Abstract

ABSTRAK Tanaman songga (Strychnos ligustrina) merupakan tanaman berkhasiat obat yang telah banyak dikenal dan dimanfaatkan oleh masyarakat Hu’u. Masyarakat banyak mengambil dari hutan dan memanfaatkan tanaman songga sebagai obat, terutama malaria. Hu’u merupakan daerah yang sering terjangkit wabah malaria Penelitian ini bermaksud mencari faktor yang mempengaruhi pudarnya kearifan lokal masyarakat dalam memanfaatkan tanaman songga sebagai bahan obat. Metode penelitian dilakukan dengan wawancara menggunakan bantuan kuesioner dan diperdalam dengan wawancara mendalam (indepth interview). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa faktor yang paling berpengaruh terhadap pudarnya kearifan lokal masyarakat dalam pemanfaatan songga adalah tuntutan ekonomi. Jika sebelumnya masyarakat hanya memanfaatkan songga untuk kebutuhan pengobatan mereka sendiri (subsisten), maka seiring dengan adanya komersialisasi tanaman songga, masyarakat kemudian beralih memanfaatkan tanaman songga untuk dijual guna memenuhi kebutuhan hidup. Meskipun demikian sebenarnya kontribusi penjualan kayu songga terhadap peningkatan ekonomi masyarakat tidak signifikan. Justru yang terjadi adalah semakin langkanya tanaman songga di hutan dimana masyarakat bergantung untuk pengobatan. Akibat lebih lanjut adalah degradasi hutan dan lingkungan hidup masyarakat. Abstract

Kualitas lingkungan hidup saat ini sebagian besar mengancam kelangsungan perikehidupan manusia dan makhluk hidup lainnya, sehingga perlu dilakukan perlindungan dan pengelolaan lingkungan yang tangguh dan konsisten oleh semua pemangku kepentingan. Berbagai asas dipergunakan dalam perlindungan dan pengelolaan lingkungan hidup. Salah satu asas tersebut adalah budaya dan kearifan lokal. Kearifan lokal adalah nilai-nilai luhur yang berlaku dalam tata kehidupan masyarakat untuk antara lain melindungi dan mengelola lingkungan hidup secara lestari. Kegiatan perlindungan dan pengelolaan lingkungan hidup harus memperhatikan nilai-nilai luhur yang berlaku dalam tata kehidupan masyarakat. Salah satu permasalahan yang menjadi perhatian saat ini adalah krisis air yang diakibatkan berkurangnya sumber air dan menurun-nya kualitas tanah dan air yang mengancam ketersediaan air di Indonesia. Berbagai upaya telah dilakukan dalam rangka konservasi tanah dan air baik oleh pemerintah maupun pemerhati lingkungan. Pengelolaan sumber daya air dan tanah bukan hanya tanggung jawab pemerintah yang dituangkan dalam berbagai kebijakan tertulis, namun juga tanggung jawab masyarakat setempat yang nampak dalam pengetahuan dan pengalaman masyarakat dalam aktivitas menjalankan berbagai aktivitas pengelolaan air dan tanah. Sinergi yang baik antara pemerintah, pemerhati lingkungan, serta budaya dan kearifan lokal yang telah lama berkembang dan dipertahankan di masyarakat diharapkan dapat menjadi strategi konservasi tanah dan air yang efektif.

