Abstract

This study analyzes the impact of leverage, liquidity, and sales growth on the profitability of coal mining companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange from 2019 to 2024. Leverage variables are measured using the Debt to Equity Ratio (DER) and Debt to Assets Ratio (DAR), while liquidity is measured using the Current Ratio (CR). The results of the study indicate that DER, DAR, and CR have a significant effect on Return on Assets (ROA), which suggests that optimal management of capital structure, funding, and liquidity plays an important role in increasing company profitability. The implications of these findings emphasize that companies need to implement appropriate financial strategies to maximize asset performance and support long-term growth. For further research, it is recommended that the sample coverage be expanded to other industrial sectors, such as technology or services, to test whether the relationship between the variables studied remains consistent in different contexts. In addition, the use of moderating variables, such as company size or level of innovation, can provide deeper insight into the factors that influence profitability. Longer longitudinal analysis and consideration of macroeconomic factors, such as interest rates and inflation, are also recommended to understand the long-term impact of leverage and liquidity on company profitability.

Abstract

This study analyzes Indonesia's strategic deployment of the 2022 MotoGP Mandalika as an integrated sports-cultural diplomatic tool and examines its effectiveness in promoting tourism recovery and strengthening international relations in the postpandemic era. A qualitative research approach was employed, incorporating semistructured interviews with key stakeholders. Data triangulation was performed via primary interview data and secondary sources from August 2023-January 2025, and the impacts of the event were analyzed through the theoretical frameworks of soft power, sports diplomacy, and cultural diplomacy. The analysis revealed that the MotoGP Mandalika event successfully contributed to a 1.46% increase in regional GDP and generated an additional 4.5 trillion Indonesian rupiah in economic value. The integration of local cultural elements, including the participation of 300 SME groups and traditional performance, enhanced the event's diplomatic impact. The study identified effective multistakeholder collaboration among government agencies, international organizations, and local communities as a crucial success factor. The findings demonstrate that integrating sports and cultural diplomacy through international sporting events can effectively serve multiple national interests, from economic recovery to diplomatic relationship enhancement to national security. The successful implementation of MotoGP Mandalika provides a model for developing nations seeking to leverage sporting events for diplomatic purposes while promoting sustainable tourism development in the postpandemic era.

Abstract

By using a STEAM-Based Gamification method, this study seeks to maximize students' capacity for metacognitive thinking when learning chemical bonds. In the odd semester of 2023, 28 Biology Education students in class C participated in a quantitative study using a one-group pretest-posttest design. The metacognition questionnaire and the pretest-posttest were the primary tools utilized, and the paired t-test and Effect Size (Cohen's d) were employed to analyze the results. After using STEAM-Based Gamification, students' metacognitive thinking skills significantly improved, according to the results (p-value <0.05). According to the Effect Size value (Cohen's d = 2.63), this approach has a very significant impact. The learning strategy planning component saw the largest growth (+35.6%), demonstrating students' growing capacity to oversee their own learning. According to these results, STEAM-Based Gamification may be widely used to teach difficult chemical topics. By developing more interactive, reflexive, and student-centered learning experiences and enhancing their preparedness for the challenges of the Education 4.0 age, this strategy has the potential to transform the educational paradigm in the future.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of investment knowledge, environmentally friendly lifestyles, and interest rates on investment interest among Generation Z. The study results show that investment knowledge significantly impacts investment interest, where higher financial literacy encourages more rational and informed investment decisions. An environmentally friendly lifestyle also contributes to increasing investment interest, although its influence is not as strong as financial literacy. Interest rates are proven to affect investment decisions, but their contribution is smaller compared to other factors. These findings indicate that a combination of good financial literacy and awareness of sustainable investment can enhance Generation Z's participation in the investment world. Therefore, financial education and the promotion of sustainability-based investment need to be improved to encourage wiser and more responsible investment decisions.

