Abstract

This research aims to analyze the experiential function of signposts at Nusa Lima Beach using a Functional Grammar approach. The study employs a qualitative method, emphasizing the understanding of meanings and experiences conveyed through language. The primary data source consists of sentences found on the signposts at Nusa Lima Beach, which were documented and transformed into full sentences for detailed analysis. The research was conducted through direct observation and documentation, ensuring comprehensive data collection. The Functional Grammar approach, developed by Michael Halliday, was utilized to analyze the experiential meaning within the ideational function of language. The findings reveal how the signposts' sentences communicate tourism experiences and their linguistic structure's function and purpose. The study concludes that the language used in these signposts effectively enhances the tourist experience by reflecting physical, mental, and relational experiences. The implications of this research extend to beach managers, providing insights for designing engaging and effective signage, and contribute to the academic field by bridging linguistics and tourism studies, demonstrating the utility of Functional Grammar in analyzing real-world language use in tourism contexts.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the urgency of understanding the obstacles in the implementation of the Independent  curriculum. The reality shows that the implementation of the Independent curriculum faces various obstacles. The aim of this study is to explore the obstacles faced by teachers when applying the Independent Curriculum in elementary schools. The method used is a literature review. Data was gathered from articles published between 2022 and 2024 through platforms Google Scholar, ResearchGate, and Garuda Kemdikbud. A total of 30 articles were identified, with 11 found to be relevant to the research topic. Data analysis includes determining the topic and research questions, collecting literature, developing inclusion and exclusion criteria, reading and analyzing the literature, synthesizing and organizing the information, and writing and revising the document. The results of the article reviews indicate that teachers face obstacles in implementing the independent curriculum during planning, execution, and assessment activities. These obstacles stem from local government, school principal's policies, and the capacity of teachers. The findings of this research are significant for teachers as a thorough understanding of these challenges can aid in developing more effective policies and strategies related to the Independent Curriculum, thereby enhancing its implementation in elementary schools.

Abstract

Innovation and technology have become important elements in the transformation of education in the digital era. Teachers, as key agents of change in education, play a crucial role in integrating technology and implementing innovative methods to enrich students' learning experiences. This research is important to identify the extent to which innovation and technology are able to support teachers' tasks in delivering material more interactively and efficiently. This study uses a quantitative approach with a survey method of 30 teachers at Sultan Agung Private Junior High School Pematangsiantar. The results of the study show that there is a significant positive influence between the application of innovation and technology on improving teacher performance. Innovations in teaching methods allow teachers to be more creative in delivering material, while the use of technology facilitates better interaction with students and facilitates classroom management. Thus, this study emphasizes the importance of developing teachers' ability to innovate and use technology as a strategy to improve the quality of education. This research also provides implications for education policymakers to increase support for training programs and technology development in the school environment.

The data were analyzed by using t-test formula. It was also obtained that tobserved is higher ttable (2.603>1.673) at the level of significance (? = 0,05) and degree of freedom (df) = 58. It means that null hypothesis was successfully rejected and alternative hypothesis was accepted. The result of this study showed that teaching writing by using CIRC method was higher than by using lecturing method. It method is appropriate to be applied for writing.
