Abstract

This study examines the complexity of corruption networks in the palm oil industry, focusing on the roles of state and corporate actors upstream and downstream. Using Social Network Analysis (SNA) of two corruption cases with data from investigation reports and court decisions, key actors and their relationships are analysed through degree centrality, eigenvector and modularity metrics. The results identified that actors have various roles, such as organisers, influencers, intermediaries, or simply communicators. Corporate actors dominate in upstream corruption involving illegal palm oil licences. Corporate actors dominate as initiators, exploiting regulatory weaknesses with state facilitation. In contrast, corruption in downstream palm oil revolves around crude palm oil (CPO) export fraud, with state actors as initiators organising systemic collusion so that corporate actors benefit from the manipulated system. The findings reveal adaptive corruption networks characterised by hierarchical structures and reciprocal solid relationships between actors. The study highlights the systemic nature of corporate-state crime in the palm oil industry by emphasising the dynamic role of influence and exploitation. Interventions against corruption cannot take a dyadic approach but must be comprehensive by disrupting corruption networks in weak governance.

Abstract

In recent years, sustainability has become an increasingly prominent focus in the global sportswear industry, driven by growing environmental awareness and consumer preferences. However, little research has specifically addressed the trends and drivers of sustainable sportswear consumption in Indonesia, a country marked by its unique cultural, economic, and environmental landscape. This systematic review aims to synthesize current knowledge on sustainable sportswear consumption trends in Indonesia, examining factors influencing consumer behavior, key challenges, and opportunities for future development in this sector. The researchers conducted a comprehensive literature review using primary databases (e.g., Scopus, Web of Science) to identify studies that explore the environmental, social, and economic dimensions of sustainable sportswear in Indonesia. Our analysis reveals that Indonesian consumers are gradually shifting toward eco-friendly products, yet barriers such as limited awareness, higher costs, and low market penetration of sustainable brands persist. Additionally, Indonesian culture and socio-economic diversity present unique challenges and opportunities for promoting sustainable sportswear, especially among young consumers and urban populations. The review identifies a clear trend toward environmentally-conscious consumption patterns, albeit at a slower pace compared to Western countries. Future research should focus on developing targeted marketing strategies that resonate with local values, affordability, and awareness campaigns that emphasize the benefits of sustainable consumption. The findings of this review highlight the potential for Indonesia to grow as a sustainable sportswear market, provided that efforts are made to align industry practices with consumer expectations and environmental priorities.

Abstract

The problem of mismanagement in church stewardship is caused by church leaders not being standardized in their managerial competencies which causes them to be unable to carry out their management functions, namely: planning, organizing, actuating, and controlling. This study addresses a notable gap in existing literature by providing a framework that links these competencies to the successful achievement of a church's vision, mission, and goals. The author proposes generic managerial competencies that must be standardized or possessed by the church leaders, such as General Ability, Willingness to do more, Creative Leadership, Goal & Objective Setting, Managerial, Emotional Quotient, Personality, human relations, work style, Loyalty, Work Potential. Finally, the research offers practical insights for church leaders enabling them to enhance their managerial skills and improve overall church governance and operational effectiveness.