Abstract

The Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) industry in Indonesia plays an important role in the country's economy, especially in the creative and manufacturing industries. One of the products that is increasingly developing is local screen-printed plastic bags, but faces increasingly tight global market competition. The purpose of this study is to identify and analyze branding strategies implemented by local screen-printed plastic bag MSMEs in competing in the global market. This study uses a qualitative approach with a case study method on MSME actors engaged in the screen-printed plastic bag industry. The results of the study indicate that branding strategies are essential to increase the competitiveness of MSMEs in the global market. It is important for MSMEs to pay attention to global trends such as tourism and environmentally friendly technology to attract the attention of global consumers. This study also found that brand strengthening and consistent communication with consumers through digital platforms can be a significant competitive advantage. The implication of this study is that MSMEs need to be more adaptive to changes in the global market and take advantage of various opportunities to improve their position in the international market through innovative and planned branding strategies.

Abstract

The management of public spaces in Makassar faces challenges in maintaining a balance between modernization and the preservation of local cultural values. This study explores the role of local wisdom, especially the values of Siri' na Pacce, cooperation, and communal solidarity, in maintaining the sustainability of public spaces amid rapid urbanization. Using a qualitative ethnographic approach, this study conducts participatory observations, in-depth interviews, and document analysis to understand social dynamics in the management of public spaces. The results of the study show that despite changes due to urbanization, people still maintain cultural values in the use of public spaces. However, privatization and commercialization threaten community involvement in its management. Changes in social interaction patterns are also seen with the increasing use of digital platforms compared to physical meetings in public spaces. This research recommends culture-based strategies for more inclusive urban planning, by strengthening collaboration between governments, communities, and the private sector to ensure that public spaces remain part of society's social identity. Thus, local wisdom can continue to be the main pillar in maintaining the sustainability of public spaces in Makassar.

Abstract

Balinese handicraft products are synonymous with soul and art based on local wisdom values that become local knowledge and local skills as a form of originality that is not owned by other regions so that it will be easier for companies to achieve sustainable competitive advantage (Ife, 2002; Mardatillah et al., 2020). Wood handicraft SMEs in Bali Province are known to have a high artistic spirit, creativity and innovation and have their own characteristics or uniqueness. The artistic spirit is passed down from generation to generation and is an integral part of the daily activities of the craftsmen. This research uses quantitative research methods, which are based on the positivism paradigm. The analysis continued at the quantitative analysis stage based on multivariate analysis using structural equation modeling (SEM) based on Partial Least Square (PLS). Problems in the competitive advantage of wood handicraft SMIs in Bali can be seen from their low production value when compared to other existing industries. Bali as a craft center is certainly a large market for consumers both at home and abroad. This of course makes wood handicraft SMIs require a competitive advantage that can be highlighted and become a differentiator with other similar industrial products. This research was conducted on wood handicraft SMIs in Gianyar Regency. This is done because Gianyar is famous for its many wood craftsmen who have a high artistic spirit and creativity. The population of this study was all wood handicraft SMIs in Gianyar Regency which amounted to 476 businesses.

Abstract

This study observes the influence of mergers and acquisitions (M&A) towards customer satisfaction and loyalty of banking companies in Indonesia. It investigates how M&A activities affect consumer perceptions, service quality, and brand trust. Using survey data from news articles & customers of companies that have undergone M&A between 2018 and 2023, this study uses a quantitative approach with statistical analysis, including regression models and correlation analysis, to assess shifts in customer sentiment. The results acknowledge that while M&A can create operational efficiencies and expand service offerings, they sometimes lead to short-term decrease in customer satisfaction due to service disturbance and brand identity changes. Customers possibly encounter uncertainty about the product quality, pricing readjustments, and consistency of the service, affecting their general satisfaction. Nevertheless, companies with effective post-M&A combination, containing transparent communication, service consistency, and customer engagement, may maintain customer loyalty. Furthermore, brand reputation and trustworthiness play a big role in building post-M&A consumer behavior. Customers tend to remain loyal when they recognize stability and upgraded benefits after the merger. Though M&A develop opportunities for business growth, they also pose a threat to customer relationships if not executed correctly. Understanding these interactions is essential for companies to direct consumer doubts, enhance customer loyalty strategies, and maximize the long-term advantages of M&A.
