Abstract

This study investigates the performance of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) by synthesizing evidence from recent empirical studies through a systematic literature review approach. The research analyzes thirty-three peer-reviewed journal articles published between 2020 and 2025 that explicitly discuss MSME performance from multidimensional perspectives. The data collection process followed established systematic review protocols, including identification, screening, eligibility, and inclusion of relevant literature. The methodology employed thematic content analysis to classify findings into four major categories: performance measurement, internal determinants, external support, and international comparisons. The results reveal that MSME performance is not only measured by financial indicators such as profit, revenue, and cash flow but also by non-financial aspects including innovation, customer satisfaction, and sustainability criteria. The analysis shows that innovation, entrepreneurial orientation, financial literacy, and human resource capacity are the most influential internal factors, while government policies, financial institutions, market access, and infrastructure represent crucial external enablers. The findings further indicate that digitalization and technology adoption play a pivotal role in strengthening MSME competitiveness and resilience, particularly during economic crises and the COVID-19 pandemic. Finally, the review highlights significant differences between developing and developed countries, where MSMEs in emerging economies face more structural challenges yet often experience greater marginal benefits from digital transformation.

Abstract

The legislative process of the Draft Bill on Asset Forfeiture (RUU PA) reflects the complex interplay of law and politics within Indonesia’s legal system. Despite its widely acknowledged urgency as an instrument to recover state losses from corruption and money laundering, the bill has yet to be enacted up to the 2025–2026 National Legislation Program. This study seeks to address two central questions: (1) why the Asset Forfeiture Bill has not been passed until now, and (2) how legal, political, and institutional factors influence its formation, and how its formulation can balance the effectiveness of asset recovery with the protection of human rights. Employing a normative juridical method complemented with socio-legal analysis, the study finds that delays in enactment are driven by normative debates on non-conviction based asset forfeiture (NCB), political bargaining within the House of Representatives, and institutional limitations in managing forfeited assets. The study concludes that the ideal formulation of the bill must integrate the principles of the rule of law, establish strong judicial oversight, and strengthen institutional capacity to ensure that NCB mechanisms operate effectively without undermining constitutional rights. Thus, the Asset Forfeiture Bill should not only function as a tool for state asset recovery but also embody Indonesia’s commitment to justice and the rule of law.

Abstract

Verbal aggression is a common phenomenon in online interactions and may vary depending on individual differences in trait argumentativeness. This study aims to examine the differences in verbal aggression based on trait argumentativeness among social media users. The participants were 504 social media users aged 18 years and above, recruited through accidental sampling. The research employed the Verbal Aggression Scale and the Trait Argumentativeness Scale as measurement instruments. Based on the trait argumentativeness scores, respondents were categorized into three groups: high, moderate, and low argumentativeness. Data were analyzed using non-parametric statistics with the Kruskal–Wallis test. The results indicated a significant difference in verbal aggression across the three groups (p = 0.001, p < 0.05). Post Hoc Dunn’s tests revealed that the high argumentativeness group significantly differed from both the moderate (p = 0.001) and low argumentativeness groups (p = 0.001). However, no significant difference was found between the moderate and low argumentativeness groups (p = 0.496, p > 0.05). The findings suggest that individuals characterized by higher levels of trait argumentativeness are more likely to display greater verbal aggression on social media than those with lower levels.

Abstract

The rapid growth of the gig economy in Indonesia has transformed the nature of digital work, offering flexibility yet creating challenges related to job security and performance. This study aims to analyze the influence of task clarity, technology access, social support, and motivation on the performance of gig workers in Indonesia. A quantitative descriptive approach was used by distributing online questionnaires to 300 digital platform workers across the Greater Jakarta area. Data were analyzed using multiple linear regression after meeting the requirements of validity, reliability, and classical assumption tests. The results show that social support and motivation have a significant positive effect on performance, while task clarity and technology access show a positive but insignificant relationship. The findings indicate that psychosocial factors contribute more strongly to gig workers’ performance than structural or technical aspects. These results imply that maintaining social connections and intrinsic motivation is crucial for sustaining productivity in flexible digital work environments. This study is limited to respondents in urban areas and does not include qualitative insights from workers’ lived experiences. Future research is suggested to expand the sample across regions and integrate qualitative analysis to better understand the dynamics of digital labor in Indonesia.

