The existence of professional agri-extension worker is main extensionâ€™s issue to move it effectively and efficiently. Professionalism related with agri-extension workerâ€™s performance. The existing main problem is agri-extension workerâ€™s performance in Indonesia is quite low. It is because of agri-extension worker has low individual quality, include in some district in South Sumatera. Therefore, the objectives of this study is to measure the performance of agri-extension worker. The research used a survey method with quantitative and qualitative approach. It conducted in South Ogan Komering Ulu (OKU) District, South Sumatera Province, with census method to sampling. The respondents of the study were 65 of agri-extension workers. The scoring method used the measurement indicators from The Regulation of Minister of Agriculture Number. 91/Permentan/OT.140/9/2013. Overall performance of agricultural extension agents in South OKU District is in well category. It is supported by the worker's ability to prepare and implement extensionâ€™s activities. However, there are shortcomings in terms of extensionâ€™s evaluation had been done. Thus, it is required a continuous evaluation.Keywords: extension performance, extension, extension worker

Focus of this study is to research the capacity of crop farmers in improving their agribusiness by accessing agricultural information. The research objectives are to analyze the power of crop farmers in accessing relevant, accurate and timely information; and to analyze the relationship between accessing information, the level of empowerment of group farmers and the level of farmers productivity. This study was carried out at two districts Suchar Gowa and Enrekang at South Sulawesi Province. Primary data was collected from 240 respondents who are members of farmers group and their main activities are crop quowers. Quantitative analysis and qualitative descriptive analysis were employed to analyze the result of this study. The variables of this study are: relevance of information (X1); information accuracy (X2); timely manner of information (X3); the level of empowerment (Y1); and the level of farmers productivity (Y2).The capacity for farmers to access information was low. The capacity of farmers group and farmers productivity were low. The access of information had a significant relation with the level of group empowerment and the level of farmers productivity. Variables of the relevance of information and information accuracy have positive influence to the level of group capacity in accesing information. Variable of information accuracy have significant positive influence to the level of farmers productivity. Based on the relationship between variables in the model of farmers capacity to access agricultural information, it shows that variables of information accuracy and variables of task and group function were dominant and strategic factors related to farmers productivity. That means these indicators have significant role to improvement of farmers productivity.

Cyber extension is one of the modern technology which can be utilized by the farmers, extension workers, and Business actors to obtain informations and develop agricultural business. The purpose of this study was to analyze relationship between characteristics of respondents and environmental with the farmers behavior in utilizing cyber extension (Hp and internet) to support farming activities as well as the utilized on farm orchid plants. This study is descriptive correlational type of survey method. Research conducted at the Ragunan Orchid Park, South Jakarta, Jakarta Province. The sample were all growers of orchids as many as 35 people. The behavior of farmers for using cyber media, especially utilized of mobile phones. It also had a positive utilized in the development of farming, especially in marketing orchids in town and out of town. The existence of the company in a public area should be able to bring benefits to society itself, as in the social, economic, and environmental. To realize these expectations then CSR programs are implemented by taking into account the participation of the community and other stakeholders, because participation is one of the the most important of community development principles. There are internal factors that considered relates to the level of participation. Variables of internal factor (individual characteristics) are age level, education level, length of stay, and income level. The results of the research showed that there is no relationship between the individual characteristics to the level of community participation. The level of community participation considered relates to the level of program’s benefits that can be felt. Variables of program utilization such as the level knowledge level, skill level, environmental cleanliness level, and economic opportunities level. The results of the research showed that there is a relationship between the level of participation and the level of program’s benefits that community receive.Keywords: individual characteristics, the participation level, the program’s benefits level, waste management

The study aims to: (1) analyze the level of group dynamics; (2) analyze relation between internal and external characteristics of members and group dynamics. The research uses survey method and was conducted in South Lampung. Numbers of samples are 50 respondents. Descriptive and correlational analysis was used to explain this research. The results of the research show that: (1) the level of group dynamics was low because the group goals are not specific, the structure is not clear, group role and function is not implemented optimally, coaching and development of group is not adequate, and there is no positive pressure; (2) the internal and external characteristics of members that related positively with group dynamics are working motivation, intensity of extension, mentoring, and social interaction of the group.Keywords: coorporate social responsibility, group dynamics, member’s characteritics, frequency of extension

