SPSS version 21. The findings reveal that motivational content, such as educational messages, self-improvement narratives, and inspirational media, significantly affects the development of Generation Z’s personal and professional attributes. Demotivational content such as hate speech, cyberbullying, and negative comparisons also impacts development, albeit to a lesser extent. The results of the t-test indicate that both motivation (p = 0.001) and demotivation (p = 0.040) have partial effects on the quality of human resources. The F-test results (p = 0.001) further confirm that both variables together have a simultaneous effect. The coefficient of determination (R² = 0.224) suggests that 22.4% of the variance in human resource quality is explained by these two variables. This study highlights the importance of digital literacy, emotional readiness, and strategic policy to ensure that social media becomes a constructive tool in shaping the future of Generation Z. Educational institutions and local governments are encouraged to promote motivational digital content while mitigating exposure to negative influences through media education and community engagement.

Abstract

The objective of this study is to analyze the impact of the Rural and Urban Land and Building Tax Potential (PBB-P2) and its relevance to local revenue (PAD) and taxpayer compliance in Badung Regency, both directly and indirectly. The present study employs a quantitative approach, utilizing the Structural Equation Modeling-Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS) method. Primary data was obtained through the distribution of questionnaires to 160 respondents who are active PBB-P2 taxpayers in Badung Regency. The findings indicated that PBB-P2 Potential and PBB-P2 Relevance exert a substantial influence on PAD. However, it is important to note that only PBB-P2 Relevance has been demonstrated to have a significant effect on Taxpayer Compliance, both directly and indirectly through PAD. Conversely, PBB-P2 Potential exerts minimal influence on Taxpayer Compliance, either directly or through PAD. PAD has been demonstrated to exert a substantial influence on taxpayer compliance, functioning as a pivotal mediator in the association between PBB-P2 relevance and taxpayer compliance. This finding suggests that taxpayers' perceptions of tax transparency and usefulness play a more significant role in encouraging compliance than the amount of regional fiscal potential. Consequently, the strategy to enhance taxpayer compliance must prioritize initiatives that cultivate public trust, ensure transparency in tax administration, and optimize the practical application of PAD in public services

Abstract

Public awareness regarding the sorting of household waste is a critical component of sustainable environmental management initiatives. The objective of this study is to utilize a logistic regression analysis to examine the factors that influence the level of public awareness in sorting household waste. The independent variables that were the focus of the study included age, gender, education level, and employment status. The findings of the analysis indicate that gender, education level, and employment status exert a substantial influence on awareness of sorting waste (p-value <0.05). The probability that a woman will sort waste is 5.5 times greater than that of a man. As demonstrated in Figure 1, respondents with high school and college education levels exhibited a 11.3- and 13.9-fold increased likelihood of sorting waste, respectively, compared to respondents with junior high school education. The presence of both student status and employment was found to have a substantial impact on the probability of waste segregation, with odds ratios of 62.44 and 34.08, respectively. In contrast, the age variable did not demonstrate a statistically significant effect; however, a tendency was observed indicating that the productive age group exhibits a greater degree of awareness regarding waste sorting in comparison to the elderly. The Hosmer and Lemeshow test demonstrated that the logistic regression model employed was appropriate (p-value = 0.072). This finding emphasizes the importance of educational, occupational, and gender-based approaches in developing strategies to enhance public awareness regarding household waste segregation.