Abstract

ABSTRAK   Kejenuhan dalam rutinitas proses belajar-mengajar, rendahnya aktivitas-kreativitas serta ketidakpahaman mahasiswa tentang aplikasi materi perkuliahan dalam pemecahan masalah merupakan bagian permalahan besar dalam sistem pembelajaran Biologi di Perguruan Tinggi. Sebagai akibatnya mahasiswa cenderung pasif dalam proses belajar-mengajar dan mengikuti pola formalistic dalam penyelesaian studinya. Model pembelajaran acative learning yang diterapkan melalui pendekatan problem.-based learning salah satunya dengan introduksi penerapan praktikum mandiri terbukti memberikan sumbangan berarti dalam mengatasi masalah-masalah tersebut. Dalam kegiatan ini mahasiswa dibagi dalam beberapa kelompok, diberikan topik praktikum berdasarkan masalah aktual yang ada dan secara terbimbing kelompok praktikan tersebut dilatih untuk merencanakan, melaksanakan, menganalisa data dan melaporkan hasilnya secara tertulis maupun secara lisan.   Berdasarkan hasil evaluasi selama tiga tahun terakhir penerapan praktikum mandiri dalam bidang Ekologi di Jurusan Biologi FMIPA UNS Surakarta didapatkan nilai positif antara lain: (1) mahasiswa memahami aplikasi materi yang dikaji dalam pemecahan masalah melalui pengalaman penelitian, (2) mahasiswa terbimbing dalam proses perencanaan, pelaksanaan, analisa data dan pelaporan kegiatan praktiktum sehingga terpacu urtuk segela menyusun proposal tugas akhir maupun proposal penelitian hibah kompetitif, rnisalnya PKM, PKM dll., (3) terbangunnya motivasi dan etos juang mahasiswa dalam studi literatur terkait topik praktikumnya secara mandiri serta (4) adanya stimulasi terhadap kemampuan kerjasama dalam team-work. Akan tetapi masih ada berbagai kendala penerapan praktikurn mandiri tersebut, antara lain: (1) keterbatasan waktu, (2) instrumen penilaian dan (3) tingginya intensitas pembimbingan.   Kata kunci: Active learning, problem based-learning, praktikum mandiri, pembelajaran Ekologi

Abstract

Practicum is one of the learning methods that cannot be separated from Biology learning. Practicum becomes a vehicle for training and developing science process skills and scientific attitudes of students. Practicum can run well if it is carried out in accordance with the standards of practicum implementation. This study aims to evaluate the implementation of Biology practicum in PolanharjoKlaten 1 High School covering laboratory quality, management, and the implementation of 2017/2018 Biology semester practicum. This research is a descriptive research. The parameters studied included the quality of the laboratory, management of the lab, and the implementation of the Biology lab. Data collection techniques are carried out by observation, documentation, and interviews. The results showed that: (1) the quality of the Biology laboratory was in the good category with a percentage of 66.5%; (2) Biology practicum management is included in the good category with a percentage of 63.75%; and (3) Biology practicum is included in the excellent category with a percentage of 95.23%.

Abstract

This research aims to determine the effectiveness of three treatments of learning models, i.e. project based learning based on mind maps, project based learning using the concept map, and conventional learning method on mastery the concept of environmental science course. Research was done at Universitas Lancang Kuning Peknbaru. Research method was a quasi experiment with pretest and posttest design. The participants were second semester students of Biology Education in academic year 2014 and 2015, consisting of three classes. Class B was the experiment 1 (20 students), Class B was experiment 2 (23 students), and class C was control (20 students). The cognitive knowledge of students was tested by assessment of cognitive test (C1-C6). Data was normal and homogeneous. Data analysis was analysis covariat (anacova) and the least significant difference (LSD). The results showed that the treatments significantly influenced the concept mastery. The ability of mastery of the concept of a student who study with project based learning using mind map was (81,17 ± 12,72) or not differ significantly with the concept map based-project based learning (78,84 ± 12,29) (P = 0,521) and conventional learning. There are significant differences between the mastery of the concept of (67,00 ± 10.8) (P = 0.00). Based on the results of the study it can be concluded that Concept Map based- Project based learning is more effective than other treatments.Keywords: Mind map, Concept map, Mastery of the Concept of, Environment.

Abstract

The 21st century learning paradigm requires teachers to be able to use information and communication technology (ICT). One way to overcome the problem of low students' activities and learning outcome is the use of ICT-based learning media such as the use of AutoPlay Media Studio 8software as one of the learning innovations. The use of AutoPlay Media Studio 8-based learning media is one proof of teacher's ability in Technological, Pedagogical, Content Knowledge (TPCK). TPCK is a framework in designing new learning models by integrating technology in teaching. This research was a classroom action research conducted at Somba Opu Vocational School, which consists of two cycles. The subjects of the study were 21 students of class X1. Factors investigated were improvement of students’ activities and learning outcomes through the use of AutoPlay Media Studio 8-basedlearning media. The data of students’ learning activities were collected by using documentation and observation sheet, and the data of students’ learning outcomewere collected by using test of learning result at each end of cycle. The results showed that the use of AutoPlay Media Studio 8-based learningmedia can improve the activities and learning outcomes of students of class X1Somba Opu Vocational School. Therefore, teachers are required to have knowledge of pedagogy, content, and technology as teaching skill so as to create innovative learning