The study aims to: (1) analyze the capacity of cocoa farmers ex-coalmining in Sawahlunto and (2) analyze factors that corrrelated with the capacity of cocoa farmers ex-coalmining in Sawahlunto. This research used survey method and was conducted in Sawahlunto City, West Sumatera on Desember 2014-February 2015. Numbers of sample this research are 70 respondents and used descriptive and correlational rank Spearman analysis. The results of this research showed that: (1) capacity of cocoa farmers ex-coalmining in production, marketing, farming management, problem solving and enviromental adaptation process was low, and (2) low capacity of cocoa farmer ex-coalmining in Sawahlunto correlated with formal education of farmers that only until elementary school, farming experience of farmers is still limited so their knowledge and skill to farm is low , extension support to give information for farmer is not maximal, the role of farmer groups to help farmers seeking farming information is still low and local goverment support to facilitating the needs of farmers is not optimal.Keywords: capacity, coalmining, cocoa farmer, extension support

The study aims to (1) Analyzing attitude of the fishermen towards management system in Lebak Lebung (knowladge, behaviour, and manner), (2) to describing auction system of Lebak Lebung, (3) and to analyze the external and internal characteristic between the institutional and the fishermen towards open waters managed in Lebak Lebung. The study was conducted using survay methods thourgh decriptive analysis and corellation methode which the samples of this study are 100 fishermen in Muara Enim –Sub distict-. The result showed that (1) Lebak Lebung is the open water district which consist of river area and land that forms marshes (lebak) and low land that watery (lebung). Lebak Lebung will be a fishes breeding in ebb season, and in the flow season Lebak Lebung used by villager to catch fishes. The ownership of fish resources in Lebak Lebung will be given to Pegemin auction as a winner of area Lebak Lebung thourgh aution system. The aims of Lebak Lebung-auction is to obtain the income areas, and conservation of Lebuk Lebung, and avoid the confilcts between fishermen.(2) the highly behaviour : knowladge, behaviour, and manner of fihermen in Lubuk Lebung auctions management. (3) Internal characteristic, Lebak lebung institutional and external characteristics that relating to the behavior of fishermen is the level of education, the number of dependents experience of fishermen effort, income of the fishermen, rule, punishment, the performance of fishermen group, the government policy.Keywords: auction, fishermen custom, institutional, Lebak Lebung

Field School of Comprehensive Agriculture Land-Use Management (SL-PTT) is agriculture innovation from ministry of agriculture. The SL-PTT program aims accelerating the adoption of innovation at the farm level to increase production in a sustainable manner. The study aims to analyze decision making process by the farmers to adopt and utilize the technology of rice innovation in their land-use and and how much the production level of rice achieved by the farmers in SL-PTT program. The study was planned using survey descriptive correlational on March-April 2014 covered 80 farmers in village of Abbokongeng, Sub District of Kulo, District of Sidrap, South Sulawesi. Data were analyzed and tested using multiple linear regression. The evidence showed that almost all (91,25%) of the farmers applied all innovations, such as: using high qualified seeds, planting system, using appropriate fertilizer and water irrigarion, controlling pests, harvest and past-harvest management. Production of rice were more than 6,000 kg /ha with average profit is Rp 18,969,950/Ha. To increase adoption innovation of technology by the farmers, exntension worker should carry out more intensive approach. Communication between the farmers and the extension worker should be maintained and increased through the SL-PTT program in such that the rice production can be consistently increazed.Keywords: Adoption, technology, farmer, extension worker, SL-PTT

The research objectives are to analyze the level of agribusiness competencies of smallholders with vegetable planting, the correlated factors with agribusiness competence of smallholders with vegetable planting, and the strategies of increasing agribusiness competence of smallholders with vegetable planting. The respondents are vegetable farmers who live in the sub-district Syiah Kuala of Banda Aceh and sub-district Darussalam of Aceh Besar. Sampling was done by simple random sampling. Data collection was conducted on the 77 respondents using survey, interviews and observations technique, starting in April 2015 The descriptive analysis and correlation test (Pearson correlation) were used to analyze the data.The results showed that the level of agribusines competencies of smallholders with vegetable planting in Banda Aceh and Aceh Besar including moderate category. The moderate agribusiness competence is shown by the moderate level of knowledge, attitude, and skill. There is a very real correlation between: the characteristics of the socio-demographic (age, level of formal education, non-formal education, and experience), motivation to farm, interaction and communication of farmers with agribusiness competencies of smallholders with vegetable planting. The effective strategies that can improve the agribusiness competence of smallhoders are: improve training and field school for farmers, increase the interaction and communication of farmers with extension workers, and the development of farmers groups.Keyword: smallholders,vegetable planting, characteristics, agribusiness competencies