Abstract

This study examines the effects of workload, time flexibility, income security, and technological support on employee productivity in the gig economy. The research employs a quantitative approach using survey data collected from gig workers across the JABODETABEK region. Multiple linear regression analysis was applied to evaluate the partial and simultaneous relationships among the variables. The results show that all four independent variables significantly influence productivity. Workload positively affects productivity when maintained at an optimal level, while time flexibility provides the strongest individual effect by improving motivation and work–life balance. Income security also contributes significantly to productivity by ensuring financial stability and reducing stress related to income uncertainty. Among the variables, technological support exhibits the most dominant effect, enhancing efficiency and enabling smoother digital collaboration. The simultaneous test results further confirm that the interaction of workload, flexibility, income stability, and technological support produces a substantial and statistically significant influence on productivity. The findings of this study suggest that sustainable productivity among gig workers is determined by the synergistic balance of workload management, flexible scheduling, income stability, and technological integration within digital work environments. Abstract

Indonesia’s coffee industry has rapidly expanded, yet local coffee brands face challenges in differentiating themselves and building strong brand awareness among digitally savvy millennials. This study examines the effectiveness of content marketing strategies in enhancing brand awareness of local coffee products among Indonesian millennials. Using a quantitative explanatory approach, data were collected from 350 respondents who are active social media users and consumers of local coffee. The analysis was conducted with SPSS 26, applying validity, reliability, and multiple regression tests to evaluate four core dimensions of content marketing: content quality, relevance, posting consistency, and digital interactivity. The findings reveal that all four dimensions significantly and positively influence brand awareness, with content quality emerging as the most dominant factor. High-quality content establishes credibility and trust, while relevant and interactive content fosters emotional engagement and consumer participation. Posting consistency contributes to sustained visibility and recognition, reinforcing long-term brand retention in digital spaces. Theoretically, the study expands the understanding of digital brand communication by emphasizing the interaction between emotional and informational dimensions of marketing content. Practically, it suggests that local coffee brands should prioritize integrated content marketing strategies combining authenticity, creativity, and data-driven planning. Furthermore, consistent storytelling reflecting Indonesia’s cultural identity can transform local coffee branding from a promotional activity into a cultural narrative that enhances national pride and competitiveness. Overall, this study concludes that content marketing is not only a promotional mechanism but also a strategic framework for building enduring brand awareness and loyalty in Indonesia’s digital economy.

Abstract

AbstractThis study examines the application of Maqashid Shariah within the financial performance framework of Islamic Rural Banks (BPRS) in Indonesia by evaluating the extent to which profitability, operational efficiency, liquidity management, and credit risk influence Maqashid Shariah outcomes. Using panel data from 2015–2024 and employing the EViews regression approach, the research integrates both financial indicators and the Maqashid Shariah Index to measure the alignment of BPRS operations with the objectives of Shariah, including the preservation of wealth, promotion of justice, development of human capability, and enhancement of social welfare. The findings show that profitability significantly improves Maqashid Shariah performance, demonstrating that financial strength enables banks to invest more extensively in welfare-oriented initiatives. Liquidity efficiency, measured through Financing to Deposit Ratio (FDR), also displays a positive influence, indicating that productive financing contributes to community empowerment and financial inclusion. Conversely, operational inefficiency and high non-performing financing reduce the bank’s ability to deliver Shariah-driven outcomes, reflecting the importance of cost management and risk governance. Overall, the results highlight that financial sustainability and Maqashid Shariah are mutually reinforcing rather than competing objectives. The study underscores the need for BPRS to strengthen governance, improve risk management, and adopt strategic innovations to optimize their contribution to ethical and welfare-driven economic development. The findings have implications for policymakers, regulators, and practitioners seeking to enhance the role of Islamic rural banks in advancing Shariah-compliant socio-economic transformation. Keywords: Maqashid Shariah, BPRS, financial performance, Islamic banking, welfare outcomes.