Abstract

The green revolution that marked a major shift in agricultural technology to meet the world's food needs brought the excessive use of inorganic fertilizers. Phosphorus and nitrogen in the fertilizer run through the lake causes eutrophication. As a result, an uncontrolled population of aquatic plants emerges which in turn, reduce the lake function. To overcome eutrophication problem, sustainable and environmentally friendly agriculture is expected to control the supply of nutrients into the lake. Therefore, in GERMADAN (Gerakan Penyelamatan Danau/Save Indonesian Lake Movement) Rawapening, sustainable agriculture became one of the superpriority programs. The purpose of this study is to assess the implementation of sustainable agriculture specifically on the use of inorganic fertilizer. Secondary data was collected and interview with agricultural practitioners was done to gather primary data. The result showed that the highest dosage of fertilizer was in Ambarawa and Bandungan districts. It is necessary to prioritize the development of environmentally friendly agriculture in those area. To reduce the use of inorganic fertilizer, efforts should be made by the Government in facilitating the production of affordable organic fertilizer.

Abstract

ABSTRAK Studi tentang implementasi model pembelajaran Zoologi Invertebrata berbasis masalah (MPZIBM) berfokus pada upaya peningkatan keterampilan berpikir kreatif mahasiswa calon guru biologi. Studi ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui bagaimana pengaruh MPZIBM terhadap peningkatan keterampilan berpikir kreatif.  Metoda yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah penelitian pengembangan. Penelitian ini menghasilkan model pembelajaran yang dapat membekali calon guru Biologi untuk bisa merancang pembelajaran Biologi berbasis keterampilan berpikir kreatif, dan evaluasi pembelajaran Biologi yang menekankan pada pengembangan keterampilan berpikir kreatif. MPZIBM   unggul dalam  meningkatkan keterampilan berpikir pada kelompok/unit materi  pelajaran yang memiliki struktur morfologi/anatomi yang berkembang secara jelas. MPZIBM dapat meningkatkan keterampilan berpikir kreatif dengan kategori sedang (%g= 43 %).   Kata Kunci: MPZIBM, keterampilan berpikir kreatif.

Abstract

Study on turtles identification in West Kalimantan has been carried out. This study is aimed at determining and identifying spesies of turtlesin West Kalimantan. Furthermore, it is expected to be the first step that will provide basic information to support turtle conservation and management in West Kalimantan. The Methods used were surveys and interviews. The results of this study found 10 individual turtles from Pontianak ,Pontianak regency and Sambas regency. Identification revealed  that there were two spesies of Geomydidae family and one spesies of Emydidae family. The study discovered that Cuora amboinensis and Cyclemys dentata belong Geomydidae family. Abstract

Glucagon, along with insulin, is a hormone that has close relationship with diabetes in term of maintaining glucose homeostasis. Glucagon is a peptide hormone that is synthesized from 29 amino acid and released by alfa pancreatic cells. Glucagon production and secretion are important mechanism to prevent hypoglycemia by triggering glycogenolysis and gluconeogenesis in carbohydrate metabolism.  The aim of study is to knowing the effect of ethanolic extract of A.altilis leaves and GABA on serum glucagon profile of diabetic rats.This study was done by using  Completely Randomized Design and male Sprague Dewley rats. The rats were devided into normal control group and diabetic rats groups. Levels of serum glucagon  were measured in days 7 and 42 tratments with ELISA Enzyme Linked Immunosorbent Assay method. Quantitative data were  analyzed using ANOVA at 95% confidence level.  The result indicated that 50 mg kg-1 bw  GABA, 400 mg kg-1bw  and 800 mg kg-1 bw  ethanolic extract of A. altilis leaves increased the serum glucagon level. Glucagon profile shows the highest percentage of  serum glucagon elevation  in the 800 mg kg-1 bw  ethanolic extract of A. altilis leaves group treatment. The result of the study expected to be one of scientific information that supports further research related to the use of GABA in natural ingredients as antidiabetes.
