The prevalence of stunting in Margoagung Village reached 10.14%, making it the Village with the highest prevalence rate in Kapanewon Seyegan. As a result, a stunting prevention program is required, and it is inextricably linked to the role of cadres, because cadres can influence the success of the Posyandu program, particularly in monitoring the growth and development of toddlers. Based on this, the purpose of this study is to examine the role of Posyandu cadres in preventing stunting in Margoagung Village. The method used in this study is descriptive qualitative with data collection techniques through interviews, observation and documentation. This study involved 12 respondents, namely representatives of community cadres in the Margoagung Village. The findings of this study show that the Posyandu cadres in Margoagung Village have made a positive contribution to the local community in terms of health because they have carried out their duties well. It has also been demonstrated that the community feels the benefits of regularly visiting the Posyandu, one of which is that the community, particularly mothers of toddlers, can detect early and pay more attention to the health of their respective toddlers. Furthermore, despite not carrying out the program optimally, the cadres have successfully implemented a stunting prevention program through specific and sensitive nutrition interventions. According to the study's findings, several barriers to implementation were discovered, including cadres' lack of knowledge about nutrition and toddler health, so they relied on health workers at the Puskesmas

Abstract

Over the past decade, a myriad of challenges such as climate change, food insecurity, flooding, drought, biodiversity loss, and inequalities have emerged across the global landscape. These problems are not only characterized by their complex origins and solutions but also embedded across multiple sectors, each with distinct agendas and uncertainties. Given this complexity, the concept of integrating policies across sectors has gained increased attention both politically and scholarly. Through a comprehensive review approach, this paper investigates the complex and multifaceted global challenges. It examines the role of sector-specific policies and the integration of these policies in addressing these challenges as well as obstacles to change. The findings underscore the existence of multiple complex and interrelated global challenges spanning many sectors with adverse national and local impacts. The paper revealed the substantial contributions of sectoral policies in confronting these intricate cross-cutting issues, while also highlighting their complexities. To overcome these challenges, the paper argues that the integration of sector-specific policies is central. By ensuring the integration of sectoral approaches, inconsistencies across sectors, fragmentation, and conflicts between policies are minimized. The paper contends that despite notable advances and recognition of policy integration, political commitment, complex application, and effective utilization are the primary challenges that need to be tackled to enjoy their full potential. The paper thus emphasized the need to establish efficient institutional machinery and unwavering political support for EPI. This strategic approach is essential to effectively confront the complex cross-cutting challenges, promote policy rationality and advance sustainable transformation.

Abstract

Non-governmental organizations (NGOs) have emerged as pivotal actors in social welfare delivery across developing countries owing to state capacity gaps. However, NGOs often struggle to achieve the intended benefits and long-term impacts, especially in rural community settings. This study aimed to investigate the organizational and environmental challenges experienced by NGOs in implementing programs for orphaned and vulnerable children (OVCs) in Zimbabwe. It focused on an NGO serving over 3,500 OVCs through educational, health, and psychosocial support initiatives in Masvingo province since 2003. Despite its benevolent goals, its efforts were hampered by myriad constraints. A qualitative case study approach was employed, involving interviews with five key personnel, two focus groups with field volunteers and area supervisors, a survey of 28 beneficiaries, and document review. The results showed that there were severe shortages of professionally trained staff who could work in rural areas, severe funding limitations due to limited church grants, unreliable data on target OVCs that made planning and monitoring more difficult, random government hostility through suspensions and too much red tape, and a strong dependence on beneficiaries. While aligning with scholarly critiques of NGO limitations, findings also highlighted the NGO's enduring relevance from proximity to the grassroots. To enhance organizational effectiveness, priorities include capacity building, donor diversification, low-cost monitoring technologies, coordinated government engagement, and fostering beneficiary self-reliance. This empirical inquiry provides original insights to advance the public goods theory on factors undermining NGOs' effectiveness in filling welfare gaps despite trust advantages. The results can inform strategies adopted by practitioners to surmount barriers and achieve public service missions
