Abstract

This study was conducted with the aim of knowing the process and effect of discovery learning to improve critical thinking skills of Vocational School NU Al-Hidayah students as many as 10 students for test questions and 21 students for the application of learning using the discovery learning model. In this study, the teaching module was prepared using the discovery learning model which consisted of 6 learning syntaxes and was conducted for 2 meetings. The research method used is a pre-experimental design with the type of one-group pretes-posttes design and uses a quantitative research approach. The test instrument was in the form of pretest and posttest description questions to measure students' critical thinking skills. The data analysis technique used is hypothesis testing. However, before testing the hypothesis, the data obtained was first tested for normality. Based on the results of the data normality test with Shapiro-Wilk, the pretest results have a significance value of 0.113 and the posttest results have a significance value of 0.253. The normality test is normal. Based on the paired sample t-test calculation, it shows that the t value is 0.000 with a significance of 0.000. The significance value shows 0.000 < the error rate of 0.05, so it can be concluded that Ha is accepted. Acceptance of Ha means that there is a positive influence on the critical thinking skills of students in class X APHP Vocational School NU Al- Hidayah after applying the paired sample t-test.

Abstract

This study aimed to identify the obstacles students experienced when using SpeechAce, an artificial intelligence-based website designed to assist in learning English pronunciation. In addition, this study also aimed to investigate the role of SpeechAce in supporting lecturers in English learning at English department. The method used in this study was a mixed method with a convergent parallel design conducted in three stages. On the first day, freshman students were introduced to SpeechAce and asked to practice independently at home. On the second day, students engaged in a collaborative practice using the vowels 1 feature in SpeechAce. The last day was the evaluation and filling of questionnaires to collect data related to student experience and responses. The results of students’ responses showed that some students experience network constraints when using campus WiFi to access SpeechAce. However, such problems can be solved by using private data networks that provide faster access. This is because SpeechAce requires stable network connectivity. Acquisition of data collected by field notes, questionnaires, and documentation techniques produce that SpeechAce and lecturers complement each other to create a more effective learning experience. SpeechAce helps lecturers in teaching speaking skills with a live evaluation feature.

Abstract

A valid diagnostic test instrument is an important component in accurately identifying student misconceptions. This study aims to examine the urgency and validity of the Four-Tier diagnostic test instrument on temperature and heat. The method used is research and development (R&D) with the Borg & Gall model adapted from Sugiyono. The validity of the instrument was tested through assessments by material experts and learning evaluation experts using a four-point Likert scale. The results showed that all test items received good to excellent categories, indicating that the instrument has adequate content and construct validity. These findings confirm that a valid Four-Tier diagnostic test instrument can be a reliable tool in uncovering student misconceptions in physics learning.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze teachers’ and students’ perceptions of the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) process, including student engagement, learning experiences, and the impact of students' learning on their abilities. This research employs a qualitative approach using a descriptive method. The research subject consisted of 20 students of the tenth grade at MAN 4 Jombang and a representative teacher, selected using a purposive sampling technique. Data collection technique through in-depth interviews with teachers and students.  The data were analyzed qualitatively through the stages of data reduction, data representation, and conclusions. The results of research show that the implementation of Problem-Based Learning has a positive impact on the learning process. Teachers view PBL as a student-centered learning model that uses context as the basis of learning activities, thereby making students more active in analyzing problems, discussing, and finding solutions. From the student's perspective, PBL is considered more engaging, challenging, and enjoyable compared to conventional learning. In addition to increasing student engagement, PBL also helps develop critical thinking, communication, and collaboration skills, as well as providing a more meaningful learning experience. However, its implementation still faces several challenges, such as limited learning time and some students lacking confidence in discussions. Overall, the Problem-Based Learning model is deemed consistent with the principles of the Merdeka curriculum, which emphasizes student-centered learning.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze students’ perceptions of the use of the game Mobile Legends: Bang Bang in English vocabulary learning. The study employed a quantitative approach using a descriptive survey design. The participants consisted of 30 eleventh-grade students of SMK Unggulan NU Mojoagung, Jombang, selected through cluster sampling. Data were collected using a questionnaire with a five-point Likert scale and analyzed using descriptive statistics, including mean scores and percentage distribution. The results showed that the overall mean score was 3.65, categorized as high, indicating that students have positive perceptions of the use of digital games in vocabulary learning. Most responses were dominated by the Agree and Strongly Agree categories, suggesting that students perceive the game as providing contextual language exposure and supporting incidental learning. Students also demonstrated the ability to understand, remember, and apply vocabulary encountered in the game. However, not all students fully agreed that games could function as formal learning media, indicating the influence of individual factors such as learning styles, motivation, and perceptions. In conclusion, digital games have strong potential as alternative media for English vocabulary learning, but their use should be integrated with structured instructional strategies to achieve optimal learning outcomes.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effectiveness of using DeepSeek AI as a translation tool on students' reading comprehension. This study was motivated by the difficulties experienced by 10th-grade students at MA Unggulan K.H. Abd. Wahab Hasbulloh in understanding English texts. The study used a pre-experimental design with a one-group pre-test–post-test model and involved 35 students selected through purposive sampling. The instrument used was a 20-item multiple-choice test, which had been tested for validity using Aiken's V formula and reliability using Cronbach's Alpha. The results showed that the instrument had very high validity and strong reliability (α = 0.896). The normality test showed that the pre-test data was normally distributed, while the post-test data was not, so the analysis of score differences was performed using the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test. The test results showed a significance value of < 0.001, indicating a significant effect in students' reading comprehension after using DeepSeek AI. These findings prove that DeepSeek AI can help students understand texts better through accurate and contextual translations, thereby facilitating the process of interpreting and understanding the content of the reading material. Thus, this study concludes that DeepSeek AI is effective as a translation tool on students' reading comprehension. The integration of artificial intelligence technology in English language learning can be an alternative solution to support the strengthening of students' literacy and reading strategies in the digital age.