Abstract

AbstractRapid urbanization in tropical cities increases energy use and environmental degradation, highlighting the need for green architecture to promote sustainable and resilient public buildings. This study investigates the application of green architecture principles in the design of public buildings in tropical urban areas, emphasizing their impact on environmental sustainability. Using a quantitative explanatory approach and multiple regression analysis with EViews 12, the research examines the influence of three primary variables green design principles, tropical climate adaptation, and building energy efficiency on environmental sustainability (Y). Data were collected from 120 respondents, including architects, facility managers, and users of public buildings across Indonesia’s tropical cities. The results show that all three variables have a positive and significant effect on environmental sustainability, with energy efficiency demonstrating the strongest influence (β₃ = 0.356, p < 0.001). The model’s explanatory power (R² = 0.731) indicates that 73.1% of sustainability performance is explained by the independent variables, confirming that design, adaptation, and energy management must operate synergistically. The findings highlight that integrating passive design strategies, efficient energy systems, and adaptive technologies reduces energy consumption while improving user comfort and environmental resilience. Moreover, the study emphasizes policy implications, suggesting the need for building codes, financial incentives, and professional training programs that encourage sustainable design in public infrastructure. It concludes that the implementation of green architectural principles in tropical urban contexts provides a tangible pathway toward achieving sustainable cities and communities (SDG 11), promoting both environmental preservation and socio-economic well-being. Abstract

AbstractThis study examines the legal responsibilities of start-up business operators toward consumers in electronic transactions within Indonesia’s rapidly expanding digital economy. Using a socio-legal qualitative approach that integrates document analysis, expert interviews, and case-based assessments, the research analyzes the extent to which platform practices align with Indonesia’s legal framework, including the Consumer Protection Law, the ITE Law, and data governance regulations. The findings reveal significant inconsistencies between the obligations mandated by law and the operational behavior of digital platforms, indicating that regulatory compliance remains superficial rather than substantive. Results show that start-up platforms often employ ambiguous Terms of Service, provide unclear information, and implement weak data protection mechanisms that fail to ensure meaningful consent or adequate security for consumer data. Dispute resolution systems are largely ineffective, characterized by slow responses, automated interactions, and opaque decision-making processes that prevent consumers from obtaining fair remedies. Furthermore, platforms frequently shift liability to sellers, logistics partners, or payment intermediaries, despite maintaining significant operational control through algorithms, payment facilitation, and marketplace governance.. Enforcement agencies face challenges in monitoring complex digital ecosystems, while legal frameworks remain insufficiently adaptive to platform-based business models. These conditions allow platforms to operate with minimal accountability, resulting in heightened consumer vulnerability. Overall, the study concludes that improving consumer protection in electronic transactions requires stronger regulatory oversight, standardized contractual transparency, enhanced data governance practices, and fair, accessible dispute resolution mechanisms. These reforms are essential to ensuring a more accountable, equitable, and secure digital marketplace in Indonesia. Abstract

This study aims to compare the performance of two clustering algorithms, K-Means Clustering and K-Medoids Clustering in grouping Indonesian provinces based on forest area by type. The optimal number of clusters was determined using the minimum Davies–Bouldin Index (DBI), while cluster performance was evaluated using the Silhouette Coefficient. Clustering, as one of the key techniques in data mining, automatically classifies data into several groups with similar characteristics. The results reveal differences in the number of clusters produced by the two algorithms. The K-Means method generated four clusters, indicated by its lowest DBI value of 0.515, whereas the K-Medoids method produced three clusters, with a minimum DBI value of 0.559. The clustering performance of K-Means resulted in a Silhouette Coefficient of 0.610, while K-Medoids achieved a higher value of 0.644. Based on these results, the K-Medoids Clustering method with three clusters, demonstrates superior performance in analyzing the grouping of Indonesian provinces by forest area type.
